They have put me off the whole concept of PR!

lonelywater · 23/05/2024 23:44

I dont particularly want to pick on one person, but given his SM profile, which is available to anyone at all, the fact that the Scottish greens thought Sophie sparkle would be a winner is just plain bizarre.

Seriestwo · 23/05/2024 23:49

That person has to be a 5th columnist.

We are going to need a bigger thread:

General Election: Scottish Greens to stand at least 31 candidates

https://www.thenational.scot/news/24340001.general-election-lorna-slater-says-scottish-greens-stand-least/

This is the most candidates they have ever selected and remember folks local Green parties are selecting them without serious oversight.

The other Green Trans candidate I know of so far is Esme Houston for Aberdeen North who organised the mob in Aberdeen which harassed a WWW pro-woman rally in Duthie Park and someone ended up punching a woman in the face. [Sparkles is a friend of Houston and was also in the mob.]

The Greens standing this many is bad news for the SNP. This is really going to hammer them. Especially as Alba is running at least 18 candidates, probably more.

Lorna Slater: Scottish Greens to stand more candidates than ever before in Scotland

THE co-leader of the Scottish Greens has said the party will stand at least 31 candidates, more than ever before in Scotland.

Operation Let Them Speak carries on with great success. That Sophie is doing God's work.

Same.

'What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? And how can we get rid of you'

Tony Benn

The PR system means we cannot actually get rid of anyone anymore.

Those of us of a certain vintage will remember the kerfuffle around the revelation /allegation that David Mellor MP liked to wear a Chelsea FC kit when he cheated on his wife. That was seen as bad enough and part of the sleaze around the Major government that contributed to the absolute tonking it got in the election.

To go from that relatively mild revelation (the main scandal was the affair itself) to prospective MPs actually self publishing erotic kink photos is another indication of how far the standards in public life have fallen. Honesty and integrity used to be important enough to at least put some effort into faking it.

Indeed and well said. As I said in the previous thread, long gone are the days when politicians were brought down by eating a bacon sandwich the wrong way!

Hopefully some of them will be of the old fashioned environmentalist sort of Green. If they haven't expelled them all.

OP posts:
INeedAPensieve · 24/05/2024 09:47

@ArabellaScott do you think those members who were expelled can take the party to court? I'd hoped they'd be able to fight it and show how ridiculous the position is. Their statement was reasonable and in no way anti trans. It's ridiculous how it's come to this.

INeedAPensieve · 24/05/2024 09:47

Sorry I am tired this morning, repeating words! Sentences not making sense...

ArabellaScott · 24/05/2024 10:03

I imagine they will be able to, yep. And I hope they are going to.

It's very clear discrimination based on WORIADS 'gender critical' views. The Green Party E&W commissioned legal advice that said very clearly they couldn't expel members for 'gc' views.

Popcorn at the ready then! And more gardening perhaps...

ArabellaScott · 24/05/2024 10:36

From Emma Bateman's crowdfunder page on her case against GPEW:

'At the last count there are at least 15 gender critical members who are currently suspended, expelled or sanctioned by the Party. The majority are middle aged women on farcically named 'no fault suspensions' who supposedly pose a danger or threat to the Party.

I am still expelled, awaiting what will be the 6th consideration of a complaint against me made by a former Co Leader of the party. There is no end date for this punitive process which began in January 2023, and no assurance that this will be the final hearing. The trans activists can simply cobble together another challenge to the outcome if it does not suit them.'

Beatings will continue until morale improves.

That's appalling. How can a political party behave like that and expect to be respected?

ArabellaScott · 24/05/2024 14:54

Never mind respect, one has to ask how they can behave like that and expect not to be prosecuted.

Is that Kirsty Blackman's (she of the XY chromosomes) seat? That'll be err... interesting. I was at that rally but arrived a bit late as walked around the park trying to find the right place (the TRA flags at the bandstand were a bit of a giveaway that it wasn't there) so arrived just after the assault.

As an aside I've just caught up on the last thread and now have
"Policuli, policula, policuli policulaaaaa" to the tune of Funiculi, funicula going round in my head.

Seriestwo · 24/05/2024 21:01

How can the afford go stand so many candidates? I thought they were nearly broke before the court cases come around?

By sticking their fingers in their ears and saying la la la just like they do when people point out they are doing something wrong

BlackForestCake · 24/05/2024 23:45

I think it's the SNP which is broke. Not heard anything either way about the Greens' finances.

fromorbit · 25/05/2024 09:15

We analysed Scottish Greens finances here they have around 160k in bank. So if some of the expelled biology knowers go to court it would be a disaster for them.

Remember Scottish Greens and Green party England Wales are separate parties, with distinct finances. GPEW is facing multiple law suits which are going to hit it hard. The Local and General election happening together is going to be tough for them, luckily though it is happening before the next court case.

MP Deposits are £500 but get returned if they get over 5%. Right now Greens everywhere are up in the polls because a small number of people like them more than Starmer's Labour. So from Scottish Green perspective it is worth running more candidates to gain momentum and publicity because for them the key election is Scottish Parliament in 2026. They are assuming they will only lose 10,000 grand or so I guess, but it will strengthen them locally.

Because they are deluded they don't think they can lose a court case for sexism. More to the point so far they have been lucky that no-one has challenged that unlike members of GPEW. It is a massive commitment to take on a court case like that. We have to hope someone expelled from GPS is ready to do it.

We have the gardening tools and we have the seeds they need. The crops keeping winning prizes with ease. Just need someone to say they need support.
