The question asked in Thread 1 has still not been answered satisfactorily, and so the quest continues to discover which side of the fence Tunnocks are on or whether they are in fact sat atop the fence throwing Snowballls and Tea cakes at both sides.

I have no idea where the link below will send you. hopefully to the original thread and at the start, but it could be a completely different thread half way through. I'm too full of sugar to concentrate properly!

Sush! Snowball will have a strop!. apparently a bit of a thing was had back in the day between bounty and snowball.

It didn't end well. Things were said that can never be unsaid.

The kids were given up for adoption to the Lee family and now it's just one of those hush hush things that only great aunt Gertrude brings up at Christmas after one to many sherrys.

IcakethereforeIam · 18/08/2023 23:18

I'm shook. I mean I knew, well suspected, that Bounty had something dark in its past ( dark by name....). I think that's why this distance grew between us. Obviously, I subconsciously picked up on the resemblance.

Well, you think you know someone?

Boiledbeetle · 18/08/2023 23:31

I know! I always wondered why they tried to keep great aunt Gertrude on the cups of tea for as long as possible! It's cos when she's plastered all the family sweetrets come out!

There's the time great uncle Polo got shot right through his stomach.. And survived! And then of course when cousin a marathon decided he was going to identify as a snickers! Seriously, next time you see her give her the sherrg early! You'll be amazed at the stuff she knows! And she'll tell you the REAL reason opal fruits had to change their name! It's dead juicy!

I heard it was bubblesuction!. If course wispa claims it was just diet and exercise. But that slope with the gentle sloping sides... Not natural. No way!

This was not my idea. I was doing a favour for a friend.

Its all @Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis fault she made me do it.

Preparation for the Tunnocks tea cake WITH JAM edition

OP posts:
Boiledbeetle · 19/08/2023 10:11

Too too sweet for me!

But I can see how people (the weird ones) would like it!

Please Tunnocks if you are reading DO NOT do this to your tea cakes.

IcakethereforeIam · 19/08/2023 10:14

Okay! You can let go now! <tries to regain train of thought>

Jam!

I remember teacakes with jam, I don't think they were Tunnocks though. Perhaps m&s?

Chersfrozenface · 19/08/2023 10:19

For those (heretics in the Beetle's eyes) who like / might be interested in teacakes with jam in them...

(And they're the sort I was familiar with until being introduced to the Tunnock universe)

Lyons Jam Teacakes - Tesco and Amazon sell them, amongst others.
Lees Jam Teacakes - Iceland and others

There are also Wagon Wheels with jam in - different shape, similar ingredients.

IcakethereforeIam · 19/08/2023 10:27

I quite liked the jammy ones, though they were a different beast entirely. You'd start by breaking the chocolate in the approved fashion (smashing it against your forehead). Then you'd pick off and eat the chocolate fragments. Then peel off the marshmallow, which would maintain its shape and cohesiveness, then lick off the jam and finally eat the biscuit.

I mean, who has time for that faff!

Chersfrozenface · 19/08/2023 10:35

"What is life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare."

Or to eat a teacake properly.

CervixSampler · 19/08/2023 10:44

A lot of other brands use gelatine in their marshmallow so it's not vegetarian. I'm weird about eggs so don't tend to eat them except in cake, sometimes, so I don't eat the teacakes however my children eat them so I buy them regularly. I might make some cake today.

Boiledbeetle · 20/08/2023 11:03

I'll just have a caramel wafer...

😦😧😨😩

A few weeks ago, I secured 3 boxes of dark chocolate tea cakes from home bargains (I was kind and left the fourth box for someone else 😊) but unfortunately it was one-off stock, and despite being very careful with them, I have run out 😭

I know it's not the same but you can have my dark caramel wafers.

Please take my dark caramel wafers.

🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

And crisis averted. I hadn't unpacked all the shopping from the other day.

The reds have now come to the rescue against those pesky blues.

I'm hoping to be able to peruse a Sainsbugs in a bit, when the footy has finished. It's new territory with, as yet, unexplored Tunnocks potential. I admit despite trying to manage my expectations, I'm excited. Dark chocolate teacakes would be brilliant. Caramel logs? I'm not building my hopes up (I'm totally building my hopes up).

May your Tunnocks hunting be fruitful.

May there be bountiful supplies of dark tea cakes and dark caramel wafers.

Safe hunting!

Be careful out there!

Lionsgate Rambo GIF by Rambo: Last Blood

I'm ready.

Boiledbeetle · 20/08/2023 13:07

Hears @IcakethereforeIam front door slamming as the football finishes and she runs to Sainsbury's!

I fear @IcakethereforeIam will be very disappointed. Our Sainsburys only has teacakes, caramels and recently dark caramels.

Boiledbeetle · 20/08/2023 16:31

Im beginning to wonder if she's still there just sat in the sweet aisle eating Tunnocks straight off the shelf!

The wrappers will slow her down a bit.

IcakethereforeIam · 20/08/2023 17:31

I'm back.

@Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis called it. But they had a 10 teacake box, my usual tesco only does a six. And they had a bottle of a specific sauce that I've been seeking for ages for a recipe I wanted to try. Unfortunately, it's been so long, I've forgotten what the recipe was, so I didn't buy it.

Are the caramel logs in the biscuit aisle. Or in the special section of the shop where they sell the sky hooks, long stands and striped paint?

Is it technically stealing if you eat the stuff in the shop? You're not removing anything, it's still in the shop. Just need to remember to pay for the wrappers before you leave.
