Woman's swimsuit modelled by a man.

twitter.com/sophielouisecc/status/1658827159803240452?s=61&t=_FVhOkJfaHrQrqGFLoyivg

What's the point? So we can see there's enough room for our meat and 2 veg?

in fairness it is a "pride" swimsuit, it does make sense than cross-dressing would want something slightly different to the suits worn by women. it'd be nice to see companies like Adidas equally eager to feature more common, less represented, less fashionable 'minorities' such as the old, the disabled, the overweight, the unattractive, etc. i won't hold my breath.

JamSandle · 18/05/2023 10:10

Such a weird agenda they have.

hamstersarse · 18/05/2023 10:11

To be fair @puffyisgood they have got a plus size model on the page too, who may be described as also being unattractive (eye of the beholder and all that)

Seasonofthewitch83 · 18/05/2023 10:11

Oh look. Another non problem that makes genuine GC concerns look ridiculous.

Roll over at things like this and you only make it more difficult for the bigger things.

Only in 2023 is it ridiculous for women to be upset at a man with all his package obvious modelling a women's swimming costume when it could have just been done by a woman.

Ridiculous.

Boomboom22 · 17/05/2023 23:25

I'm torn. Wear what you want. Look androgynous. Just don't claim to be a woman. I really must start buying more mens clothes. They fit better as I'm tall, are better made and have deeper pockets to stop me smashing my phone. Clothes should be gender free as it were, I don't believe in stereotypes.
Plus I can't boycott Adidas my 11yr old only wants it.

Yeah, this doesn’t bother me either, wear whatever you like. He is clearly not pretending to be female.

fajitaaa · 18/05/2023 10:16

MoggyMittens23 · 18/05/2023 09:59

....... so it's more important to make sure they (who have a fuck ton of money) only have to pay one model then get the right sex for the right section?

Yes presumably. They aren't going to sell many of it its horrible.

Whats a womans swimming costume?

I agree. It's not mocking women or pretending to dress up as a woman or anything like that. It's just look we can make this swimsuit so a penis can fit in it.

Confusion101 · 18/05/2023 10:29

I mean, they've probably achieved exactly what they wanted to achieve... A cheap form of advertising. Here we are talking about a swimsuit they are selling I otherwise would probably never have seen. For every person who is going to boycott, how many will look and think "that's actually a nice swimsuit, I might buy it" or get brought onto something else in their website they might want to buy....

A lot of so called trans women don't pretend very hard to be female. That's kind of the point.

We look at this and think "Oh yay, goody, let clothes be clothes' and think this is a good move to get rid of stereotypes.

But the fact that they've put a very obvious man, giving the other noise they're making, just means they are making the point that if someone says they are the opposite sex they are and don't need a costume.

If it were truly a push to give people options beyond stereotyped clothing it would be shaped appropriately for a man, including adequate coverage for a penis and shaped so voluntary flashing was more difficult. No 'whoops' moments.

But it's not, it's a flasher and cross dressers dream and that's by design. Saying it's no big deal is all well and good, but when there is a 50+ year old flashing his balls at women in the women's changing room at your local swimming pool you will be a bit bothered won't you?

This is a political statement and not a fashion one. As previously said, if they wanted to get more sales it wouldn't be so godamn ugly.

No one is saying not to wear what you want. If he's not female then why is it in the woman's section?

I am guessing one that is in the women's section but not modelled by a man? I mean, I am not sure if this is for women or not because I think I would have a lot of sagging material around the pubic area if it can manage all he's got going on with ease. It's normally quite fitted for me round there, thankfully! How about you?

That's great. Whack it in the men's section! And then have a women modelling it for the women's section!

MoggyMittens23 · 18/05/2023 10:45

@Seasonofthewitch83 when you shop online do you usually navigate the website by looking at the women's or men's? I know it's all the same shit, we can all wear the same and we all fit in the same clothes so not that it matters (it should all be lumped together really, to make it easier!) but just curious?

I'm sure the ones on here who don't mind at all won't mind if little charlotte is eyeball height with a man's bits hanging out of a swimming costume (not designed for a man's body) at the swimming pool this weekend in the female changing room. Stunning and brave!

DobbysTeaCosy · 18/05/2023 10:51

we all fit in the same clothes
Where are you shopping?

A while back I wanted a denim jacket. They were really expensive and overly embellished in the women's and I stumbled upon a men's one which would have been just right. I'm a medium sized woman so ordered a medium so it'd be roomy. Wouldn't go over my hips and mine are small. Tried again with a large and XL and XXL. None would go over my hips and as they got bigger the arms got ridiculously long. (And I have a very long torso, arms and broad shoulders so should fit men's better than your average woman.)
I gave up in the end and got a 14 in the women's. Paid twice as much but it fit perfectly.

Men's clothes just aren't suitable for women and vice versa. The solution is not to squeeze yourself into something designed for the opposite sex. The solution is to encourage colours and motifs used on both men's and women's whilst retaining separate sections based on body type.

Do you actually ever swim? Because there’s far more fabric there than I often see on serious male swimmers - never heard of budgie smugglers?

I only see men in shorts at swimming, as we go at family time so haven't seen any 'serious swimmer's in the wave pool in their budgie smugglers. yet to see a man in the female changing room either though, but I would leave if there was. is that ok?

MoggyMittens23 · 18/05/2023 11:16

@jellyfrizz why do you care so much that I don't want to to see a man squeezed into a 'woman's' swimming costume under the WOMEN's section? Why are you so bothered by me being affronted by this? Is it ok that I have this opinion or do I need to shut up and let the men folk keep modelling the little women's clothing?

Freefall212 · 18/05/2023 11:17

I don't care if men want to wear one piece swim suits. Men wear all kinds of suits as do women, some even wear board shorts. It shouldn't be adverstised as a woman's suit. This is a man wearing a swim suit.

I KNOW it's in both sections. But I THINK it should be a woman wearing it for the woman's section.

MoggyMittens23 · 18/05/2023 11:21

@jellyfrizz fuck it, I am going to go to the pool this weekend in budgie smugglers (made for all, don't you know) just that though because people can wear what they like. Might even go in the men's changing rooms, spice it up. makes no difference. we are all the same.... blah, blah, fucking blah

Freefall212 · 18/05/2023 11:21

They have other gender neutral clothes but they lable them as gender neutral
