I can't see a thread on this, but she is starting a new party and will run in elections.

If you'd like the thread to end on a more serious note Onnabugeisha, maybe you could tell us who these MPs are who say all women's rights matter?

As in this post an hour or so ago:
But I prefer to vote for MPs who say all womens rights matter.

I'd love to know which MPs you had in mind and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

How can I know who is standing for election in two years time across the entire U.K.? That’s an impossible ask.

Hepwo · 10/12/2022 20:12

So it's not true that the threat to abortion is growing in the UK?

More bullshit.

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 10/12/2022 20:14

Onnabugeisha · 10/12/2022 19:52

You see this a lot when the #posts gets close to the 1000 post limit for a thread.
Posters will post a ton of random nonsense so the thread can be closed.
They’re terrified they won’t have the last words on a subject.
Its all part of the game to silence dissent.

Yep.
My fave so far is the poster on a thread that just repeatedly posted "Weetabix!" for posts until the thread filled up, it was utterly bizarre, a sight to behold 😂

AutumnCrow · 10/12/2022 20:15

Boiledbeetle · 10/12/2022 19:42

its going to be interesting to see what is said to her when she wants to put up her posters as a political party.

All those that would normally say no can keep on saying no and then they'll be even more stuff in the press about it and how they are denying her her political rights or they can put the signs up like they have to and face the wrath of the unknowing who see the posters but don't realise it's a political campaign poster and can't understand why the shouting that worked before to get them taken down doesn't work this time.

KJK will have a field day.

This is the 2021 version of the Joint Guidance from the Electoral Commission and the College of Policing and national police chiefs, regarding literature and statements put out during the election period (normally the 6 weeks preceding polling day). Note that it protects the candidates as much as the recipients of their leaflets and viewers of their posters.

“Menacing” means creating a sense of apprehension or fear in the likely recipient.

There is a high threshold to meet the objective test of whether or not the
communication is “grossly offensive”. A prosecution is only viable where the
communication in question crosses the high threshold necessary to protect freedom of expression, even unwelcome freedom of expression, particularly in the course of robust political debate. Communication which is merely any one of the following, is likely to be protected as freedom of expression [my underlining]

a. Offensive, shocking or disturbing; or
b. Satirical, iconoclastic or rude comment; or
c. The expression of unpopular or unfashionable opinion about serious or trivial matters, or banter or humour, even if distasteful to some or painful to those subjected to it; or
d. An uninhibited and ill thought-out contribution to a casual conversation where participants expect a certain amount of repartee or “give and take”.

This aside, candidates once registered officially are sent a candidates' letter with details of a single point of contact for the police (a telephone number) and instructions about personal security and using 999 if harrassed. Harrassment of parliamentary candidates is taken very seriously.

Boiledbeetle · 10/12/2022 20:15

Onnabugeisha · 10/12/2022 20:12

How can I know who is standing for election in two years time across the entire U.K.? That’s an impossible ask.

But surely as this is so important to you you will know which ones of the current batch match your exacting standards and which ones don't. Tell us the names of those ones

NecessaryScene · 10/12/2022 20:17

Tell us the names of those ones

Indeed - you said "you prefer to vote", not "you would prefer to vote", meaning it was a thing you already do. (I can clearly parse the meaning from your words like this - there's no other way of interpreting it in plain English.)

So who are those you vote for?

Onnabugeisha · 10/12/2022 20:18

PomegranateOfPersephone · 10/12/2022 19:59

Not wanting to personally ever come into contact with a right-winger is a perfectly reasonable position, but you have no right to demand it of anyone else, and if you reach the point of refusing to touch anyone who's touched anyone who's touched a right-winger, you're just not going to be very effective, are you?

I agree with you in part but thinking about it I’m not sure I would agree that not wanting to come into personal contact with a right winger is a reasonable position. It seems, as you say, rather self sabotaging to limit oneself to a bubble but also a hindrance to achieving a cohesive, functioning society of the kind that might be genuinely caring and inclusive. Trying to avoid anyone who has ever associated with anyone who you disagree with would, I suggest, be bad for the mental health of the lonely, obsessive individual and dangerously polarising for society as a whole if too many people did this.

For sure I agree with you it is certainly ineffective as an approach. Talking to anyone willing to listen and/or engage seems to me absolutely the right approach.

But right wingers do not go around saying that raping little boys is “mentoring” or tweeting rape jokes or using the N word or the C word for an Asian person, or using homophobic slurs…so I am shocked as to why you think associating with such a person is even comparable to being friendly with a right winger.

You can’t be serious that you’d talk to anyone. You must have a boundary somewhere.

Shinyredbicycle · 10/12/2022 20:19

Rather late to this thread but yes, the threat to abortion is growing in the UK.

Whether that's relevant to KJK setting up a political party is another discussion, but it's very naive to think that the UK will somehow be immune from the roll back of abortion rights in the US and many parts of Europe.

Moonatics · 10/12/2022 20:20

Boiledbeetle · 10/12/2022 20:08

@Moonatics the pigs in blankets were truly awful if anyone is thinking of getting the Sainsbury's taste the difference truffle ones don't do it

I could go a cinnamon roll right now. I'll just do you a plate of the other bits then we can swap.

Cool,

Hands over sacred cinnamon bun or three. Off to scoff picky bits minus truffle flavoured piggies.

They’ve all lost, so I don’t remember their names. I research all the candidates in my district and vote for the best one.

Boiledbeetle · 10/12/2022 20:20

@AutumnCrow so a dictionary definition is going to be the political slogan of the next election that is going to be the one that's remembered!

And honestly if someone tries to claim a dictionary definition is menacing or grosly offensive let them get on with it.

This

Yes, and this is what Jacob Rees Mogg said was the reason why he was rejecting the petition to add abortion rights to the U.K. Bill of Rights. It wasn’t because our rights are perfectly safe and sacrosanct and need no extra protection:

www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/local-news/jacob-rees-mogg-calls-abortion-7876914

“I think the destruction of life is wrong. I do not believe that we should say that a new life should be destroyed.
"I do not believe that that is the right of the state. I do not believe we can put it into a Bill of Rights, even if we were the United States and had a Bill of Rights of the same constitutional standing as theirs. The hon. Member for North Antrim is right. He said that Bills of Rights are usually about protecting and preserving and ensuring that people are able to get on with their life.
"This is about destroying life. This is the cult of death. It is the great tragedy of abortion, and it is considered normal.
"The extraordinarily high number of babies that are destroyed is something that should sadden us all to the depths of our souls. The idea that we would protect something that is so wrong and ignores that second life, and that we should say that it is an absolute right on par with free elections, seems to me to be an absolute tragedy.
"I think this petition misfires. I think it is wrong constitutionally and much more wrong morally, because it prefers death to life."

Helleofabore · 10/12/2022 20:25

Onnabugeisha · 10/12/2022 15:33

Why do you post the way you do? Calling truth lies, exaggerating thrown eggs as more violent than being shot or run over to death, literally going to other threads to cut and paste things completely out of context to smear me- that’s unhinged behaviour right there, asking loaded questions that are blatantly manipulative and far from genuine.

When I posted that abortion rights are extremely important because it risks womens lives, thousands of women and girls and no one has died yet due to transgenderism. You responded by posting the names of two transgender criminals saying “their victims would disagree” and accused me of misogyny and ignorance…deliberately not mentioning that their victims were not killed. Leaving it vague, to imply to all the readers that criminals you mentioned were murderers and I was ignorant.

Their victims had suffered voyeurism and assault not murder. Then when I point that out, that my point was lack of abortion rights = DEATH and transgender ideology hasn’t actually killed any women and your two criminals hadn’t killed anyone, you then accuse me of minimising sexual assault! it’s not minimising to point out the original point I made was about women dying and that you were deliberately trying to obfuscate that.

You are patently dishonest and manipulative in how you post. When you get the evidence you demand after calling someone a liar, you go into full on denial and character assassination.

Then you wonder why some of us get angry with you on MN. You wonder why we resort to sarcasm. And don’t think I haven’t noticed how you’ve stopped shortening my name to Onna and started calling me “bug”…as some sort of sick provocation to dehumanise me into an insect. Which of course, your response will be full on faux innocence denial.

Calling truth lies, exaggerating thrown eggs as more violent than being shot or run over to death, literally going to other threads to cut and paste things completely out of context to smear me- that’s unhinged behaviour right there, asking loaded questions that are blatantly manipulative and far from genuine.

Please post any timestamp where I have absurdly said that eggs are more violent than being shot or run over to death.

Do you honestly not see your posts? Who the fuck would say such a thing? And yet, you are here posting that I have. Tell you what. Find the post and post it. Just go and find it, it is not many posts and hey, you can even you 'see all' because I am the OP.

literally going to other threads to cut and paste things completely out of context to smear me. I am 'literally' posting your words, in your posts to point out your dishonest posting style.

that’s unhinged behaviour right there,

Really.... righto. And posting post after post minimising the violence against a small scaled protest isn't dismissing it in reality??

asking loaded questions that are blatantly manipulative and far from genuine

Asking 'loaded questions'? Really? On MN FWR? I am genuinely laughing at that one.

Right, here we go again. Please, post where I have done this. I just checked and I have not accused you of misogyny on this thread. Nor ignorance.

Yet, you have ever so confidently posted that I have.

I will accuse you of lying here. Because I have not done this. I believe you have mistaken me for someone else.

When you get the evidence you demand after calling someone a liar, you go into full on denial and character assassination.

Please can you post examples of me assassinating your character?

Pointing out the tactics you use? Is that character assassination?

Pointing out that you constantly make wild accusations such as racist, and child abuse, just to name two accusations you have levelled at me this week? Is that character assassination? Have I accused you of anything except dismissing violence and using manipulative tactics? Have I called you anything '.... ist' for instance? Ageist? Sexist? Anything?

Pointing out the inconsistencies in your posts? Is that character assassination?

And don’t think I haven’t noticed how you’ve stopped shortening my name to Onna and started calling me “bug”…as some sort of sick provocation to dehumanise me into an insect.

As I said, I do shorten user names. This was not my intention to dehumanise you. I apologise.

You can’t be serious that you’d talk to anyone. You must have a boundary somewhere.

Of course I'd talk to anyone in general. If you mean "grant an interview to", then sure, I'd have a boundary.

And I have no idea which side of it Carl Benjamin ends up on - I see no reason to accept your characterisation of him as any more accurate than I can see your characterisation of KJK isn't, (knowing her better than I do Carl Benjamin).

My boundary is obviously not going to be the same as anyone else's and I'm not going to denounce anyone else for their choice of boundary. Not least because I don't want to be denounced for mine. That just permits purity spirals, and hunting for witches and those associated with witches.

I treat others as I would want to be treated myself. A good general rule.

@NecessaryScene
And I have no idea which side of it Carl Benjamin ends up on - I see no reason to accept your characterisation of him

Please follow these links. This was headline news about Carl Benjamin and I am posting this for the second time just for you

Mr Benjamin, who is standing for Ukip in the South West in the European elections, tweeted about Phillips in 2016 and said "I wouldn't even rape you."

I feel sick watching Carl Benjamin chuckling along to people joining in what the language he has given them about putting a bag on my head and raping me," she wrote on Twitter.

www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/ukip-rape-joke-man-carl-16155596

In February 2018.

“You are acting like a bunch of n—-s, just so you know. You act like white n——s.”

“You carry on, but don’t expect that I have to debate with one of you f—g-ts. Why would I bother? Like why would I bother? You act like an upper class twat’? Maybe you’re just acting like a n—-r, mate. Have you considered that? Do you think white people act like this? White people are meant to be polite and respectful to one another and you guys can’t even act like white people.”

In another video, Benjamin said Jewish people “needed to drop the identity politics” before, adding: “I’m sorry about the Holocaust, but I don’t give a shit.” In another video, Benjamin linked feminism with mass killings carried out by misogynistic men.

www.buzzfeed.com/markdistefano/benjamin-akkad-racial-statements

In a video in 2015, in which he calls a disabled person a "retard" and uses racist terms. In the footage obtained by Sky News, the self-styled "free speech extremist" records himself speaking over an anti-discrimination video.

When an woman explains it is not acceptable to call Asian people “ck”, Mr Benjamin replies: "You lose! It's actually just f* fine and I'll tell you why – because Asians are privileged."

e then tells the woman to “f off” and adds that it is “OK” for him to use the racist term “because racism is power plus prejudice".
Over the course of the clip, he also calls a woman with Downs Syndrome a "retard", a black man a n**, and posts anti-Semitic pictures over an image of a Jewish man.

www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/ukip-mep-carl-benjamin-racist-video-a4126986.html

In a 2014 video he said

“I can be quoted as saying you can f* young boys. It’s actually not as controversial as you think.
"Depends on the child, doesn’t it? The ancient Greeks were pederasts. It was considered to be normal. It was mentoring."
