Standing for women - Portland rally cancelled over violent threats

1000 replies

ArabellaScott · 26/10/2022 13:59

Not quite sure what's happened - seems there were credible threats to women's lives over these protests.

twitter.com/StandingforXX

Now it seems a few women went ahead and met up and were attacked. (Nobody seriously hurt as far as I can tell)

Hoping everyone is safe and well.

Almost total lack of worker protections in the US. There will be no US Maya Forstater. If a woman's employer spots her speaking at or even attending a SFW event, she can very easily lose her job with no recourse.

An entire school district needing to be shut down recently due to the number of bomb threats schools were receiving after one school supported a trans child. A bus load of heavily armed men was intercepted by police on their way to attack a Pride march. There have been physical attacks on LGBTQ community centres and events and providers of trans healthcare have been deluged with threats of violence.

One high profile Republican has called for trans people and trans allies to be executed as traitors. Several states have banned books in school libraries simply for mentioning trans people and same sex relationships. LGBTQ teachers are coming under repeated attacks and being accused of being groomers and child abusers. And the Republican Party is trying to push through laws which will make it illegal for a trans person to work in any job where they might come into contact with children.

The idea that people in the US are terrified of speaking out against trans or LGBTQ people is ridiculous.

THIS!!

May I point out that in Tacoma at least, KJK and the other women were in a public plaza about 4 blocks away from the school. A number of grown men one of whom was wearing a visible earpiece with a wire which gave the impression he was coordinating with someone in real time, were involved in aggressively threatening the women. They had accompanied younger high school students who had prepared signs and chants and who had walked down the street to confront the women, shout abuse at them, and eventaully attack them.

There are clearly adult men encourging teens, of both sexes, to abuse and attack women in public.

THIS!!

And antelope are YOU attempting to connect women speaking out with these incidences.

Are you saying that women speaking out should be held responsible for these incidences?

And are you therefore saying that women should shut the fuck up?

Is that your intention? Because that is how this comes across.

I did tell DadJoke to go and look at both of the addresses on google maps.

And to stop spreading misinformation.

The books the parents wanted banned was NOT because they "mentioned" trans of gay and lesbian people, it was because they described and illlustrated pornographic acts which were totally inappropriate for a school library.

The books were so inappropriate parents were BANNED from reading the contents out aloud at a public school board meeting.

Parents are against children being oversexualized and groomed in school.

Girlsontour · 01/11/2022 18:03

The USA is as big as the entirity of Western and Eastern Europe. The incidents you mention are rare. However Gender Ideology and clinics and hospitals giving children unsafe and dangerous "medical care" which permenantly damage their bodies are in virtually every state. People are angry at how this ideology is actively harming women and children. Those people are across the political spectrum, and it will remain that way, because mature adults care about children.

Pen America report that 1648 different titles have been banned from schools or school libraries, and of those 25% were for sexual content - mostly young adult fiction along the lines of the type of books Judy Blume writes or non-fiction books featuring sex education: pen.org/report/banned-usa-growing-movement-to-censor-books-in-schools/

And again, this means that you can dismiss violence against women in the way you have on this thread why?

antelopevalley · 01/11/2022 17:44

THIS!!

Bonkers. Why would these women , many of whom are lesbians or bisexual , want to speak against LGBT people.

They are speaking about women's rights and women's issues.

Helleofabore · 01/11/2022 19:23

I want to come back to this article that has been posted by both livvy & dadjoke as some kind of fucking gotcha about 'the children' being pepper sprayed.

One counter-protester sprayed the rally with Silly String. Hoch responded with pepper spray and hit a different nearby counter-protester, Lorenzo Cervantes, in the face with the painful liquid. “They used violent tactics,” Cervantes said later. “(Hoch) came prepared to hurt somebody. We weren’t hurting anybody.”

Please tell us how the fuck do these supposed 'children' (no age provided) learn that it is NEVER appropriate behaviour to exhibit violence towards women.

Honestly, who the fuck told this student that 'they weren't hurting anybody'?

Who?

Who fucking benefits from lowering the bar on what is considered 'violence towards women' in this fucking model era?

Have any of you who have been on this fucking thread dismissing the violence that has been shown towards these women, for simply SPEAKING into a mic, wondered what the effect this has?

That teenagers are being taught it is perfectly reasonable to spit, assault, intimidate women who you disagree with.

Tell us @DadJoke @MargaritaPie @SecretTransTwitterEngineer @antelopevalley and @livvyposts who benefits from allowing students to think that this is behaviour doesn't 'hurt' anyone and is appropriate behaviour, especially towards women?

That is it perfectly ok to spray something, throw something or spit, throw pies, break fingers at or of women and that women should take that violence and ignore it. That it is perfectly ok to intimidate any woman because you disagree with her.

What the fuck do you teach your children?

Helleofabore · 01/11/2022 19:23

modern not model

Helleofabore · 01/11/2022 19:26

Oh. And who ever said 'well it was done to x back in the 1970s'.... so fucking what?

Do you realise all the other things that were acceptable in the 1970s?

Honestly, you all, each and every one of you, sit piously in some kind of position of superior morality, yet you don't even get the fucking basics about violence towards women!

NO! it was NOT ok to throw a cream pie at a woman back in the 1970s. Probably not even a man.

But go on. Keep on using it as some kind of FUCKED up excuse.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 01/11/2022 19:37

Why did that group of teens think that it was acceptable to follow a party of women escorting an injured woman to safety?

Their own footage shows them shouting, swearing, and even shouting "you're a fucking lesbian" at the woman bringing up the rear. The woman we have footage of them spitting at.

It was grossly aggressive and intimidating behaviour.

Yes pots.

Why is it suddenly ok to follow women yelling and intimidation them because you disagree? Would these posts do this, or condone this at any other time?

Maybe a group of teenagers who don't like a women's t-shirt?

Follow her home and yell, spit and assault her. It is ok. She is a '[insert slur here]'. She doesn't count.

Or maybe it is just one of those students. Maybe the male who spat and JeannaHoch got her sign up in time to block it. And then the male came out and looked to be about to swing.

I notice nothing has been said about this incident. Or the male who then pepper sprayed Jeanna in retaliation.

All this infront of 'children'.

Nothing. Nothing is said, just more distractive tactics from posters determined to attempt to make out they are righteous.

So, maybe that one male student thinks it is really ok to continue to harass a woman when she is quickly leaving, because no adults called out this behaviour. In fact, the adults participated.

To follow these women who were clearly leaving, and some where protecting an injured woman.

Fuck that

@Discovereads the day you’re the voice of reason is the day Satan ice skates to work.

Well, since the 14th century, Satan is trapped on Lake Cocytus which he accidentally caused to turn to ice by flapping his wings too much, thus trapping himself and everyone else in an icy Hell. So, he does ice skate to work and the joke is on you.

Lol, but Discovereads, I support her. I advocate for her goals, reinforce her message, I agree with what she does, it's important and helps the cause i also campaign for. It's relevant to me.

And I still don't go seeking her out.

People like you seek her out, her friends out, her allies, her service providers or people in her vicinity or who even may be in her photos, poring over every detail, just in order to slag her off.

Not her content tho. Never that.

It's absolutely a personal obsession.

Obsessions can be positive or negative. The fact you support her, doesn’t mean you cannot also be obsessed with her.

I still don't go seeking her out. Yeah you do. You’re on magnitudes more threads than I am about her, and you post tons and tons of posts about her, pictures of her, things she says. No one asks you to do this. No one on MN sits there and says “stop the groundless adoration, or post some evidence KJK is that fantastic”. And when anyone pipes up with a but KJK isn’t the best ever and has done problematic things, you post constantly over and over shouting them down, demanding “evidence” that you’re not interested in actually reading it’s just a shut up tactic to discredit because even when evidence is posted, you go “so?” And “you’re just excusing ….strawman of the day” and “post more evidence that’s not good enough”…

People like you seek her out, her friends out, her allies, her service providers or people in her vicinity or who even may be in her photos, poring over every detail, just in order to slag her off..

No I really don’t. I stay informed and if I feel like it, when people like you, her super fan club that think she is gods gift to women, demand I post “proof” of my criticisms of her. Because I’m asked to, because I’m hoping you might have a teeny tiny crack of an open mind in that hero worship obsession you have going on towards KJK.

Not her content tho. Never that. I haven’t watched many of her YouTube videos because quite frankly a lot of it is distressingly hate filled rhetoric full of conspiracy theory nonsense. I watch the ones flagged up as problematic as due diligence. It’s an obsessed person that watches everything she posts, hangs on every word she says and buys her tat from her online shop. You probably have one of her Tshirts in your chest of drawers, have a monthly patreon direct debit to her, and religiously watch every video she creates.

So it’s laughable really that you cannot recognise what obsession really is.

They protested outside a school and pepper sprayed a bunch of kids. From a group whose leader pals around with white surpremacists, it's not a surprise, and it's pretty ridiculous to claim the moral high ground.

Some of those kids were girls…but I guess it’s ok to excuse violence to girls among counter protesters while making much of an adult woman consorting with white supremacists and pro-lifers that fell over and broke her hand as “violence to women”

Discovereads · 01/11/2022 23:21

There must be, quite literally billions of people you could be talking about then!

Instead of a tiny blonde woman, talking about something you're not interested in, in another country, being listened to by, according to you, a few dozen people.

Do you really, honestly, think people regard your posts as motivated by anything other than to shut her down?

Your comments also apply to you @Datun. It’s your fan club that started this thread. We don’t care about the “KJK fans only” policing of the thread you’re doing.

Discovereads · 01/11/2022 23:24

@Helleofabore
You are the minority - yet every single poll on AIBU that pulled in huge numbers was overwhelmingly agreeing with our points. Sometimes 98% but most of the time over 90%. But - we were the minority.

Its quite funny that you think a renowned echo chamber like MN represents the majority opinion of women anywhere.

BeyondThinkOfTheOptics · 01/11/2022 23:26

If I were literally the only person on earth who didn’t believe in changing sex, it would still be no more possible than it is now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can you explain how you know what projective is coming for you before it comes for you?

And whilst you are at it, what are the lottery numbers for next week, thanks.

Well you know that spit will be spit…and so pepper spraying a girl for seeming to be about to spit on you is a disproportionate reaction. It’s not self defence by any measure.

Which girls were pepper sprayed again? That there is evidence that they were pepper sprayed by one of the women speaking or supporting those speaking? Not subjected to some other protestors spray?

Just to be clear, who you are talking about?

Do I excuse violence against girls? No. Did you see the now numerous posts where I stated that the police should investigate all those pepper sprayed? And all acts of violence too.

Or were you taking about those who initiated violence against a woman who reacted? Do you think that the women who were subjected to violence should have just accepted that violence against them?

In all seriousness. Is that what you believe Discoverreads? Including the woman who days before was also subjected to violence?
