I can't see a thread on this, but she is starting a new party and will run in elections.

Can these MPs not see the way the tide is turning ? Women are getting more and more angry with this nonsense.

I think the problem is that women here are getting angry, but out in everyday life people sign at pronouns, and don't appreciate what is happening in schools or sport until it impacts them.
I think there is still an assumption (now totally proved wrong by Scotland) that this is such obvious rubbish that it won't go anywhere.

happydappy2 · 08/12/2022 08:51

Genius-I love it! This is far too much of an important issue to ignore-politicians must stick up for truth and reality. There IS a clash of rights if males can legally become women, it IS harmful to tell children they've been born in the wrong body & it's NOT hateful to call a man a man.

HappinessAlley · 08/12/2022 09:05

Interesting that she's running against Keir Starmer.

I suspect this will be at best a damp squib (I remember Katie Price running for election) and at worse, do damage to the cause.

Roguebludger · 08/12/2022 09:09

I hope she has a candidate in my area, politically homeless no more!!

Numsmetbunfight · 08/12/2022 09:10

KJK is not Katie Price. I should imagine that bringing these issues to the fore and forcing them to be openly discussed by the opposition can only be good for the cause.

HappinessAlley · 08/12/2022 09:17

Nums, I disagree. Everything I know tells me she's not good for the cause. She has associated with incredibly distasteful people, and it reflects badly on her, and by extension, the cause. This is why new political parties often struggle. They bring in the "nutters" and "fruitcakes". Just look at all the UKIP spin-offs over the years.

Shes not planning on winning,,only getting the message out there.

What cause?

Onnabugeisha · 08/12/2022 09:21

I don’t think KJK could withstand the public scrutiny that comes with standing for an election. This could backfire on her massively.

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:22

There is no cause. There is a single issue. Sex is real and it matters in some situations. When it matters it really matters. It matters most for women and children. Simple.

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:23

To the poster who said she can't withstand the scrutiny - you obviously don't follow her closely.

Onnabugeisha · 08/12/2022 09:27

Oh, I do. I would suggest you don’t follow her closely enough.

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:28

Yet another year has gone by with the opposition parties refusing to publicly address the concerns of many many women and mothers. Moreover eroding female boundaries and the safeguarding of kids further and further in the process. There will come a tipping point when it is too late to do anything, it is close now. If those who feel strongly about this not happening are not going to simply slink away and allow it, this is a good call.

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:29

Onnabugeisha · 08/12/2022 09:27

cryptic - elucidate if you want to!

2358853b · 08/12/2022 09:29

Interesting! I remember there being lots of interviews by the likes of Woman's Hour when the WEP was set up – I wonder if the same will apply here, especially considering the exclusive focus on women's rights?

ResisterRex · 08/12/2022 09:30

Ooh I wonder if it's nearly time for those screen shots with no links or citation, of her supposedly saying things that never end up with a source to appear on this thread?

HappinessAlley · 08/12/2022 09:30

Moonatics · 08/12/2022 09:20

What cause?

Two definitions of cause I could find are "a socially valuable principle that is strongly supported by some people" or "a principle, aim, or movement that, because of a deep commitment, one is prepared to defend or advocate"

It's indisputable that KJK does have a cause - advocating the principle that biological sex exists and matters.

HappinessAlley · 08/12/2022 09:35

The major problem, as I am sure has been pointed out, is that he has shared platforms with pretty unpleasant people. If you're Joanne Bloggs, that's ok, but as Jerermy Corbyn found out, if you're a politician, you're getting to get attacked for those associations.

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:38

Streuth!!! This again.

HappinessAlley · 08/12/2022 09:39

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:38

Streuth!!! This again.

That's indeed the point - it will come up again and again if she runs for MP.

Numsmetbunfight · 08/12/2022 09:42

And may she have the airspace to put right those who have willfully misunderstood her or listen to unsubstantiated claims made about her. Anything to blow this debate wide open and force the other political parties to stop obfuscating and be crystal clear about what their policies are.

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:42

What I am hearing from HappinessAlley is sit down and shut up!

Numsmetbunfight · 08/12/2022 09:43

And may we reconvene in a year or so's time and see whether she has indeed been effective or not. My bets are on it being a very positive move.

JoodyBlue · 08/12/2022 09:44
she addresses this at around 43 mins. I think she does a good job.

indeed, happy to be proved wrong.

beastlyslumber · 08/12/2022 10:04

Oh god the un-evidenced slurs and accusations of guilt by association.

I'm going to take a wild guess here that the general public are not going to be fooled that some people standing near you in a park is the same as being an actual nazi.

It's a brilliant move by KJK and of course the TRAs and their friends here are going to be absolutely shitting themselves. Seriously I expect quite a few to give up now, because the writing is on the wall.
