Wow, the chair of CS is kicking off with a bit of complaining that they don't get enough funding.

No wonder, son, if you're just going to piss it all away on posh eejits making pornos.

Did you see Shauny Boy's excellent video about Creative Scotland? Also, seems to be all kicking off with Sophie and polycule chums. Now Herbert is threatening to make cis people care about them. Don't know what that means exactly...

it seemed to be a call for "direct action" (which is not remotely sinister or worrying at all) since change through organised political parties is ineffective. Written by the same guy who is co-founder of "The Rainbow Party" with Sophie. I swear all these people have in their heads is a hamster going round on a wheel.

Didn't India Willoughby tweet something similar recently, about stopping being nice (!!) and taking action? And I notice Sparkles atted IW with the mention of a GoFundMe for the new political party.

Talk about six people and their sock puppets...

BezMills · 30/05/2024 20:15

They could call it The Party Of Not Women

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 30/05/2024 20:17

Maybe I missed it, but did Sparkles say anything about the environment in that soliloquy? I would have that that someone who was standing for the Green Party might have said something about, you know... Green stuff.

Sloejelly · 30/05/2024 21:49

What sort of selection do these candidates go through if the parties are choosing candidates who not only abandon ‘green principles’ but say they will vote against the party as soon as they are challenged?

BezMills · 30/05/2024 22:02

Well it's clearly not quite as rigorous as SAS selection, and truth be told I've seen primary school breaktime football teams picked with more discernment.

fromorbit · 30/05/2024 22:14

Meanwhile the other Green Trans candidate Esme Houston for Aberdeen North seems to be staying in the SGP and has no mention of Sparkles expulsion. Lots of posts about how great it was the Greens threw out gender crits though.

Houston organised the mob in Aberdeen which harassed a WWW pro-woman rally in Duthie Park and someone ended up punching a woman in the face. [Sparkles was a friend of Houston and was also in the mob. Presumably that friendship is over]

Helleofabore · 30/05/2024 23:31

yay! The Rainbow Party! That sounds like something that a certain Brighton candidate called Lloyd should join.

Edited

To be even considered for SAS selection, you have to undertake a pre selection selection-to see if you have any business going for it without wasting peoples time. Seems like green candidates selection consists of a form with two questions on it. Question 1-are you fucking bonkers? Question 2-No, are you really really completely hatstand? Answer yes to both questions and you're in.

Perhaps Sophie and Heather can join the Womens Equality Party where they'll be welcomed.

Heather resigned from the SNP because it was transphobic last August. See Wings post above for details.

Ooopppps.

Anyway it seems Sparkles has not joined the SNP. They are now forming the Rainbow party.

Make no mistake I will be standing in the next Scottish Parliament Election as a candidate for The Rainbow Party. No matter what it takes. Trans people will not be silenced!

Go Sparkles ! Operation Let Them Speak is doing well.

Also Sparkles is claiming that Maggie Chapman spoke in her defence.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 31/05/2024 08:02

I'm all for the formation of the rainbow party. The furthering of trans rights and trans visibility is clearly all that interests Sparkles so that should be the first interest of whatever party Sparkles is seeking election with. Stop hiding behind the skirts of the Greens, or the SNP, and go campaign to the electorate as the rainbow party and see what your vote share is at the end of it.

If true, I wonder whether the SGP will have a word with Maggie Personperson.

No, of course not, silly me.

Ahhhh omg, you know I've just got it why Maggie Chapman is being called Maggie Personperson on this board!!!😂

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 31/05/2024 11:03

Sophie really is not well. I swing from enjoying the sheer bonkersness of the output to worrying that the SGP selected a really damaged person who might do something silly (there is a family tragedy).

Herbert's "direct action" call is a bit more concerning. I saw that the X account of the "ungagged" podcast replied with "solidarity". The podcast is run by SNP activist & Parliamentary officer, Kat Cary who has worked for Karen Adam and Maggie PersonPerson. Wonder if security should be told!

Bigots. "Son" is a term associated with the heteropatriarchal colonial oppression of young people assigned male at birth and entrusted into the care of just about anyone, rather than their chosen family. As such, the word "person" is highly suspect and should never be used to taint the reputation of Maggie Folxfolken.

Those of us of a certain vintage will remember the kerfuffle around the revelation /allegation that David Mellor MP liked to wear a Chelsea FC kit when he cheated on his wife. That was seen as bad enough and part of the sleaze around the Major government that contributed to the absolute tonking it got in the election.

To go from that relatively mild revelation (the main scandal was the affair itself) to prospective MPs actually self publishing erotic kink photos is another indication of how far the standards in public life have fallen. Honesty and integrity used to be important enough to at least put some effort into faking it.

The Tories were pushing the Back to Basics campaign back then. I believe that was a major factor in that scandal.

No matter what the politics I could never vote for a candidate who sports bunny ears and sticks their tongue out at the camera. Really bizarre behaviour.

Thank you! I've always had my reservations about the gendering of person, good to see it being acknowledged. I used to use Personpeeps, I'll go with Peepspeeps from now on, like a sad clown.

ArabellaScott · 31/05/2024 11:57

I was sitting on my hands not to be an etymology bore.

However, it was never going to last:

https://www.etymonline.com/word/person

c. 1200, persoun, "an individual, a human being," from Old French persone "human being, anyone, person" (12c., Modern French personne) and directly from Latin persona "human being, person, personage; a part in a drama, assumed character," originally "a mask, a false face," such as those of wood or clay, covering the whole head, worn by the actors in later Roman theater. OED offers the general 19c. explanation of persona as "related to" Latin personare "to sound through" (i.e. the mask as something spoken through and perhaps amplifying the voice), "but the long o makes a difficulty ...." Klein and Barnhart say it is possibly borrowed from Etruscan phersu "mask." De Vaan has no entry for it.
