Tunnocks Thread 2

The question asked in Thread 1 has still not been answered satisfactorily, and so the quest continues to discover which side of the fence Tunnocks are on or whether they are in fact sat atop the fence throwing Snowballls and Tea cakes at both sides.

I have no idea where the link below will send you. hopefully to the original thread and at the start, but it could be a completely different thread half way through. I'm too full of sugar to concentrate properly!

I've valiantly decided to forgo eating tripe for the lent period!

Can you not give up lettuce instead?

If I did that all my lunches and dinners would be pure air seeing as this is mumsnet and it's de rigueur to eat a MASSIVE salad for dinner instead of lasagne, chips and garlic bread like more normal people. Or in my case 3 Tunnocks if the need arises. Been known to happen.
A very valiant and noteworthy effort there BB. You can do it!

Boiledbeetle · 15/02/2024 00:05

Well Cervix I've managed to complete day 1 of no tripe! its been a tough first day, but I'm sure I can do the whole of Lent!I

OK keep the lettuce, give up the watercress instead!

I have completed several months of no Tunnocks wafers, following diagnosis of diabetes. And then, yesterday, I was reading through the Diabetes UK site, and it suggested substituting for a chocolate bar, two fingers of chocolate wafer. That, I said to myself, is, presumably, KitKat. And if KitKat, surely Tunnocks is OK. In moderation. So I have bought some, and secreted them somewhere not easy to get at. One a week. Though not substituting for chocolate.

Months!!!!! Oh you poor thing! You need to do what @CervixSampler does and slice your caramel wafer into thin slices!

I hope your sacrifice had been worth it with regards the diabetes

Can't tell about the diabetes yet - need the next lot of bloods. My weight's down and my blood pressure's down. Eye tests are clear, foot check is OK. Nurse wants me to have water pills (i'm not an infant!) because of slightly swollen ankles, but I've swerved that as it could be due to BP pills, and I have a problem diuretics would exacerbate. Pelvic floor exercises are very slow to work. Drat.

Treaclewell · 07/04/2024 20:14

I have had one plain chocolate wafer today. Next one in a week!

Boiledbeetle · 08/04/2024 01:28

Fingers crossed them for your next round of blood tests! Everything else sounds good! Any chance the swollen ankles are from additional walking?

More to the point did the Tunnocks hit the ahhh that's so nice spot?

OP posts:
Treaclewell · 08/04/2024 07:29

No chance on the walking! But yes to the response to the Tunnocks. I think it was the better for having fasted.

Today I went to a spectacular farm shop place. They had everything.
So, I checked for the Tunnocks✅
I checked for the elusive Plain Chocolate Teacakes ✅
Then I looked at the price 😱
£1.99 for 6. I kid you not.

We passed this lorry on the motorway recently - I really hope it contains just one, mahooosive Caramel wafer. If it doesn’t, it should.

Can you imagine! 😍

I wonder how many caramel wafers one of those lorries actually holds, and whether I could manage to make them last past Wednesday!

WOW!

AppleTreeOwner · 26/04/2024 14:02

Noticed this week that Tesco have price matched boxes of 6 tea cakes with Aldi.
Filled the trolley whilst was there, shame not to.

MarieDeGournay · 26/04/2024 14:18

I'm thinking of doing a PhD on 'A corpus-assisted discourse analysis of Tunnocks on Mumsnet'.
I think I'm ideally suited to this, as I've never eaten one and have only seen pictures of them, so my research won't be influenced by things like facts, experience, or materil reality.

My pronouns are me/me/me.
My support animal is a Hispaniolan solenodon (Solenodon paradoxus) (venomous shrew).

MarieDeGournay · 26/04/2024 14:19

material not materil!

I endorse this PhD!

However... Has the venomous shrew ever eaten a Tunnocks product?

I put that question to it, BoiledBeetle, and I'm sorry to say that it's response was
'Tell her it's none of her effing business, OK?'
I apologise - it identifies as a support animal but it's still working on the 'support' aspect of the 'support' aspect.

I'm going to Tesco later.

Solenodon always sounded to me like something found on a motherboard so it's perfect for MN.

The shrew sounds adequately unhinged.

You may continue with your not supportive support venomous shrew. Good luck with the PhD. There are of course many experienced Tunnocksers on this thread who if you are forced to by the ethics board help you with semi reliable data! Just as long as you buy the test products.

OP posts:
MarieDeGournay · 26/04/2024 15:39

I'm sure there's a fund somewhere for buying test products, if I identify correctly..
Oh look, an update! somebody found a Tunnock, and fed it to my support venoumous shrew, and look at the result! It now identifies as a sweet cuddly shrew. And it said to say sorry for swearing at you earlier.
Tunnocks are clearly magic!
Now let's see... I just have to expand that statement in the style of Judith Butler to complete my thesis..

Apparently the solenodons aren't shrews, but are shrew like. Both the living species are venomous.

There are venomous shrews, mind - three species definitely are and four possibly. One of the definites lives in the UK, but its bite cannot puncture the skin of humans. Which is a relief.
