The more I'm thinking about it the angrier I'm getting. She works in the bloody NHS as an Applied Psychologist and is threatening me online for saying sex over gender.

An Applied Psychologist who comes out with blanket statements such as 'transwomen aren't harmful', because being trans automatically makes them so. How is that allowed?!

I think that post shows why many "normal" (by which I mean not already engaged on either side of the debate) women just don't speak. You've got

• people being called hate groups


• folk speaking with absolute certainty about the validity of their views


• complex and intentionally obscuring language


• phrasing which people don't understand - cis/AFAB etc

Is it any wonder that many people don't engage?

Unfortunately, despite Forstater and Bailey, I have no confidence that the NHS would have your back if this were raised as a complaint to HR or as a concern for her patients/clients.

The clash of ideology and [X] rarely ends well if the latter is to be trumped by a sacred caste that can not be challenged in a way that is accepted as normal for all other groups.

It was her naivety and lack of critical thinking that got me and continued 'transphobia' responses to legitimate questions and scenarios. Worrying for a so called Applied Psychologist.

I'm not on EGG but have been told by other sources that the posters holding the line for sanity and reality did excellent work in the face of really determined unpleasantness from a couple of very vocal TRA's. Well done

@PSKeyboardwarrior I don't blame you, I honestly don't understand how anyone in the NHS can believe all this stuff.

Abusive power structures and asymmetries exist at every level of the NHS.

This is just an easy source of additional bullying, abuse, and the ability to do it while acting as a virtuous Witchfinder General.

Elaine’s cause is so so so important for anyone born with a vulva, however they identify. I’m furious that it is being derailed by a group of people who are so blinkered and vehement. It makes me want to cry with frustration.

One of the biggest complaints currently is that trans health care is so poor. We should be talking about the health needs of young women who go on puberty blockers and cross sex hormones, even before we get to any kind of surgery. These young women will need exactly the kind of care and support that Elaine is talking about. Vaginal atrophy and osteoporosis are both miserable, painful conditions and this needs to be addressed.
I just can't understand why a trained, experienced HCP raising these issues deserves to be vilified and silenced. It must be the case that none of the detractors have actually listened to her talk.

None of them have seen the show, the one who spat on Elanie hasn’t seen it, he probably only heard what he wanted to hear from others, possibly including one of the other “ comedians “ at the Fringe.

I went to see the show last night and a Gilded Balloon staff member was harassing the audience as we went in. I've put in a formal complaint and it is currently being looked into.

In what way? Telling you off for attending?

The complaint is still being handled.

Essentially he was going up to middle-aged women (particularly gender non conforming women), asking them if they were seeing the show, then rolling his eyes if they confirmed. So directly going for anyone he thought was attending based on their sex, age, and gender presentation in an attempt to publicly shame them.

Then he said the show was transphobic because anyone can buy a vagina, and then implied all a vagina needs to do is be capable of taking a dick.

That is awful. I hope your complaint is handled quickly and they don't wait until the Festival has ended.

I've got tickets for next Sunday 28th!! Travelling up from London, Elaine is worth it! And if any snivelling TRAs get in my way, they'll be getting a "Glesga Kiss"!

That's just crazy. I didn't see that staff member last night thankfully. I was worried a couple of times when people walked out of the show, but they both came back - a toilet break rather than a walk out, I assume! No venue should take your money and then have their own staff telling you off for the show you are seeing

That's appalling behaviour from the member of staff and Gilded Balloon management should support the performers who have paid for performance space.

I won't be going to see this show. I don't like stand up in general and this is particularly not my thing. The title is dreadful.
