Gosh it is heartening to see even more evidence that the tide has turned. She's stuck to her guns and been too reasonable to be cancelled by the misogynists.

Times article here

The uncancelling of JK Rowling

Tide appears to be turning for the Harry Potter author ostracised for her trans views

Probably because of all the publicity over Dylan Mulvaney and everyone realising JK rowling wasn't actually wrong. Natural Women are being eradicated.

RoyalCorgi · 16/04/2023 12:49

The books, films, merchandise and the recent computer game have all continued to sell well and attract a huge audience over the past few years - attempts to cancel her have been entirely unsuccessful. Warner Bros care about one thing: making money. Is the association with JKR going to make them money, or lose them money? It looks like they know the answer.

Can't read the article but it's about bloody time!

Yes I think that more and more people have been peaked over the years and poor Dylan has reached even more of the public at a critical time.

Try telling that to Reddit though 😬

HereForTheFreeLunch · 16/04/2023 13:44

I like that it talks about her views on women's rights and transgenderism.

Pixiedust1234 · 16/04/2023 13:49

Thanks for the links. That was a very calm piece of journalism, and I like how they said womens rights, not anti trans. Makes a huge difference.

Quite, so often Rowling, Posie and others like them are tagged as “anti trans activists” <glares at Guardian>

Really interesting article but as an aside, I never knew about the airplane mode trick! That's amazing!

NutellaEllaElla · 16/04/2023 15:28

Such a game changer right?!😁

I've actually been pleasantly surprised by Reddit over the last few weeks. There's been a few threads on both ukpolitics and unitedkingdom where gender critical comments have been quite heavily upvoted and threads haven't been locked.

I did however get banned from transgenderuk the other day for politely answering someone's question

Does this work for all pay walls?

AutumnCrow · 16/04/2023 15:55

I know Dylan Mulvaney’s in it for the money, but he has actually been a very effective ‘fifth columnist’.

OhcantthInkofaname · 16/04/2023 16:21

I have always agreed with her. In all of my anatomy classes we have noted male/female bodies are different. We can't simply label something and poof it changes.

Nope, as it depends on how the page has been configured, but it's worth trying on other sites to see if it helps. It doesn't work with the Times but does with the Spectator IIRC.

GretaGood · 17/04/2023 07:19

According to the Sunday Times they are looking for 10 year old actors for a TV series - think it was Netflix - I would imagine this will be in the news big time over the next months/ years and criticism of her is going to be largely ignored.

Another thanks for this tip, as well as the original share which is a very heartenening way to start the week!

C1N1C · 17/04/2023 07:56

Apologies, I think we were all so grateful for your hack, we missed the point of the post!

I'm 100% for this! I just wish it progressed everywhere else... like that poor teacher that stupidly called her students "girls" in an all girls school!

Greenfairydust · 17/04/2023 07:58

I think the (maybe silent) majority of people always continued to love her work and to accept that she is allowed her own views, regardless of controversy.

It is always only a rabid minority that try to ''cancel'' people.

I don't always agree with her, but I completely want her to be able to air her views and not be silenced or threatened.

People really have to learn that debate is healthy, but censorship and aggression are not.

Beenhereforever1978 · 17/04/2023 08:08

I absolutely love this quote:

Casey Bloys, the chairman and chief executive of HBO and HBO Max, dismissed suggestions that showrunners will struggle to find cast members because of her involvement, telling journalists: “That’s a very online conversation."

TaylorMia · 17/04/2023 08:10

Why aren't trans women allowed in commercials? There are men appearing in makeup commercials now...
