There may already be a thread but I didn’t spot one. Wanted to flag this (rather unexpected!) interview.

Womans Hour starts at 10am

If Emma can pull off HJ, given she's apparently on a blacklist, she will be massive hero

They gave a good balance with the text from the academic at the end, that was marvellous.

Insipid bullies the lot of them.

Good tweet from Sodha

I have e-mailed Woman's Hour to thank them - thanks for the link. Everyone reading this should e-mail or text. It's so important to show the BBC that we are on the side of Jo and Emma.

HearTheSubGoBoom · 23/01/2024 12:14

That's second tweet from Sonia Sodha describes most of my male friends and co-workers.

Cyclebabble · 23/01/2024 12:18

The OU is disappointed by the outcome and the stress it has placed on "all concerned". Their view has clearly not changed.

Zoe Williams has an interesting take: https://x.com/zoesqwilliams/status/1749738220282093624?s=20

Oh but the replies 😂

She wants balance with empathetic interview about TW 😂

'Poor Steph 🎻'

Though there's a reminder about the one who just centred their staggering penis.

That must be awful.

I'm going to be writing to WH later, I'm also going to refer them to Sonia's tweets.

I’ve emailed the BBC. Thank you for the link. Such a fair interview.

SaffronSpice · 23/01/2024 12:27

Pilgrim Tucker has a case pending with the OU (more gardening needed). That may impact on what they say. Admit they have a widespread problem with discrimination and harassment of those with ‘GC beliefs’ and it might harm their defence for that one.

Of course, they should realise what they have just been told - that they have a widespread problem they need to address.

I can feel the draught from here as the point goes whooshing past Zoe again. Read the bloody judgement and then try to explain why you think it is fine for organisations like the OU and the Guardian to behave like that.

Mollyollydolly · 23/01/2024 12:29

If I stated my opinion of Zoe Williams I'd get banned. She's an interesting case study though, thinks she's kind and compassionate, but actually completely lacking in either quality, like so many activists. I will never understand how women can shit on other women like this. Never. Blokes I kind of get it, but women like Zoe are beyond my comprehension.

Same here. I can't express how much contempt I have for the likes of Zoe.

Idiot!

Joe was interviewed because she was vindicated, as have been an increasingly large number of women.

Zoe cannot have listened much to Woman's Hour or indeed Radio 4 in recent years.

Yep. Agree

Ariana12 · 23/01/2024 12:57

I also think the Open University is dreadfully to blame. It was so heart-rending to listen to how Prof Phoenix was hung out to dry and it's sickening that not one of her colleagues who drove the actions against her have seen fit to approach her. Worse still the first thing the OU says is that it's "disappointed" and is looking at appeal.

IcakethereforeIam · 23/01/2024 12:57

Jo didn't have a problem with tp it was their so-called allies that gave her so much grief, allies like Zoe Williams.

The more people who contact Woman's Hour and say well done and ask for more like this, Helen Joyce maybe - the better - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/3xyZd5NjJZmN7WztP96vCG/contact-us This situation has come about because people were made to be afraid and hide their opinions, this is a chance to keep the ball rolling

Done and also completed the broader BBC feedback form so it is seen beyond Woman's Hour: Send us a comment | Contact the BBC and emailed the Feedback programme. It really was outstanding journalism.

She's a really horrible person, isn't she? Imagine listening to Jo Phoenix talk about how the bullying she experienced at the OU, and the cross-examination by the OU's barrister, was even worse than what she experienced as a 15-year old girl being raped, and your first thought is anger at Woman's Hour for giving her a voice.

Pigeon851 · 23/01/2024 13:36

Amazing interview - well done to Emma B for giving Jo the space to talk about what happened to her in such detail. And to Woman's Hour for not shying away from this.

And of course, triply well done to Jo Phoenix- I am in awe of how composed and articulate you were on there. Congrats on this amazing outcome.

🥂👏💐

StephanieSuperpowers · 23/01/2024 13:46

I suppose when you see such mindlessly stupid takes as dear old Zoe's, you have to wonder what the personal cost of not charging at this like a bull would be. These days, one just jumps to the conclusion that there's a child involved and the cost of not making a fool of yourself like with those tweets is too high.

IcakethereforeIam · 23/01/2024 13:47

Has Helen Joyce done a SAR at the BBC to find out why she's apparently blacklisted?

Poinsettiasarevile · 23/01/2024 13:50

Zoe Williams is so hard of thinking it is not true.
