As the title says, a million pounds is being offered by Distance Magazine https://www.thedistancemag.com/p/we-will-award-steve-wardlaw-1-million?r=uglk&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

"To win the Steve Wardlaw Prize™, an entrant must demonstrate that the cited statement by J.K. Rowling does not involve a rights conflict. That is, the cited statement must materially detract from the human rights of ‘transgender people’ without simultaneously arguing for the rights of another group, such as women, children, or people with faith traditions."

They've named the prize after Steve Wardlaw who I've never heard of but his pinned tweet is an apology to Alison Bailey

We Will Award Steve Wardlaw £1 Million For The Elusive 'Anti-Trans' J.K. Rowling Quote

He has assured us that it exists

Just because she hasn’t said she hates trans people, doesn’t mean that she isn’t transphobic
Another one trying to "explain" to us at the level of a very young toddler. Bless.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2023 20:23

You're not going to get your head torn off, no need for the drama. Your comment is just a bit silly and unsubstantiated, that's all 🤷‍♀️ she didn't write any books "with a transphobic premise". Hope this helps.

I’m going to get my head torn off for saying this but she has made multiple transphobic comments. She wrote an entire book with a transphobic premise. However you choose to not recognise her actions as transphobic due to your personal opinions. Transphobia isn’t just calling somebody a slur, it’s much deeper than that. Just because she hasn’t said she hates trans people, doesn’t mean that she isn’t transphobic. Transphobia and antisemitism seem to be the two most socially accepted forms of discrimination. I hope in years to come, some of you will look back at your actions in distaste!

So you'll have no problem proving the evidence then?

Bloody hell are people still trying to push the line that JKR wrote an entire book with a transphobic premise? That’s so 2020 darling

spoiler alert

it’s entire dastardly transphobia consisted of (checks notes) 1 mention that the killer wore a female disguise to trap 1 victim

Whatsthepoint1234 · 16/08/2023 20:29

I think pp might be slightly confused. Having your ‘head torn off’ is a turn of phrase. The point of what I was saying was whatever transphobic jargon JKR comes out with, you won’t see it as transphobic because you’ve been brainwashed into believing that trans women erode your rights. If I said that I didn’t believe that trans women were women you’d agree with that despite the fact that statement itself is transphobic. You live in this echo chamber that means you are impossible to reason with. The paranoia on this board is phenomenal.

yay! Tell you what, please contact the competition organiser and show your workings!

If you don't win, it might be that YOUR definition of transphobic is not one the general population, and probably the law too, recognises as reasonable. Although, we know that you will not see it that way. And if you don't win, maybe you are also completely misinformed. I take it that you have never read the book you refer to as having a 'transphobic premise'? Because that attempt by extreme trans activists failed as soon as the general public read the book and pointed out that those people continuing the lie, obviously have not.

Good luck though! Come back and tell us all how you went!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2023 20:31

"Having your head torn off" is an extremely melodramatic and hyperbolic turn of phrase for "some people disagreeing with you on the internet" so it appears the paranoia is all yours, @Whatsthepoint1234

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2023 20:32

Still no quote though?

Whatsthepoint1234 · 16/08/2023 20:33

@Ereshkigalangcleg Either you are illiterate or taking the piss and I think I know what it might be…

HowDoYouSolveAProblemLikeMariaa · 16/08/2023 20:34

An entire book with a transphobic theme? Is it Deathly Hallows?

Snape wears a women like smock in Deathly hallows flashback and Harry inwardly judges him.

Voldemort is constantly described as without love, operates alone, shuns Bellatrix come ons (so a big evil asexual)

Dumbledore and Grindalwald use 'literal violence' and kill Ariana.

Or some such

Theeyeballsinthesky · 16/08/2023 20:35

TW ie men do erode women’s rights. The moment a TW man turns up in a women’s single sex space it ceases to be single sex so our right is removed

case in point. Hampstead ponds used to be mens pond single sex, ladies pond single sex & a mixed one for either sex. Thanks to TRA there are now a men’s single sex pond, and 2 mixed ponds as the ladies pond now admits men with lady feels. Of course the needs of orthodox Jewish women or Muslim women who can’t swim in a mixed sex pond don’t count. As long as TW men get what they want

Chersfrozenface · 16/08/2023 20:35

The "transphobic premise" thing..

Are people getting mixed up with another author from Scotland, Val McDermid, and the novel 'The Mermaids Singing'?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 16/08/2023 20:37

But but surely Val ‘TWAW’ McDermaid couldn’t have written anything as transphobic as to have a trans serial killer???

I really really wish drugs weren't being decriminalised. It would be nice not to see such drivel all the time 🙄

Oh go on, reason with us. I'd like to see what you think passes for reason because nothing I've seen from the TRA side so far contains logic, science or truth.

Because that’s million pound evidence in my book.

Chersfrozenface · 16/08/2023 21:00

Transwomen have always been, are now and will always be male, since human sex is binary and immutable.

Also, the Earth travels round the Sun and is a sphere.

Just facts.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2023 21:02

And the word for an adult human male isn't "woman".
