Just saw a tweet where she calls PP a 'poundshop marine le Pen'
WTF! why are women who are supposedly in this fight together actively trying to sabotage another woman's activism?
Can we not move away from this schoolyard shit?

It was David T C Davies.

What happened to him? He was so good at taking the lead and getting this into Parliament a few years back. But I've not seen him around the topic at all for a few years.

I guess he never actually campaigned on the topic himself, it was more just about supporting those he could see being excluded, so maybe he feels his work is done.

Langcleg

Don't be silly. I don't think Maria Mc is a fascist.

As I've said, some of the individuals on the SFW side are representatives of far right, racist and nationalist groups including the men livestreaming the event from a camera on a tripod at the front. Have a look on Hearts of Oak social media and tell me that their mission and content are in any way connected to progressive social change of any colour or huge.

They were being protected by the police, ergo the slogan 'police protect the facists' was correct. Protecting them in this instance was clearly the correct thing to do, as that was the only way to protect the people, mainly women, there for the SFW event.

A well-known (out of MN circles) racist and nationalist group being encouraged to put content of the SFW speakers on their channel without the speaker's knowledge or consent is a problem for many women, including women who spoke at this and other SFW events.

I did wonder what had brought it to his attention when most people weren't aware of this issue. I think having Helen Webberley in his constituency might have had something to do with it.

TheClogLady · 30/09/2022 09:09

Not being a progressive doesn’t mean you are on the far right! 😂

OldCrone · 30/09/2022 09:16

What do you mean by 'on the SFW side'? The people who went to KJK's open-to-all meeting? That would mean the TRA woman who shouts at babies is also on the SFW side as she was filmed there.

OldCrone · 30/09/2022 09:20

What do you mean by 'progressive social change' @christinarossetti39? How do you decide what is progressive and what is it all progressing towards? Is there a consensus and how was it arrived at?

i am curious about the circles that know all about this stuff

i don’t know anyone who knows about this…i must be moving in the right circles

Being encouraged? Who is encouraging them? I would imagine they now feel incentivised to attend more of these events for the publicity.

The real feminists™ have managed to center one or two silent men at an event for women. Some of the women may have felt the need to publicly distance themselves because they were lied to and told KJK invited these men but many more feel crushed that having mustered the courage to speak their words are now ignored as real feminists™ discuss the silent man/men.

If some of the speakers feel they should have been asked for consent for HoO to post videos of them then they need to take it up with HoO. Presumably they didn't expect the many women who attended the event and postage video footage on line to ask for consent?

It was a great days work for HoO, lots of free publicity and being the center and cause of a disagreement between feminists.

Well done real feminists™.

BitossiBlues · 30/09/2022 09:47

Progressive social change is the misuse of words. It's the Orwellian use of a word to mean the complete opposite. Both TRA and BLM fall into the "Progressive" movement. The former relies on the sort of gender stereotypes about men and women that should have been erased by 2000, had TRAs not taken over the LGB movement. BLM and their ilk is setting back race relations decades, is reviled by many people of colour (myself included) and turning on just about every person from an ethnic minority background in a prominent office who doesn't agree with them. Like fuck is any of that progress.

Surely any GC woman, from academic feminist to PP femalist, is a fascist to the "progressives". Their words have no meaning. Pathetically shouting "fascist" at anyone who doesn't have your world view makes you should like one of The Young Ones. But worse is supposedly intelligent feminists giving this sort of ridiculous name calling any legitimacy at all, by treating it seriously; and causing a Streisand effect Twitter storm that's completely overshadowed the good work that all women who courageously put themselves out as the public face of gender criticism have done. Fantastic own goal there, head girls.

Exactly.

@christinarossetti39 What exactly is the problem with HoO filming and livestreaming the event? They are raising up those women's voices while Real Feminists try to silence them. Why shouldn't they do that? What's the reason?

I've got way more problems with what the Real Feminists are doing than I have with HoO. At least HoO are listening to women's voices and sharing them. At least HoO "Let Women Speak" - unlike the Real Feminists who only want to talk about the two silent men.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 30/09/2022 10:16

Why are people assuming HoO were there for women? Is it because transactivists and their 'feminist' helpers have been so successful? As far as I know HoO hasn't put out a statement of support for feminists - quite the opposite as the organisation has been linked to a transactivist and the replies to their video included anti-woman abuse and T* slurs. But it's too late for reality, we have a lovely little self-flagellating myth and it can't be stopped. TRAs must be laughing their heads off.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 30/09/2022 10:17

very good point, it would be gutting

This. ^^

I think this is a week where many of us interested in female equality, voices, rights, access, to not leave females to suffer and be subordinated in the interests of male self actualisation, finally realised the word 'feminist' is not one we relate to any longer.

ImherewithBoudica · 30/09/2022 10:33

In fact has anyone, anywhere, seen any single thing a female stood up and said at that meeting about the experience of being female and the reasons that drove those females to do this extremely courageous thing in the fact of a hostile crown and actual physical danger, either discussed or highlighted or even basically remembered?

Sidelined. As usual. To males and to niche politics.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 30/09/2022 10:40

No I haven’t boudica

but to be fair a thread that should have been quite short about a woman calling a baby a little fascist turned into a multi page thread about KJK

so i think even if a thread had been started it wouldn’t have said on the subject long

TheClogLady · 30/09/2022 10:45

So, shall we do it? Start a thread with all the speeches on it?

And the post event videos (I’ve seen Maria M’s and Birdie Rose’s and DJ Lippy’s more general one (because she was at Lesbian Strength in Leeds that day).

This is a great idea.

I'd love to hear what the women speaking that day had a say.

beastlyslumber · 30/09/2022 11:13

I watched quite a few of them on livestream. I may even have watched some of HoO livestream as SfW's went down a couple of times (e.g. when Maya was speaking and someone threw a smokebomb). All the speeches should still be on youtube

ArabellaScott · 30/09/2022 11:13

There was a moving speech from an autistic woman. Many of the speeches were drowned out by protestors, unfortunately.

beastlyslumber · 30/09/2022 11:14

You could hear them on the videos. I don't know about the autistic woman's speech but all the ones I watched were completely audible.

witchyw · 30/09/2022 11:18

When I stood right at the front I could hear
KJK and one other speaker but everything and everyone else were drowned out- I wandered about a bit. I'm still not sure I've heard all the speeches catching up on YouTube. Either some were missing or (more likely) my ability to use YouTube is impaired
