What does living as a woman actually mean?

So if the Scottish parliament votes for the new law, and someone can obtain a certificate stating they're a woman because they have lived as one for 3 months ... is there a definition, description or checklist to ensure the individual has done everything needed? I have a horrid feeling I may now not be a woman under such a definition!

Isn't it high heels, lipstick and pillow fights?

I mean actually I have no idea.

Riverlee · 21/12/2022 21:43

I’ve wondered that also. I wore trousers today, does that make me a man?

dementedpixie · 21/12/2022 21:43

Lipstick, long hair, high heels and a spinny skirt?

Swashbuckled · 21/12/2022 21:43

As the proposed age is 16, probably asking for their name to be changed in the school register... 🫤

This is what worries me. I can't walk in heels and am allergic to feathers...

People using feminine pronouns for you?

People using feminine pronouns for you?

Well that wouldn’t work as a definition

Soontobe60 · 21/12/2022 21:49

This woman is currently sat watching rubbish TV, DH is in the next room watching football. I don’t ‘do’ womanhood. I ‘am’ a woman. It’s a physical state of being that myself, and every other adult human female has not control over because it’s literally a stage in the life cycle of humans.

catandcoffee · 21/12/2022 21:52

Maybe there's a secret check list.

dudsville · 21/12/2022 21:52

I wish when they wrote that the understood how unobtainable it was and therefore were clearly stating the impossible.

yourhairiswinterfire · 21/12/2022 21:53

Isn't it high heels, lipstick and pillow fights?

And spinning around in fields, rolling down hills and gazing lovingly at tampons according to that 'day 45 of girlhood' muppet.

Swashbuckled · 21/12/2022 21:54

There’s a bloke in the next village who dresses as a woman.

But I first came across him on social media advertising his services as a plumber under his woman name. I was impressed and wanted to support her as she had built up a sizeable business. I thought of all the stick she’d have received, working for decades in a male dominated field; all the sexism and discrimination she must have faced and took my hat off to her. Decided to use her for my boiler.

Scrolled idly through her FB account to discover she was a he. All that fucking misplaced empathy… Three months, you say?

Probablymagrat · 21/12/2022 21:55

Whatever it is, and I have no idea, I bet it wont include earning 30% less, doing most of the housework, child care, sending all the christmas and birthday cards and buying all the sodding presents.

JacquelinePot · 21/12/2022 21:57

I think the legislation gives the example (I paraphrase) having a feminine name as evidenced by your gas bill

Jaffapaffa · 21/12/2022 21:57

The ability to hover above a toilet seat and not actually touch it?

Form1ess · 21/12/2022 21:59

MSPs have provided no definition apart from using female forms of address. So all Big Beardy Brian needs to do is change his name to Ms Bryony and 3 months later he's in turning up in the female communal changing rooms.

FOJN · 21/12/2022 22:01

The list of things that have not been defined and are probably about to be codified into law is long and terrifying.

Happy days.

Living as a woman...

Well, it means living with XX chromosomes, having gone through female puberty, having a vagina, not having a penis

It's simple isn't it?

Do you get many farmers confused about what is a cow, and what a bull? How can they identify this difference in other species? How can you tell a bitch from a dog?

Why are we forced to be deliberately obtuse on this issue?

We all KNOW what a woman is

I hear you

FourChimneys · 21/12/2022 22:10

I was also going to say it's living in a human body with xx chromosomes. No other definition required.

Fucking this.

What an absolute SHIT show.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/12/2022 22:11

Such a load of utter baloney. Coming at this from the other perspective, what does it mean to live as a man? Freddy McConnell got a GRC on 11th April 2017, and was artificially inseminated on 21st April 2017. How many natal males do we think celebrate their masculinity by heading off to the fertility clinic to see if they can gestate a baby? Then of course Freddy had the utter unmitigated gall to try to get the law changed so Freddy would be recorded as the baby's father, not mother. Fortunately that failed.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 21/12/2022 22:16

Being "calm and respectful" is a definition I saw.

Well, that's a lot of trans-identifying males disqualified then, isn't it?!

According to a large tranche of useless MN husbands, being a woman is doing everything for family apart from when man puts the bins out "for you"

Hepwo · 21/12/2022 22:25

Living as a woman for men is switching to using women's toilets.

It's pathetic.
