“hoisted by their own petard” never seemed more apt, if true

Proper weird capitalisation:

Proper weird wording too, especially "The Advancement Of Health Or Saving Of Lives" Confused

For people compiling lists of organisations who supported mermaids, add Ukie to the list (the trade body of the games industry). twitter.com/uk_ie/status/1295662114045075458?s=46&t=D2zbVa4afEG52tIztU-7vA

It's in plain sight too. All the bloody time.

Reminds me of this NHS group for 13 - 25 year olds organised by St Helen's and Knowsley Teaching Hospital.

FOI here.

Girlguiding UK list Mermaids as a support organisation.

If anyone has a child in Rainbows/Brownies/Guides/Rangers, please contact your District Commissioner and County Safeguarding Lead and ask them why GGUK is still associating with Mermaids.

Fantastic news.

But it's so sad. Some young people are clearly finding the pressure on their identity formation to be painful & sometime unbearable..

Think what Mermaids could have been:
a respectful helpful charity, brokering discussions between gender-questioning young people, their parents, and therapists.
Funding and sponsoring properly peer-reviewed research, investigating the phenomena of social contagion & ROGD,

Subsidising proper talking therapies where co-morbidities could be properly explored (eg autism, depression) and deeper root causes of body dysphoria (eg sexual abuse, bullying) also dealt with

Generally helping young people via the safe & scientifically-recommended "watchful waiting"

Instead, they are extremist activists, masquerading as a charity.

It never could have been that. Once Transgenderism got heavily politicized and blasted all over the media it could then only go two ways. Cancellation or far left activism that pushes pushes pushes the boundaries until it burns itself out and dies. That's what politics has done to the world sadly. This was the way it was always going to end.

@BirdinaHedge
Thank you for your post.
I have read as much of the thread as possible. I have a dc who has suffered greatly for 5 years. Whenever I questioned her 'support' I was pillored. I am hopeful now that people will see how utterly vicious and 'fucked up' this agenda has been. I wanted her to wait and see. Luckily I refused Mermaids and the Tavistock. She is now a different person. Had I gone along with the clinicians she would have been infertile and mutilated. Does she want that now? No. Bastards indeed. Thank you once again and to all those who have been so vocal in getting this out there.

FrancescaContini · 05/10/2022 05:57

@WendyWagon thank God you waited.

Forget about all these individual organisations. The freaking Scottish Government has Mermaids listed under additional resources in their official guidance to schools. Much of their list is frightening, but seeing as we’re focusing on Mermaids at the moment…

Let's take a moment to appreciate how right Lisa Muggeridge was.

I often think of Lisa - does anyone know how she is doing?

FrancescaContini · 05/10/2022 06:39

@rogdmum The Scottish Govt is well and truly captured. How will it backtrack from its association with organisations set up for CHILDREN that are rapidly becoming discredited 🤔?

rogdmum · 05/10/2022 06:44

Francesca Unbelievably it gets much worse up here. Have a look at the conversion therapy proposals issued just yesterday!

www.heraldscotland.com/politics/23019958.scottish-government-conversion-therapy-ban-report-published/

“CHILDREN forced to undergo conversion therapy by their parents should be taken into care, a group set up by the Scottish Government has said.”

With anything other than affirmation being considered conversion therapy.

Report is here:

www.gov.scot/publications/expert-advisory-group-ending-conversion-practices-report-recommendations/

It needs its own thread but makes for frightening reading

FrancescaContini · 05/10/2022 06:53

Thanks @rogdmum I don’t think I can stomach that right now. Until this madness has burned itself out in Scotland - and surely it will as more and more sunlight filters through thanks to posters like you - I will not be going there.

rogdmum · 05/10/2022 06:58

Have started a new thread should anyone be interested. 😡

LSE Gender dept gave Breslow an award for inclusive education in May... Shudder. I am starting to think the word "inclusive" is a red flag in itself now.

When I see the words inclusive and/or diversity I just think… well going white men mostly or women with a terrible (often blue or green) haircut. With the odd token black or Asian person.

Me too.

It would be so marvellous if awards for diversity and inclusion had a big focus on helping people with disabilities and chronic health conditions to achieve their potential and remove obstacles in their path. But no. We've seen with the ludicrous rainbow zebra crossings (which make crossing the road more unsafe for people with visual disabilities and assistance dogs) that their needs are as nothing to the virtue signalling that so many organisations and public bodies feel they need to do to show they're on the right side of history.

KittenKong · 05/10/2022 08:15

God I know.

But funnily enough, workers who need some accommodation (extra time off, health issues, family support … no matter how good a worker they are) get the bums rush. But some person who has (most likely some narcissistic personality) makes a huge fuss about getting some special treatment (that disrupts most of their coworkers) gets their face on the website homepage and a special pat on the back???

MrsJamin · 05/10/2022 07:30

LSE Gender dept gave Breslow an award for inclusive education in May... Shudder. I am starting to think the word "inclusive" is a red flag in itself now.

It is.

For a start, actual 'inclusion' means 'works for all groups' not 'bounces multiple groups of females with protected characteristics out in order to let male people have more freedom of self expression'. In actual inclusion, if a group is failed by it, if people are excluded by it and if it creates division and hostility between the groups it's not inclusion, it's a fail.

Also see Stonewall's work to teach that 'inclusion' means one characteristic instead of nine; the massed teaching about 'inclusion' by those with absolutely no qualification, experience or knowledge beyond being TQ+ and advising on policy affecting nine characteristics with fuck all knowledge of any kind regarding the other eight; and the encouraging of LAs and organisations (all of whom should have known better) that an 'equality impact assessment' only looks at how TQ+ people are affected in terms of those TQ+ people having additional characteristics and should not consider impact on people with other characteristics who are not TQ+

It's an absolute shitshow. Like many words, it's been grabbed by a political lobby as a useful one to manipulate others with, stripped of all meaning and used in an entirely self interested way devoid of any ability to give a fuck about anyone or anything save how they can usefully serve those interests.

Birdsweepsin · 05/10/2022 08:48

I am genuinely worried for the mental health of all the people who thought they were doing the right thing for trans kids.

They were groomed too.
