This link seems not to exist any more. I've searched for Elaine on the site and nothing comes up. A search for Edinburgh brings up articles but none with that title, or apparently about Elaine.

The link works for me and it's the first result for oogling Debbie Hayton Elaine Miller and the 5th when googling Elaine Miller Edinburgh Fringe.

@TheLassWiADelicateAir Good taste is not what Gussie Grips is about Grin. I agree the title is a truly dire pun but at least it lets you know to not expect a dainty show. I saw her a few years ago and she's good for belly laughs, embarrassing situations, and a lot of useful information. If that's not your thing then yes go see something else, there's plenty to choose from and Fringe ticket sales in general are low this year.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 22/08/2022 09:54

Oh and thx for sharing the video of her old show. Still makes me smile!

I'm not interested in this type of show and certainly not one which uses "hole" to describe part of the female body.

Well don't watch it then.

I'm sick to death of TRA's coming on here trying to stop women talking.

Joss: Not everything’s about you. 🙄

Joss’s problem is that nothing about women’s health is about him.

IsItShining · 22/08/2022 08:35

Joss Prior does not see the importance of information about vulvas (autocorrect thinks Vulcans would be better!) and menopause.

Wonder why.

So this is a belief that the entire female human race (52% of humans in fact) should not talk about their anatomy, medical needs, share their experience of being biologically human...

because it makes a tiny percentage of male people sad that they do not have said female biology.

Isn't there a point at which you really have to start getting a grip? Because that's taking misogynistic self centredness to whole new extremes. Females talking about being female is 'hate'? Ffs. Get over yourself.

Artichokeleaves · 22/08/2022 11:22

I'd point out that all over these boards there are:

infertile people coping with whole boards talking about fertility and pregnancy
disabled people coping with able bodied people discussing their abilities and freedoms
those who have lost children coping with those who have them talking about them
those with hysterectomies coping with people talking about their reproductive systems

Is this resilience and capacity to live and let live an inbuilt female thing we should be noticing and celebrating, or just a competent adult thing?

Oh bore off. Everyone who doesn't agree with your world view isn't a TRA.

The show looks ghastly and the clip I saw wasn't funny. I said nothing whatsoever about trying to stop you talking. I posted a supportive article , have said that the attitude of the Gilded Balloon staff member is bang out of order and that Miller has been treated badly.

Screaming "TRA" at any comment you don't like is as tedious and illogical as screaming "transphobe".

I think it’s a bit of both tbh.

RhannionKPSS · 22/08/2022 11:28

The best way to deal Joss, Jen & Juno etc, etc is to ignore them. Don’t give them any attention at all.

IsItShining · 22/08/2022 12:21

Shouldn't think Joss etc even want female anatomy. Not really. Just a sort of vague 'Women, what would they know about the really important things about being female?' vibe.

Yes I agree.

DialSquare · 22/08/2022 12:42

Poor Joss. Always the usher, never the bride.

Yup.

It's basic human empathy. I have a feeling most TIPs are narcissists.

Can I buy a ticket for someone ? I can't attend ( too far away) but I've love to support it

Fluffyfluffflufffluff · 22/08/2022 13:21

Again with the "spewing hate"? They do love a good cliché.

@Carriemac tickets can be purchased online

I didn't understand Joss P's point (I seldom do). I read it as the person who spat at Elaine Miller was 'spewing hate' towards Elaine. Vanishingly unlikely that Joss would say such a thing, I agree, but that's how I read it.

No you've definitely read it wrong. Joss is accusing someone of transphobia. That's got to be Elaine, albeit with a "veneer" on it: it wouldn't make any sense the other way around, especially not give the headline in the post.

Granted, Joss's hateful, angry rants can be difficult to decipher!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/08/2022 14:43

I read it that Prior thinks people spitting at Elaine is "social justice"

nauticant · 22/08/2022 14:45

Deciphering is straightfoward once you've worked out which woman Prior is targeting.

DadJoke · 22/08/2022 16:17

If you want to know why people think she is transphobic, you can read her article here which does the whole “adult human female” schtick. She is what you would call gender critical, and everyone else, transphobic.

Just seen a lovely tweet from Joanna Cherry:

"Women from across Scotland came to see & support ⁦@GussieGrips⁩ tonight in her brilliant, witty & informative 5 star #edfringe show about female anatomy. #WomenWontWeesht "

t.co/I0x5IIYcKL t.co/G1csE8Wy7g

That's lovely! Women supporting women all the way.

By contrast, I was having a little scroll through Joanna's twitter and came across this from a regular in this parish. The thoughtful response of an intelligent professional. Hmm

That's a bold claim. Could you identify what in Elaine Miller's article is "transphobic"?
