After so many years seemingly howling in the wind, FINALLY the MSM are taking the issues , seriously, it's on front page news, discussed in Westminster, BBC, ITV, C4,it's all over Twitter, even the bloody GUARDIAN is reporting on it, and, by the outrage over Adam Graham, the convicted rapist being put in a women's jail, it looks like we are on the right side of history after all...

Too soon yet.
Cautiously optimistic is how I might start feeling if it carries on. I'm afraid it won't.

ArabellaScott · 30/01/2023 22:56

Gosh, no, that would be unseemly.

BlackForestCake · 30/01/2023 22:57

Not really because I know there's still a long way to go and it could still get worse before it gets better.

My timeline is still full of people complaining about “terfs”.

BlessedKali · 30/01/2023 23:24

I think the cat is out of the bag. I think people might try to ram the cat back into the bag, people might try to ignore the cat, and the cat might get a bit stuck at times. But the cat is definitely getting the fuck out of that bag.

justasking111 · 30/01/2023 23:27

OH is finally aware and read out to me Sturgeons car crash interview this morning

LizzieSiddal · 30/01/2023 23:32

I am but I’m also cautious because there will be many TRAs doubling down on ensuring “inclusion” where ever they can.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 30/01/2023 23:35

yeah same here - a degree of cautious optimism. Women are back to fighting for rights I thought we'd won and having conversations that my dad deemed old fashioned in the 60s (a man with long hair looks like a woman) a girl with short hair is somehow less of a girl?

We're fighting but glee isn't the right word. But as is often repeated here sunlight helps our side.

FOJN · 30/01/2023 23:35

Yup, not my usual style but the prisons issues makes me unreasonably angry so I'm pleased certain people are uncomfortable being unable to answer some very simple questions. The humiliation they may experience for a moment is nothing compared to the harm they've done so I'm unashamedly gleeful and my momentary glee is nothing compared to the violent threats made by the TRA's.

Yes my DH who does try very hard to follow my ~rantings~ interest in the topic has been sending me links to articles. Haven't read anything about the Sturgeon interview yet though (off to find out)

This is an excellent post that made me laugh out loud and wake the baby!
Both in and out of context it's great!

DialSquare · 30/01/2023 23:39

I feel like the debate is finally happening and the sunlight is showing the ideology up for what it is (as we all knew it would) so in turn, slightly vindicated.

This made me laugh though.

GallantGus · 30/01/2023 23:43

I’m not gleeful as such as I think there’s still battles ahead to be won.

However when I heard it reported on the radio (biased shitty bbc as well!) as I was driving the other day that the double rapist’s ex-wife couldn’t stop laughing when she saw him in pink leggings and a blonde wig I had to crack a smile. I know it’s a very serious subject and dreadful subject but I think it was almost a sense of odd relief that it was actually being aired and all (his ex wife’s incredulous reaction) as she (and the rest of us!) knew he wasn’t a bloody woman or suffering from a genuine case of body dysmorphia. And this fact needs to have been said by those in power/those MPs who are supposed to represent us.

I feel smug and vindicated, but overall I feel angry. They've been putting sex offenders in women's prisons for years and no-one gave a shit. And they still don't, not really. All the women ignored and abused. I want all those responsible held to account and I bet they won't be.

yourhairiswinterfire · 30/01/2023 23:58

Your anger is not unreasonable at all!

Men, rapists or not, being housed in women's prisons is horrendous. Sick and sadistic. It's a massive ''fuck you'' to the vulnerable women in there from the people who are supposed to protect them.

Shelefttheweb · 31/01/2023 00:15

Not yet, there has been interest in a rapist in prison but no one is discussing how once he is out, or Katie D, could follow my daughters into the changing room, share a youth hostel dorm with them, be put on my hospital ward. Or how my four year old is being taught he can chose his sex and a lifetime of medical mutilation and drugs. There needs to be a lot more.

EpicChaos · 31/01/2023 00:17

Great clip @DialSquare lol
Butterworth trying to slither past the accusation of terfery by claiming common sense, well hello! :-/
Going to call his lawyer is he? loooool! Good luck with that! 😆

Am i feeling gleeful? Well, i suppose i feel a bit like we used to feel, when teacher had left the classroom for a few minutes and you'd have a mad 5 minutes but always listening and always being alert, to the sound of footsteps coming back along the corridor.

DarkDayforMN · 31/01/2023 00:23

Watching Nicola Sturgeon having to answer for her actions was wildly satisfying 😋 🚬

so yes.

though in reality a couple of awkward TV interviews aren’t even scratching the surface of accountability for this human rights abuse clusterfuck. But it was just so amazing to see any accountability. I want more!! I want politicians and “activists” and funders confronted with the consequences of their actions and made to explain themselves. Bastards.

ScrollingLeaves · 31/01/2023 00:24

There still need to be changes made to reverse the terrible mess made by gender ideology. For anyone who has not yet seen it, this petition is to update the Equality Act to make clear the characteristic ‘sex ‘ is biological sex.

With 100,000 signatures the government might consider a debate. They responded after the first 10,000 and were trying to make out everything was fine as it is.

What is there to be "gleeful" about? Wouldn't you rather the double rape didn't happen at all to begin with?

The decision of where to send transwomen was always decided on a case-by-case basis anyway, this isn't the first time a transwoman has been sent to a male prison. Also the 5 transwomen who are in women's prisons are there for non-violent offences. Nothing has changed, and this has nothing to do with Scotland's GRC proposals.

Not quite a bag but

DarkDayforMN · 31/01/2023 00:36

Oh do shut the ould pie hole. Everything has changed because the public have finally woken up to the appalling abuse that is happening to women in prison and because the public aren’t in fact total fucking scum, despite the fond imaginings of the abusers who push these policies, they are not on board with it. They’re
angry about it, as any decent human being should be.

Of course we wish he'd never raped anyone FFS.

NO MEN IN THE FEMALE PRISON ESTATE EVER NOT EVEN THE ONES WHO PRETEND TO BE WOMEN THINK THEY ARE WOMEN OR HAVE COMMITTED THE RIGHT SORT OF CRIME

Hahahaha who quotes that shitty biased rag anyway? It’s full of mince.

Nicola Sturgeon will be remembered as a destroyer of women’s rights. And the SNP don’t speak for Scotland. The National is for idiots who blindly believe whatever they’re spoonfed.

GrimDamnFanjo · 31/01/2023 00:41

Hmmm I just feel a bit fearful.
I look at where the natural conclusion was heading before women started pushing back and it still worries me.
I'm hoping we are getting some momentum now though.
