A woman has been found guilty of raping two women

A woman has been found guilty of raping two women when she was a man. Happened in Scotland. She hasn’t been sentenced yet - but where will she serve her sentence? In the womens prison?!
This is going to mean some serious discussions and tough times for the Scottish government. But it was surely only a matter of time before something like this happened.

Evidently, someone who draws a penis on a ballot paper wants to waste their vote. If they wanted to use it, they would have indicated who they were voting for.

AuxArmesCitoyens · 25/01/2023 08:14

Not RTFT so apologies if this has already been said but just on the issue of risk assessment, it was reported just yesterday that Zara Aleena's killer was incorrectly assessed as medium risk by the probation service. Which hardly fills one with confidence about the whole process.

But do you not understand "none of the above"? If not one candidate is worthy of your vote? What if you had a choice between EDL, BNP, National Front and Revolutionary Stalinist Party?

Which would you choose?

RoyalCorgi · 25/01/2023 08:27

You're not actually far off given the much higher proportion of sexual offenders in TIM prisoners v male prisoners.

That is an incredibly impactful visual representation of the discrepancy. Where does it come, from, WaitWhat?

If I didn't think any candidate standing was worthy of representing me I would stand myself. I wouldn't draw genitals on my ballot paper. Maybe some people get thrills from the thought of the people counting the votes having to see an obscene graffito. I don't.

SinnerBoy · 25/01/2023 08:41

Oh dear.

BellePeppa · 25/01/2023 08:42

Why is Scotland (or Nichola Sturgeon) so keen on this nonsense? What’s in it for them and what on earth is in it for NS? I’m very baffled by Scotland at the moment.

RoyalCorgi · 25/01/2023 08:43

I mentioned earlier on the thread (or possibly on another thread, I can't find it now) an article I'd read that listed the times "struggling with gender identity" was accepted by judges as a mitigating factor. I've just found it, as someone posted it on Twitter:

www.womenarehuman.com/too-good-for-prison-9-times-judges-decided-being-transgender-is-punishment-enough/

of course you would, perfectly rational thing to do

not really an option for many people for various reasons

There's a report saying that he'll probably go into the segregation wing, but a review must be held, in case their feelings are hurt. There are still women in segregation. What about them?

And what's wrong with seg in the male prison

lyson · 25/01/2023 08:52

I'll be interested to see what bloody Lorraine makes of this. Given she's #bekind.

Bet it's completely ignored.

lyson · 25/01/2023 08:56

Stupid article from the Times www.thetimes.co.uk/article/rapist-preyed-on-two-gender-switch-llkpdx2x2

'Trans woman'
'When she was a man'
No mention of going to a women's prison

No, it's an option for everyone. What circumstances justify, in your mind, forcing public servants to look at drawings of penises when they are trying to support a democratic process?

SkydiveMonty · 25/01/2023 08:57

MakingMarlsAndOtherThings · 25/01/2023 00:46

Totally agree. Northern Scotland here, There is no good choice here but I’ll be voting Conservative because as a woman I simply cannot support SNP/Green in any way.

I'm further south in Scotland - never voted Tory before. I will now.

You sound terribly prim.

lyson · 25/01/2023 08:59

Why do threads like these always devolve into a fight between a couple of posters?

The thread is about a male rapist being sent to a women's prison.

Your opinion doesn't matter.

Julia Hartley Brewer is in full flow raging about this case now on Talk Tv/radio. Good to see somebody telling the truth

Needmoresleep · 25/01/2023 09:11

Thread disrupters. It is deliberate. Some good regular posters then refuse to allow their assertions to go incorrected. The advantage is that casual readers see how few arguments there are to support the idea of placing men in women’s prisons.

That said there are often arguments for ‘Don’t feed the troll’.

(From the timing of posts, spelling and references, it is clear that several more argumentative posters are not in the Uk.)

Who exactly is there that you CAN vote for if you are a woman?

Even if Rosie Duffield is your MP, a vote for her is a vote for Labour to destroy womens lives even more than they are already being destroyed in the name of transideology.

So who exactly is there to vote for that isn't turkeys voting for Thanksgiving?

Whilst no one should be subject to distress at work, if that were to upset them they may take a moment to reflect on how, if a scribbled approximation of a cartoon penis upsets them, incarcerated women may be many many times more afraid of the real penis locked up with them?

Vote for whoever you want to. Same as with men.

Childrenofthestones · 25/01/2023 09:18

So I'm slow typing, take me out and shoot me why don't you.😁
If you go to the ten minutes before 9.11 it will be there👍

I agree. It is difficult to know who to vote for these days. I was amused when there was a thread on this section about a week ago where someone had complained about mumsnet being in politics. One of the reasons I think mumsnet is a semi political forum is because so many of us feel isolated in mainstream politics.
