Well done to the hotel staff. ‘trans ‘woman’ given key to the unisex changing room instead of the female changing room ‘trans woman’ not happy.

“Trans joy”.

Interesting take by this male on using the female changing rooms being used by teenage girls.

I do hope that some serious complaints went in to British Swimming.

The thing is that you know that everyone noticed but no one said anything.

No one mentioning it =/= no one noticing or caring.

Glittertwins · 28/07/2023 21:21

An official is treated no different whatever they wear or look like by the swimmers. The job of the official is to be invisible. This official has made it all about them

Hard to be invisible when you’re a bloke in a skirt in the ladies and the swimmers have not only clocked it but complained to their parents about it.

Hard not tell, we spotted from the gallery

forgotmyusername1 · 28/07/2023 21:37

Just watched the Lucy blackman documentary

Her murder had preciously been arrested for dressing as a woman and taking photos in the women's changing rooms.

This was in the early 2000's. Now he would be called stunning and brave and the women who complained being labelled transphobic

David Lammy may have heard of males taking cross sex hormones and developing more breast tissue.

Perhaps he thinks if they take enough cross sex hormones they'll develop other lady bits.

If so, he really is an ignoramus.

Is this what our finest universities are now spiting out asproducts of their top education. David Lamy has a degree in Law from SOAS, the mind absolutely boggles. Plus, he went to Harvard Law school and still struggles with defining a woman.

Ohyoudodoyou · 29/07/2023 06:24

I see the Daily Mail and the Telegraph (I think) have now picked this up.

forgotmyusername1 · 29/07/2023 06:43

I note in the article about gender neutral toilets. Let's face it- they wouldn't use them as Anne has shown when she refused to use the unisex changing room.

NicCageisnotNickCave · 29/07/2023 07:30

Well done, Swimming Mums and FWR Wimms!

Pleased to see girls will be in a single sex changing room
again

Well done to the pp who posted what was happening. Your dd and team mates will appreciate an adult stepping up for them.

334bu · 29/07/2023 07:50

Pity the article didn't stress that the campaign against gender neutral toilets is not a campaign against such toilets existing, but the fact that all female only facilities are removed to accommodate them.

NicCageisnotNickCave · 29/07/2023 07:57

From Coombes’ Mastadon.

It’s very easy to avoid such accusations, Anne - just stay out of single sex spaces, services and sports designated for female people.

I’ve just looked this person up on the swimming rankings. This person is also swimming in masters comps as a female.

BonfireLady · 29/07/2023 08:01

Great to see it in the news. Well done indeed, swimming mums of Mumsnet 👏👏

From the article (my highlight in bold):

"British Swimming confirmed that Ms Coombes used the changing rooms as a walkthrough route at the competition yesterday and was not using it as a changing facility so no separate area was needed."

Is this an implicit admission that had the official wanted to get changed, a separate facility would have been required?

Although on the flip side, it says the official used the toilets in the women's changing rooms as well as using it as a walkthrough.

The response from British Swimming needs picking apart a little more.

Helleofabore · 29/07/2023 08:04

I do not understand why it took a brave MNer (and thank you!!) to point out that this was happening! Where were the adult officials supervising?

Did the Swimming organisation not even think this through? If this individual forces their ‘right’ to use female single sex spaces, of fucking course they were going to be using the same space as the girls!!

Honestly, I sometimes think these organisations adopt a stonewall policy without using critical thinking to evaluate all the ramifications…. Like an adequate safeguarding policy should be doing. This is just showing the lapses in safeguarding that are still happening in 2023.

This statement is great.

Now a journalist needs to ask all 3 party leaders if Anne Coombes is a woman or a "dirty old man perving at [their] little girls in the changing rooms".

That should get some headlines and bring it out in the open.

What that makes very clear is that: whatever safeguards are put in place by organisations responsible for protecting the privacy, dignity, and safety of girls and women, those motivated to see girls and women in a state of undress will search out ways around those safeguards.

Imagine the thrill for that official of being able to randomly barge into the female changing rooms at will without warning, advance notice or discussion.

And now we’ve got “poor me, people might be thinking I’m an old perve for haunting the girls changing room”.

gogomoto · 29/07/2023 08:13

I couldn't care less what clothing people choose to wear and I think unisex changing facilities are a good idea in many circumstances (I have an adult dsd who is learning disabled and needs significant assistance yet the pool only has one disabled/family changing room which can be occupied by anyone needing the babychange, sessions are only an hour, if im not there it's pretty awkward for dp, he's missed time waiting for access to find it's a mum feeding in there for instance.

DreamItDoIt · 29/07/2023 08:14

Just came on to say that @BonfireLady . All
They have mentioned is the walk through. What about Anne using the female toilet? What about Anne competing in women's races?

BS and the pool need to come out and say their policy is single sex spaces and races.

Annaishere · 27/07/2023 12:46

And the thing is, psychiatrists aren’t allowed to treat this

I have a friend who is male to female transexual with a gender recognition certificate and many years of therapy behind him. He accepts fully that he's male. He would never go in a woman's toilet or changing room, volunteer with the Girl Guides or join the Women's Institute.

Compare that with Anna Combes and others loudly trying to access women at all costs.

“Who is looking at me and thinking nasty thoughts about me”

Does he want a list? OK

women at your swimming club who you are bullying to get into their changing room

staff at a spa who you bullied to get into the womens changing room and demanded they got training when they were already doing their job perfectly

teenage girls who don’t want you looking at their bodies

parents of teenage girls who don’t want you looking at them changing

random women off the internet who don’t want men in their single sex spaces

SqueakyDinosaur · 29/07/2023 08:28

And the women you are competing against when you swim...
