I thought MPs were bound by some standards of behaviour?

Yesterday the leader of the SNP at WM called his peers 'rabid gammon', which was shocking, but what I found more disturbing was Llloyd Russell-Moyle's verbal attack on Miriam Cates (clip above).

I actually found his behaviour frightening and alarming, and can't imagine how it must feel to have that venom directed at you by a colleague - let alone the slanderous accusations made.

Is it possible to make a complaint to the Labour Party about his behaviour?

He'll be round to break your windows!

Bellaisoneluckywoman · 20/01/2023 14:52

You are NOT the only one. Bravo to all who have submitted formal complaints. If I allow myself to dwell on this issue too long I risk falling into a pit of fury and despair so deep I worry I may never get out again.

And hurrah for Glinner being back on Twitter. So delightfully direct and unapologetic about pointing out the BS.

ScrollingLeaves · 20/01/2023 14:53

I did the complaint form. I hope that does not mean that ‘captured’ interns just delete it and any other complaint they don’t like.

If I get more energy I’ll write to more, like you did Boiledbeetle

SinnerBoy · 20/01/2023 14:54

I had an email response, so, presumably, it cannot just be deleted.

I hope....

Why not both?

I will do that.

MorvenOfMalvern · 20/01/2023 15:41

You're not the only one.

I've shared the form and Rosie's article everywhere, do the same. Send the form link to any of your TERFy coven

Just this prick alone will ensure I never vote Labour.

That's exactly how I feel. Imagine if these people actually had power.

HelenHywater · 20/01/2023 15:48

I have also complained to the Labour Party. I did call him Lloyd Russell-Mole by mistake.

Horrible Horrible man. I know someone who is a close friend of his and have no clue how she can be so.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/01/2023 15:48

The sight of abusive men using parliament to openly threaten and abuse a women is grim. If the physical attempt at intimidation by moving towards her and staring in an attempt to use his physical size and power to intimidate her, then surely that's a workplace disciplinary offence - even in the misogynistic Labour party?

PronounssheRa · 20/01/2023 16:11

It's intimidation. Moving that close to her in the chamber.

I have no faith that the Labour leadership will do anything about it. I hope I'm wrong though

Violetparis · 20/01/2023 16:40

I am wondering if copying any complaints to Lindsay Hoyle, the speaker of the House of Commons is worth doing too.

DevilinaCardigan · 20/01/2023 16:46

I've complained about him to the Labour party. I made the point that I wouldn't be able to vote for Labour if he is the candidate. prick

A PP said - Sadly with the state of things he’s unlikely to be ousted any time soon- the constituency consists of uni students, Brighton’s gay village and several deprived areas that are getting shat on by the Government on a daily basis.
True, but his area also cover smaller villages that are more traditional than Brighton. My mainly families and rather conservative (small c). At our local primary school there was an outcry when they tried to set up gender neutral toilets. Parents were NOT happy and no one even mentioned the word 'trans'.

SinnerBoy · 20/01/2023 17:38

It has to be against the HoP Code of Conduct, surely? The more attention this gets, the better. None of the news sites seem to be reporting him moving to the opposite bench, to intimidate Miriam Cates. Not even the Mail.

I mean, compare and contrast:

Sorry, i've posted this on a few threads but it's a v easy form -

Found this form. Interestingly, and surprisingly you can tick a box to say you're complaining about sexism and misogyny!

labour.org.uk/complaints/making-a-complaint/

I've used this to complain, very straightforward. The follow up email says you will not get updated if it's about a third person, so we might not find out if any action is taken.

ResisterRex · 20/01/2023 17:47

This was supposed to be one of those awful memories we all have from 30+ years ago

Honestly I think the vast majority of men would never have dared behave like this back then. Or thought to. It's not the vast majority now, but there's a worrying large enough contingent - and that contingent seems to be increasing in number.

DanseAvecLesLoups · 20/01/2023 17:53

I submitted a formal complaint to the labour party earlier. The man is odious cunt

Oh I know i think i did then say some, but i did get more than my fair share as a 16 year old in construction. I honestly can't believe we are back to that shit and worse!

It's not just uneducated idiots anymore though it's supposedly professional educated men entrusted to represent the wishes of thousands of men AND women.

ResisterRex · 20/01/2023 18:01

Builders' sites yes. Had the same. But this is an enclosed place of work (place of law!) covered in cameras. What possessed him?!

This is not going away (good):

The guy that tweeted that it's the guy that's sat next to Miriam putting himself between Lloyd and her once Lloyd had crossed over isn't it? I've got to get my eyes tested this year!!

Boiledbeetle · 20/01/2023 18:12

Of course it is I've just read the text in the tweet instead of peering at the pictures.

2023 and women MPs need male colleagues to protect them from angry male opposition!

What a shit show!

I appreciate Paul Bristow MP for noticing and putting himself between Russell Mole and Miriam Cates but fuck me, shouldn’t be necessary! It’s her workplace!

I know it's a weird one. I'm glad he's noticed the threat and the risk and put himself between Lloyd and lloyds target, but they are MPs in Parliament. In the 21st century. It's so what the fuck? I'm just gobsmacked. I'm glad i hadn't known about this when i did all my complaints.

ResisterRex · 20/01/2023 18:33

There are some clips of it here
