Well done to the hotel staff. ‘trans ‘woman’ given key to the unisex changing room instead of the female changing room ‘trans woman’ not happy.

The genderists want spaces to be done on gender instead of sex so transwomen can go in the ladies but conveniently forget that there are so many genders that it would be impossible to have facilities for all of them. It's very transphobic of them to insist that only transwomen and transmen are allowed facilities by gender and everyone else has to suck it up

Just to clear something up for me please,

Is gender now considered the same as sex?

So it's gender that is how spaces are split?

Because I thought sex still trumped gender when it came down to it?

The answer depends on who you are asking!

Stonewall say the ladies facilities are for anyone with inner lady feelz (and those of us who have female bodies and no particular inner feelz should be told to change in a cupboard if we don’t want to share with Anne)

The guidance on the Equality Act 2010 says that the ladies is for biological females and the (vanishingly) small number of transsexuals with a gender recognition certificate are who are indistinguishable from the sex they have transitioned to look like.

A huge number of public services and businesses have been trained by Stonewall (and Mermaids et al) to believe that the first scenario is the law.

This person is also using women's toilets and changing rooms at an event where the majority of competitors are under 18

Is he at the British?

Shame that the Swim England policies only applies to competitors.

Maybe British Swimming needs to put some more thought into safeguarding at competitions where adult non-competitors might be looking to self ID into opposite sex facilities.

Glittertwins · 25/07/2023 19:57

Yes this person is an official

What was wrong with the unisex changing room? Why did this person want the female only one?

I wondered this too?

escapingthecity · 25/07/2023 20:11

Thanks @forgotmyusername1 @SabrinaThwaite for confirming that Anne doesn't just want to take up women's changing rooms but is stealing their rankings at competitive swimming as well. What a piece of work.

"What is the world coming to? Why are trans women more important than children and women."

Well, men have always been more important then women and children. Now it seems that transwomen are, in some cases, to be considered in the category "men". See also inheritance and hereditary peerages, etc.

Apparently it’s because transwomen have chosen to be women, they are intentional women rather than the accidental freaks of nature and xx chromosomes that natal women are. They have also spent squillions of pounds on turning themselves into women so they are therefore better women than those of us who have apathetically stuck to the same body we were born with and have only made minimal and probably totally ineffectual efforts to make it look better with a bit of lippy and a bra that has seen better days. Honestly, some days I think we women should be ashamed of the way we don’t look after our bodies and make the most of them, don’t we realise how damn lucky we are?

Incidentally it took me about two minutes when watching the Barbie film to spot the trans actor who was one of the Barbies. Very few men can pass as women, even when they are dressed in pink .

Is this what communisms like ?

chinook · 25/07/2023 23:01

I am in Sheffield this week for the British Summer Swimming Champs as my DD is competing. She said this person was in the female changing room yesterday, along with other female officials. These are open changing rooms where young girls, mainly aged 14 to 19 are trying to change in and out of compression race suits.
How any adult can think it’s appropriate to be in this environment beggars belief.
Does anyone know who to approach to make sure this stops? It seems a few swimmer parents are on this thread.

SerafinasGoose · 25/07/2023 23:21

Oooh, 'incidental women!' I'd forgotten that - and forgotten who said it. The insults are coming so thick and fast these days that I don't always remember which direction they were hurled from last, or by whom.

Unfortunately I haven't forgotten 'non men', though. Who could?

dimorphism · 25/07/2023 23:21

It's a breach of safeguarding - raise a safeguarding complaint with your club in the first instance I suppose?

Anyone showing that level of disrespect for safeguarding shouldn't be an official.

Bloody hell. I don't have any advice but so sorry for your daughter. It's outrageous that children are having to suffer this.

dimorphism · 25/07/2023 23:24

Why on earth did the other officials not speak up about what a breach of consent, safeguarding failure and abuse of trust this was?

No way were all parents informed a biological male would be in the changing rooms with their daughters.

dimorphism · 25/07/2023 23:27

@chinook please inform as many other parents as possible and, if you can, raise a joint complaint.

You could ask for a refund for any fees for the meet on the basis of being deceived about whether appropriate safeguarding would be in place.

dimorphism · 25/07/2023 23:34

And maybe get in touch with Sharron Davies? Perhaps via her publisher?

One of the worst things about this is the inaction of all adults sending the message to girls that they should expect to have to get undressed in front of adult men

chinook · 25/07/2023 23:48

@dimorphism thank you, those are excellent suggestions. I will definitely contact Sharron Davies too.
It’s actually my dd who is keen for me to take this further. I won’t let her down.

dimorphism · 26/07/2023 00:01

@chinook so sorry that your DD was treated so abysmally by adults in a position of trust who should know better. I'm glad she has you in her corner.

Dumbo12 · 26/07/2023 00:11

Please tell me I've misunderstood, this man is being employed (even if as a volunteer) to act as an official, with access to female changing rooms? This is by a national sporting body? With children under 16? WTAF!

I think approach the venue with a copy of the equality act pointing out that 'sex' is a protected characteristic and gender isn't.

That 'gender reassignment' is also a protected characteristic but the law allows single sex facilities that exclude trans people.

Sorry I know nothing about competitive swimming but why are officials in the changing rooms at all?

I assume there are other parents there, can you block this person by just forming a line of parents outside?

Bloody Hell, it's almost beyond belief that the organisation are conniving in enabling this creepy behaviour, allowing him to watch young girls undressing.

SinnerBoy · 26/07/2023 06:27

Bloody Hell, it's almost beyond belief that the organisation are conniving in enabling this creepy behaviour, allowing him to watch young girls undressing.

That’s where the constant repetition of the “most vulnerable / most disadvantaged / most abused” + “they just want to pee, transphobe!” + “it’s not transfolk who are a threat, it’s men” + “transwomen ARE women, you hateful bigot” messaging gets you.

Along with the absolute refusal to acknowledge the that half of prison inmates who self describe as trans are sex offenders or to consider why that might be or to consider what that might suggest about how sex offenders who haven’t been caught yet might be inclined to behave.

And the refusal to even engage in discussion about women and girls’ right to privacy and dignity when in a state of undress.

It’s the inevitable consequence of years of Stonewall’s campaigning and the media and politicians of all parties repeating their campaign slogans.

Backstreets · 26/07/2023 07:41

Pity the concept of “shaming” has become such a no-no. They had a word for men who wore women’s knickers and walked into young girls’ changing rooms in the 80s, and it was neither “stunning” nor “brave”.
