I believe that this has to do with the "don't kink-shame" argument which has been made in social media for several years. It began with BDSM and has now been expanded more widely.
This has changed from agreeing not to kink-shame someone performing their kinks with consenting adults inside their own bedrooms to the demand that kinks should be allowed to be acted out in public spaces and that consent of bystanders is not required.
It's the latter that is the big problem, given that kinks can include being an exhibitionist or being a peeping Tom, and non-consent is an essential part of those kinks.
