I did not know her but now, thanks to the idiots, I do. I'm now watching Gusset Grippers Alloa Festival and she's brilliant, so smart.

As a result of watching Gusset Grippers I've messaged my Mum with all the facts from her speech and will pick it up now as a topic of conversation with friends and share the clip.

Is anyone following the latest? We now have-

Men would never pretend to be trans to harm women as that is 'ridiculous'.

Can they really not see how short sighted that is.

Name change for this, I am the person who started the post on FB and I'm so upset at how it's been derailed. I was trying to do something for Elaine so she could see the positivity out there for her but 2-3 posters have just repeated the accusations of transphobia over and over.

@Letsgetlostt Thank you, I'm delighted you'll get to see it, and I really hope loads of others do too so that they can not only see Elaine's fabulous show but also see what those three women on that post were arguing against us being able to say out loud! I'm so angry!

I can't reply publicly as my employer is stonewalled to the max and I've spotted some colleagues, but I honestly thing the volume of positive responses outweighs the negative. Its only a handful of people.

The other thread about the FWS protest is worse in that the transphobe shouters got in earlier, but nobody is engaging with them. They're shouting in to the void - I think people recognise when it's not worth arguing

Tell her to stop being such a sexist bigot. Why is she uncomfortable around men?! The vast majority are decent and honourable. She should be glad to share any kind of space with them. In fact, I'd highly recommend she uses men's facilities and she'll soon realise she was just being prejudiced and small minded towards one half of the human race.

You honestly might as well try to argue with someone who insists that you will go to hell unless you're 'saved'. It's the same zealotry, rational thinking doesn't play a part.

@FrustratedEgg well done for the FB thread. I am also a member of that group and it really is only 2 or 3 that are making the accusations. Otherwise it is heartening to see the support for Elaine including from site owner, KR.

@Amelanchier Has KR shown her support? She said she would go and see the show but that was before the transphobic tag team really got going. I thought the thread would be pulled. One appears to be a Clinical

You could be right about timing of KR's comment.

I've just been, very, very funny and also very important. Seemed really well received by the audience too.

KK has seen the show, she was there last week. That is one of the reasons the toilets went back to women only & the non gender are now marked urinals & cubicles ie the mens.

@FrustratedEgg thank you for posting in that group - am also a member. Positive to see the support for Elaine and her show. Only a small number of word salad warriors on there but at least they help shine more light on this subject. Not joining in the conversation on FB as I get too pissed off by those twisting words and meanings and am like to say something unhelpful to the situation.

I’m not able to go to the show (finances too tight for any fringe shows this year) but I’ve shared Elaine’s speech from Alloa with a number of people. As she said, these issues really are a matter of life and death for women (the old fashioned cunty kind). I am so full of admiration for Elaine and I hope she is encouraged by how much support there is for her despite the hate from the think-they’re-inclusive-but-really-aren’t crowd.

The second thread has gone a bit nuts - someone openly saying they're going to complain to someone's employer about them having GC views so they can get retrained. Wtf

The "call for action" post. It seems to have been invaded overnight calling FWS terf central, hate group etc. Disabling comments seemed sensible IMO as it was going downhill fast and that sort of threatening nonsense is flipping ridiculous.

I'm glad you are ok/not too concerned. This sort of shit is why many women (including me) can't speak publicly because not all empoyers will just laugh. They might be on a sticky wicket trying to sack or discipline because of it, but future careers prospects are a different matter sadly.

I'm not too concerned, my department has bigger things to deal with at the moment, and I'm also not an officer.
