I am so excited that this is coming to Australia - I will hopefully be attending.

Anyone else?

God, this is so awful. I knew things were bad in Australia but it's actually terrifying. I hope KJK is staying safe.

The BBC are being as impartial as ever, describing Kelly Jay as "anti-transgender activist".

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-65034603

I red it early this morning and I'm still fuming. What sort of professional ethics does the person who concocted that propaganda have? How can the BBC get away with such a misleading article? It's sinister.

NotTerfNorCis · 22/03/2023 08:26

Just seen the BBC article. It's obvious that Nazis are attacking the LGBT community, but have absolutely nothing to do with feminism (they almost certainly hate feminists too). While they latched onto KJK's rally, their motives were entirely different. TRAs are loving this though - they're treating it as proof of the old slur, '(gender critical) feminists = Nazis'.

The right wing started the feminist/Nazi slur in the nineties, and by 2014 or so it was such a conviction among MRAs that they started arguing that feminists are Nazis, e.g. have the supremacist, eugenicist beliefs. The fact that TRAs took on the slur so quickly is another link between themselves and MRAs.

You should be ashamed of yourself. I'm ashamed of you.

I’ve read it. Which part(s) are you objecting to?

FOJN · 22/03/2023 08:42

After all I care whether these (we!) women...

There is no WE I do not wish to be associated with your authoritarian, woman hating brand of "feminsm".

I hope you have receipts for your Jean Hatchet claim or both she and KJK might have something to say about it.

Christmasisshit · 22/03/2023 08:46

Seconded. I'm not part of your we either.

oldwomanwhoruns · 22/03/2023 08:51

I've complained to the BBC about the article too. The BBC have an online complaints form, I didn't know whether to choose 'factual inaccuracy' or 'bias', but went for the former.
Their line that the thugs were 'in apparent support of Mrs Keen-Minshull' is just so wrong. They were not. And why did the Australian police let those thugs through their lines? Were they pals of the Australian police??? Why is the BBC not asking this question?

Datun · 22/03/2023 08:52

Fortunately, Onnabugeisha, less captured media can see you.

When Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and progressive party leaders such as the Greens’ Adam Bandt define these women (or their protest) as associating with ‘neo-Nazis’, we have a gross misrepresentation at play and one that anyone participating in this charade should be ashamed of.

This whole mess is an orchestrated misrepresentation that amounts to propaganda.

If you’ve been so propagandised as to assume that there is no legitimate discussion to be had around these issues, then you’re a victim of a corrupt media that has ceased to do its job. The Third Estate has well and truly died if a smallish group of women, including MPs, teachers, doctors, and philosophy professors, can’t gather in a public place to discuss matters of cultural and political importance to women.

Let’s stop pretending this doesn’t have the full force of the corporate-state and captured media and academia behind it. Let’s stop pretending that there are two sides to this ‘debate’: there is one side and a maligned minority of women bravely fighting for the right to have a conversation.

Corporate state and captured media feverishly backed up by jealous, small minded people masquerading as feminists.

In the sinkhole of partisan politics and propaganda this act of discursive generosity is defined as ‘far Right’. In the real world of heterodox politics and culture, Posie Parker’s message cuts across the increasingly defunct Right/Left divide and indeed speaks to women and men across the political spectrum.

What has happened in Australia has highlighted women's lack of power. As ever. Attacked and silenced at every turn.

I bloody hope she runs for office. Women may be getting deliberately frightened into staying at home, but they can still vote.

For now.

This is a whole new level of lies and misinformation. I hope KJK takes legal action.

I can't say it better.

I want no part of any 'we' which silences women. That is no kind of feminism.

Crikey! KJK using white supremacist hand signals and making “direct threats” to the NZ PM. They’re really losing touch with reality now, the reports are getting more and more absurd. Feels like a moral panic to me.

AlisonDonut · 22/03/2023 10:14

Hand signal blurred?

Good lord. These people are insane.

These 'hand-signals' that the TRA thugs were giving to Kellie-Jay are, I guess, rape threats. Nasty, nasty.

Have you posted the right photo? Because that one shows TRAs giving her the middle finger. It's a rather vulgar "fuck you" but not a rape threat.

Sorry ignore me, I get it now. My MN is being stupidly glitchy and slow to load at the moment.

How anyone can look at that photo and not see the spitting, raging misogyny, is beyond me.

I just love her more and more. Even when she is surrounded by violent men and having to be escorted out she wears a smile on her face like it doesn't faze her the least.

Ovaries of steel.

I'll be at the Canberra one. Not sure if I should sort out childcare for the kids or not.

Please do, but also please please go.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/03/2023 15:21

Aussie women were saying that the whole sex v gender subject has never got coverage in the past. KJK's changed that and, as we know, once the genie is out of the bottle it won't go back in!
Apparently she has permission to enter New Zealand

IwantToRetire · 22/03/2023 16:43

When I posted the link to the DM article I was more focused on the contradictory fact that they are using WPUK as a source of information (and Jean Hackett) and as we now all know WPUK is the "friendly" face of AGCL.

And as if to prove this for the first time ever AGCL are promoting the article on their facebook page. This implies to me that they have fed information to the DM. But the worst part is, that theirs (and others) perpetuating the myth of the nazi link was to encourage male left activists to take violence opposition to LWS events. Which in turn has brought out the violent male right.

And this reckless whipping up of male violence has led to the distress and violence that women attending have experienced at these events.

AGCL are trying to say the DM (you would want to laugh if it wasn't so serious) proves that they were always right to say KJK has links to the right.

Nowhere have they condemned the male violence.

Their behaviour is despicable.

I was so outraged that I signed up to comment on the article last night, and am sorry to say it hasn't been published. So not just the Guardian.

But yes of course, the nasty ferreting around in someone's family back ground is gross, but also irresponsible if it leads to members of the family, particularly children being subject to online abuse.

Found this tweet, is it hopeful? Links to article from the Herald Sun. No idea about political allegiance, truthfulness, sanity or popularity of Australian newspapers.
