There may already be a thread but I didn’t spot one. Wanted to flag this (rather unexpected!) interview.

Womans Hour starts at 10am

bellinisurge · 23/01/2024 10:01

Thanks for tip

MarjorieDanvers · 23/01/2024 10:04

Thank you - Emma has just started talking about Jo’s case with more to come

CheeseChamp · 23/01/2024 10:05

Listening now to the dulcet tones of Emma

Lolapusht · 23/01/2024 10:06

Bumping for traffic

LaChatte · 23/01/2024 10:07

Good description of what gender critical is.

Ariana12 · 23/01/2024 10:07

Hi just started and asking for comments from people who have views about the workplace treatment of people who want to be able politely to disagree with the view that you can change sex without bring bullied and harassed

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2024 10:09

YAS! Go Jo!

seymourhoffwoman · 23/01/2024 10:12

Jo is such a good speaker. The term gender critical belief is annoying though. Fact not belief

WinterTrees · 23/01/2024 10:15

I've just switched on so am going back on Sounds to listen from the start. Thanks for flagging!

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2024 10:19

Hardest six years of her life.

I'm so sorry, Jo.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/01/2024 10:19

Go Jo!

Fenlandia · 23/01/2024 10:21

Such a powerful interview, I don't know how Jo is even able to form sentences this morning after all she has been through. I wish the BBC and other mainstream outlets would be more robust about what gender critical really means, it must still be a mystery to many people (despite how ordinary the facts of sex are).

TeenDivided · 23/01/2024 10:21

She is being given the chance to speak, and is very articulate (not surprising).

MalagaNights · 23/01/2024 10:23

Listening now.

Wonderful that Jo is getting the opportunity to tell her story.
Emma is giving her time and space.

At last Women's Hour.
But I'll still never forget how you let women down for years not covering these stories.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/01/2024 10:24

She did find the cross examination awful. Poor Jo. Same as a rape trial. So awful for her.

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2024 10:24

Jo on the effect of being in the hearing:

'As bad as the experience at the OU, as bad as the experince in my young life' (as a teen she took two people to court for raping her).

Fucksake, Jo. This is so heartrending.

Emma: this is Comparable to surviving a rape and the court case that followed?

Jo: Yep.

(paraphrasing)

The gaslighting. The doubting of women's testimony. Yes. It's all coercive control.

MarjorieDanvers · 23/01/2024 10:25

Jo what the OU did to you is an utter disgrace!

please know your crowdfunder was a pleasure to contribute to 🍾

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2024 10:25

Thank you Emma for this thoughtful interview.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/01/2024 10:25

Qu:Have colleagues been in touch?

No. Of 360 people who signed the letter, a good percentage got caught up in the mob moment and maybe revert what they did....no-one apologised

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2024 10:26

Too fucking right. I'm proud to have contributed, thank you for giving us the opportunity to set things right, Jo.

hanahsaunt · 23/01/2024 10:26

So glad that there is no hurry here - all the time and space to hear. So important and so glad.

LaChatte · 23/01/2024 10:27

I disagree, the use of the word belief highlights how ridiculous it is.
