After so many years seemingly howling in the wind, FINALLY the MSM are taking the issues , seriously, it's on front page news, discussed in Westminster, BBC, ITV, C4,it's all over Twitter, even the bloody GUARDIAN is reporting on it, and, by the outrage over Adam Graham, the convicted rapist being put in a women's jail, it looks like we are on the right side of history after all...

Butterworth’s position is only logical if he thinks that putting women in men’s prisons is acceptable under some circumstances. I wish they’d asked him to clarify which women he thinks should be put in men’s prisons and how they would be kept safe. Placing women, even violent ones, in men’s prisons is such a cruel and inhumane punishment that, though I understand it’s legal in extreme cases, it’s not actually used.

I can’t say glee is in there for me. It’s been too long and there have been too many false dawns. But with each lightening moment, it does seem more unlikely that we will ever go back to the time when women who object to this ideology were not just ridiculed and bullied, but were largely invisible.

I can’t deny that I am watching Nicola Sturgeon finally being openly challenged and (as we have known to be the case for some time) wholly unable to defend her position.

EndlessTea · 31/01/2023 07:02

I don’t feel glee really. I feel more the kind of emotion you had if you pulled up your carpets and discovered you had dry rot.

How was James Morton, someone with no qualification to do so, able to write prison guidelines and have them rubber stamped and implemented, causing a decade of psychological torture and intimidation and sexual abuse to vulnerable women in prisons? Is there going to be an investigation?

How was Scotland’s devolved parliament so easily captured by dubious sexual fetishists and their handmaidens, and for this to influence policy across the whole UK? How was it that there was no recourse for SMPs like Joanna Cherry, to allow disagreement and debate and protect Holyrood from extremism?

How was it that people who were clearly insane, some of them criminally so, given power to influence policy?

Why, when MW lied on his application form to work with vulnerable women, was he not sacked when the truth came out? Why was his captured organisation used to present the voices of the women’s sector?

So many questions. The rot is deep.

KohlaParasaurus · 31/01/2023 07:07

Gleeful? Yes, a bit. "See, I WASN'T exaggerating. It COULD happen. It WAS happening." For I am an actual woman with a full complement of female socialisation and it's in my nature to question myself when other people don't believe me.

But I'll be anxious until KJK's rally in Glasgow and the FWS demo next week have passed uneventfully. An abuser backed into a corner is dangerous.

oviraptor21 · 31/01/2023 07:11

Having just seen the government's response to the Repeal the GRA petition, no 😕

I don't know if you're joking Boiled but I've thought that for a long time.

bellinisurge · 31/01/2023 07:13

3 people who are mutual follows on Twitter and with whom I engage on non- GC related stuff, have started liking my posts and retweets. And two have openly agreed with me.
This group has seen a few DMs slagging off other GC (hate that term) mutuals. The dropping of that one led me to me more overt (still in Twitter touch with that one). I e also been dropped by a few now.
I know this all sounds rather teenage nonsense (I'm late 50s and don't know any other way to describe it). The point I'm making is I think that people are getting braver online. So keep talking.

bellinisurge · 31/01/2023 07:17

And yes, I am a bit gleeful but there's a long way to go. We need Starmer to get asked more on this with proper journalistic enquiry.
We need to end mis-sexing of rapists in media reports. It's coming but so is the pushback

guinnessguzzler · 31/01/2023 07:23

It really is checkmate @StalkedByASpider and actually even the tra responses on this thread show why. It's been no debate because they can't debate, because none of it makes sense. And simply repeating TWAW, TW have always been in your spaces, nothing has changed, isn't the winning argument some might think it is. Women have been subjected to emotional abuse and manipulation forever so we can see it a mile off. Those tactics worked when the majority had no idea what was going on and felt sorry for the people they had been told were the most vulnerable. The problem is, gaslighting stops working when you turn on the big light.

Musomama1 · 31/01/2023 07:23

I'm talking more, still hearing a mixture of muddled thinking though.

What I hope for is that folks can believe TWAW etc the same way as a Jehovah's Witness believes in whatever they believe in.

But that life and law is grounded in reality when sex matters. Prisons are are a start.

QueenHippolyta · 31/01/2023 07:27

And Lesbians are same-sex attracted females!

there is no such thing as a transwoman, just men who identify as women.

The moral of this story: Ladies don't be kind

MarshaBradyo · 31/01/2023 07:28

Yep it’s great.

I’m so pleased and grateful to those who kept going all this time

MarshaBradyo · 31/01/2023 07:29

Although agree with pp still a way to go but good to have a moment

Unfortunately for them “cunty” is the one thing those people will never be, especially as 90% of them insist on hanging onto their cocks.

I’m not gleeful, I’m just immensely fucked off it came to this (over and over again; this is just the one which garnered publicity thanks to timing) before anyone actually listened to one of the many, many things women have been saying for years. And there are still too many other things where people have their fingers in their ears and are determined to look the other way, so a long way to go yet.

But that cat/bag post was glorious 😁

Foxywood · 31/01/2023 07:30

I have reservations. Surely if TWAW in Scotland and a 'woman' is chucked out of a female prison then she can sue or something because the law says she is a woman - might still come out winning.

MarshaBradyo · 31/01/2023 07:33

The amount of deletions and silencing women endured

And now that post below with the blatant lie looks as ludicrous as it should.

ExiledElsie · 31/01/2023 07:39

God yes. Still loads to do but the cat is out of the bag - even the most ardent TWAW proponents have agreed it's not actually true.

Moopsi · 31/01/2023 07:43

NowDoYouBelieveMe · 31/01/2023 03:10

Trans women are women.

A lie.

ZombieMumEB · 31/01/2023 07:44

So much sunlight.

People in my circles, who never discussed this, are now bringing this up in conversation.

None believe TWAW - previously they weren't really paying attention, and now they are and are helping to spread the sunlight.

Birdsweepsin · 31/01/2023 07:49

Can we all just take a moment to reflect on Pink News' coverage of the prisons issue and Sturgeons comments?

I mean I'm no fan of Pink News but on this they have been remarkably fair and even-handed in their coverage, and that interview with respectful interview with Miriam Cates and Rosie Duffield was wonderful.

Yeah, no not really.

Not a peep.

Rainbowshit · 31/01/2023 07:51

Foxywood · 31/01/2023 07:30

Not if they don't have a GRC. They are still legally male and they can use the single sex exceptions within the equality act.

It becomes a lot harder once they have a GRC and are legally female which is why Sturgeon's GRR legally bringing in self ID was such a bad idea.

HisRoyalWhineness · 31/01/2023 08:05

MargaritaPie · 31/01/2023 02:00

I give fucks about all the witches.

To quote Emma Watson.

You lost me at ''to quote Emma Watson'' - that well-known thinker and perfume advert cultural spokesperson 😁

cosmiccosmos · 31/01/2023 08:06

I am encouraged that the massive coverage this has had in msm is excellent for helping people understand the issue.

I would like to see this continue and for msm to highlight what is going on in schools and sports.

Until u hear the truth - transwomen are not women they are men and do not belong in any female space, I won't be happy. We also need to mindful that Labour will likely win the next election, they are so TWAW that I fear they will push new laws through.

Madamecastafiore · 31/01/2023 08:06

A little bit but I'll be truly happy when this utter nonsense is seen as what it is. Body dysmorphia in some, confusion in others and a sexual kink (in a great many, mainly men, because I won't use the phrase trans women).

AlisonDonut · 31/01/2023 08:09

Not, not gleeful at all.

We still have so far to go to get this insanity out of the NHS, schools, corporations, colleges, universities, girl guides etc etc etc and we have a huge mountain still to climb.

This all relies on good people now saying 'should we review our policies to enable the safety and dignity of women and girls under the Equality Act' and if nobody does that, we still have a huge problem.
