A woman has been found guilty of raping two women when she was a man. Happened in Scotland. She hasn’t been sentenced yet - but where will she serve her sentence? In the womens prison?!
This is going to mean some serious discussions and tough times for the Scottish government. But it was surely only a matter of time before something like this happened.

I'm glad to say that BBC Scotland news is now showing the before picture and saying that he's in a woman's jail much more neutral reporting now

This is a key point - all these politicians and celebrities supporting this don't have to live in the real world. They aren't using loo's in service stations late at night, aren't in changing rooms in Primark, they are utterly cossetted from the impact of what they are forcing on the rest of us.

I came across this, Susie McCabe (a comedian? No, me neither) speaking up for the rapist (he's someone's son daughter). She speaks so movingly, you'd have to have a heart of stone, etc.

Anyway an edited clip is posted on twitter. It's all kicked off. She's threatening legal action, claiming the clip has been cut to make it look like she is defending a rapist. Has anyone heard of her or seen the full segment?

This is a great point because once you acknowledge this shouldn't be happening you have to follow the entire argument to its logical conclusion. Or create more nonsense by deciding there should be some exceptions to TWAW. Which the baying mob won't allow.

Totally agree, once you accept that one trans isn't a woman then it blows your whole argument apart.

But Nicola, if it's unacceptable for him to be housed in a woman's prison, why is it acceptable for him to be in ANY woman's space?

I mean, at least the women in prison knew he was a raping bastard - once he's released (probably in single digit years) then he could be in any woman's space and none of us would know.

If he's not safe enough to be in a woman's jail he's not safe enough to be in any women's spaces. And as rapists don't come with giant tattoos women have no way of distinguishing between a convicted rapist in pink leggings, an unconvicted sex abuser in pink leggings, or somebody with crippling dysphoria in pink leggings. So none of them should be in women's single sex spaces.

The only thing that could make this whole mess worse, is for the prisoner to sue the Scottish government for interference with their rights

Peter Tatchell being so wrong. Even if you thought his stance had any validity, where is the underfunded prison service going to find the money to indulge this individual's luxury belief. What other services and treatments for the inmates and staff would be cut?

Yes you’re right. This whole saga has unveiled this farce for what it really is. As I said the other day, I think that what has made more people take notice this time is the fact that Bryson looks so masculine. The tattoos, the physique - there is no getting away from the fact that Bryson is a male in female clothing. This was rightly picked up by mainstream media as it was so farcical and the result has been NS and her cronies getting an absolute dressing down and NS backpedaling at the speed of light.

As you say, this is just proof that these policies and proposals do not work. They are not fit for purpose and ultimately NS has had to give in and more or less agree that a male wearing womens clothing is still a male, and therefore still a threat in womens spaces. And the crux of this is, NS cannot have it all. She either agrees with self ID or she doesn’t. She can’t step in every time someone looks a bit too masculine to be taken seriously as a woman. So either transwomen are ALL women, or they’re not really women at all.

R4 has just been talking to a women’s prison governor called Rhona. She was spectacular

She’s come across many TIMs who have “exposed their male genitalia” in prison and has never come across a TIM in a women’s prison who has had surgery. She said that until this prisoner actively threatens or assaults a women in prison, they will be allowed to associate with women.
She also pointed out that whilst Sturgeon has said this rapist will not stay in this prison, she has not said she will not go to another women’s prison.

The tide is turning, the sunlight is coming in and the rose tinted glasses are coming off. New ears have been opened to this. People have been outraged this week, many will have paid no mind to the trans debate prior to Bryson. I think this will open the floodgates now for more MPs and prominent figures to be able to stand up and say what they really think about TWAW, without the use of word salad and doing a metaphorical 100 mile detour around the questions and discussions.
