If their design decisions on the new car are as a bad as the marketing, the brand is sunk. Their chief exec is on a time limit.

Justme56 · 22/11/2024 16:28

Total Titter on X has created a great graphic on how Jaguar owners are coming out to support the new branding.😆

Arf! 😄

EsmaCannonball · 22/11/2024 16:52

And isn't it interesting that JaGUar have said their new target market is younger, urban people who want exclusivity? Woke culture is all 'inclusivity, inclusivity, inclusivity' until it comes to money. The poor are still tainted.

Needmoresleep · 22/11/2024 17:32

Quote from the Jaguar boss:

"We don’t want to necessarily leave all of our customers behind".

The word "necessarily" does some heavy lifting.

Who do they think is their target market? Not surely affluent 30 somethings whose father is a fully paid up member of the gin and jag set. Even if they earn more than average they are struggling with kids, mortgage, whether they can afford VAT on school fees, and whether there will be an inheritance at the end of the day. House prices are much higher than a generation ago, child care is more, and other costs too. Daddy's generation were luckier.

Are they instead aiming for the young international rich? Dubai visiting trustafarians. Hip hop stars? Well paid footballers? Is the idea to compete with the flash sports cars regularly ticketed outside Harrods. It's quite a leap from a home counties golf club car park.

lcakethereforeIam · 22/11/2024 18:01

My fella's dad has got a jag, he's a member of an owners club. He's in his 80's.

I cannot wait to see the photos from the Christmas party.

Et tu the Guardian 😭

There is something ludicrous about a guy poised to roll out cars that are going to start at a hundred grand boasting about being mega-inclusive.

watching that sixth form performance art, you would have no idea what they were trying to flog. At least the bud light advert had some beer in it.

I like to look on the bright side. I don't know what the future holds for Balenciaguar (thank you YouTube stranger), but somewhere out there is a group of around eight friends who now know exactly what they're wearing to the New Year fancy dress party.

Yeah this. And yeah LOL at the Jaguar boss saying he is all for equality and inclusiveness, and then going on to sell cars most people can't afford.

He may not sell as many now though, after this horrific ad! 😬

If Superdrug is on the list then so should savers. Superdrug own them

I've been boycotting Savers since they decided to allow dogs in. A strange choice for a shop that sells cleaning products and medicine and is generally tiny.

YesterdaysFuture · 14/12/2024 10:43

Is it me or has the Boots Christmas advert been edited to remove the pronouns part?

Definitely! 😆 Been edited to shit. Looks like they did have to listen to the 100s of 1000s of people complaining about the hilarious, but also offensive anti-women wokery.

.

Chersfrozenface · 14/12/2024 11:02

Adverts are often edited down after some showings of the longer original, in the hope that they just serve as reminders once the audience has already seen the full commercial, and of course because a shorter slot is cheaper.

What can be interesting is what gets left in and what gets taken out. Especially in this case.

I know this is an old thread but I’ve just moved my online shopping from Ocado to Morrison

invisibleoldwoman · 20/04/2025 16:22

Congratulations 🙌. Thanks for resurrecting the thread. I didn’t do online shopping at Tesco (which I’ve been boycotting for a while) but did most of my shopping at the local shop. I decided to switch to Morrison. I’ve found that I can get nearly everything I want but I don’t much like their own brands. For some things I go to Amazon. I know this is problematic but I live in an area where it can be difficult to get some things and as these are mainly branded I’m still getting them through a third party. We have to live in the real world and make compromises.

What I have found interesting is that after a short period of adjustment I found I could source an awful lot locally from smaller independent shops or direct from the manufacturers. Also from other online shops. Eg I’ve found a great Scottish shop which has an excellent online service. None of this is more inconvenient or time consuming than the old Tesco routines. I don’t think it is more expensive, although I don’t compare things. If anything I am saving as my shopping is a lot more intentional with fewer impulse buys falling into the trolley.

Because of this I don’t visit Morrison’s as much as I expected. I do miss Tesco in some ways but even if they recanted, issuing a grovelling apology, I probably wouldn’t go back to my old ways.

Hope you tell us how you get on. It can be hard changing shopping habits.

Here you go. Lego have tried to be woke and inclusive as well, so that kids can see there is a natural diversity across humans and promote tolerance and acceptance. Plus of course the Harry Potter stuff.

How dare they have Harry Potter and Woke nonsense on display.

Boycott Mumsnetters must do! There is that other stuff - MagaBlox or something...

I haven't RTFT but isn't that a copy of the Mermaids gender spectrum thing?

Serencwtch · 20/04/2025 18:20

Anyone else hoping that some of these companies redeem themselves in the coming days with statements etc supporting women.

duc748 · 20/04/2025 18:26

I'd be quite happy if businesses went back to their core purpose; producing something to sell at a profit. Instead of setting themselves up as moral arbiters. They are not, as a group, 'nice guys'. They will say and do whatever works best for thew and their shareholders.

Asics. They support the male parkrunner who takes womens places.

Oh no. I love their shoes. 😢

GreenFriedTomato · 20/04/2025 18:43

Oh, I've just bought some Tropics for an upcoming holiday.
As for the long list of places and brands to boycott, I shop mostly in Lidl, the bargain/discount stores like FarmFoods,.and then charity shops.
I live frugally and rarely if ever visit any of the stores on the list so no changes required for me.
However, if sometimes tells me Tunnocks are going ohe boycott list, I will be very upset

I'm looking to change my bank from Lloyds. Does anyone know of a bank with sex-realist views and not promoting the harmful GI?

GreenFriedTomato · 20/04/2025 20:47

I had to go into a Lloyds branch recently to close my account. I was quite shocked to see an entire wall dedicated to a giant progress flag. I thought I had walked into the trans alliance HQ by mistake. There were no other posters showing support for other groups.
