Hoping to get Elaine to come & perform near us. Hire a church hall. She’s lovely & approachable & I want to see her show.

Ooh, is that a possible thing?

She’s very approachable & is thinking of getting a van so she can pootle around.

Lots of church halls & community centres hire out for spoken word events.

Usually no license but can allow corkage if people bring their own.

I got a cinnamon plait with nutty things on top from Lidl they do awesomeness bakery.

whers that joke dad telling us about the transphobic stuff gussy has been saying. 😉😉

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/08/2022 22:25

Whereabouts is she based?

TheClogLady · 24/08/2022 22:34

Elaine was name checked in the most recent Spiked Podcast - Leo Kearst talks about the cancellation of Jerry Sadowitz and mentions Elaine at about 9mins 30.

Well done! 💪💚🤍💜

Ooooh I would also love to see Elaine!

Sadly I couldn't make it to Edinburgh but her show and her sound fab. Would love to support if possible.

WanOvaryKenobi · 25/08/2022 02:12

Thank you.

I noticed that the artistic director I dealt with directly was not mentioned, but her mummy who founded the company was.

Obviously wee Katy here has completely fucked up. So much so that mum has had to take the stand.

Incompetence and nepotism go hand in hand.

If you want to know why people think she is transphobic, you can read her article here which does the whole “adult human female” schtick. She is what you would call gender critical, and everyone else, transphobic.

thecritic.co.uk/women-wont-wheesht/

Having reread this, I have to thank dadjoke.

This is something everyone should read. But not for the purpose suggested by dadjoke, who seems to be infuriated that a wonderfully articulate women would dare disagree with them it seems.

Elaine, gussiegrips, you are awesome! Thank you.

Times article about the abuse of the poster on this thread. Sorry, no time to look back and find username.

No, the problem is the headline implies people had an issue with a set about vulvas and vaginas, when, in fact, they had an issue with her transphobic views. It’s really not that complicated.

A paraphrased line from Elaine's show - transmen need extra care, especially during pregnancy, because the reduced estrogen causes vagina atrophy.

Soooooooo transphobic!

The reality is you're just pissed that she talks about women in relation to vulvas and vaginas, and doesn't centre the almighty penis-havers.

Jen Ives and his supporters have a hell of a cheek claiming that people who failed to laugh at his routine were GC plants intent on intimidation.

I've seen Elaine's show 3 times (with different groups of friends) and at at least two of them there has been obvious TRA plants - opening night a nice looking male with long hair in a pretty woman's blouse and lipstick who sat on his own two seats along (front row), tried not to laugh and bolted like a whippet (presumably to report back) the second it was over.

And on the third time a lassie with short platinum blond hair who sat with a look on her face suggesting she'd put her finger through the toilet paper.

Now you could say they both just found Elaine unfunny.

But as both were alone and both were about the only ones not laughing it's fishier than a fishmongers in the East Neuk of Fife.

I don't know why you think being on their own is suspicious. I go to many shows on my own.

I was also the only person sitting in stony silence at a play which has been getting rave reviews but which I thought was tedious, obvious and very unfunny.

CousinKrispy · 25/08/2022 07:17

Yeah, I go to events on my own!

ScreamingMeMe · 25/08/2022 07:23

"In a letter to the venue the playwright said she had asked the employee what issue he had with the show’s content, he told her, it was “rubbish that women only had vaginas”, that he could “buy one that works”."

@TheLassWiADelicateAir it was more than just being on his own.

IcakethereforeIam · 25/08/2022 08:04

@WanOvaryKenobi ooh, published in the Times!

Well done, and thanks for the links. 'Buy one that works'!, unless he meant prostitution or surrogacy, I very much don't think so. What a creep.

Are they allowing comments?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/08/2022 08:14

Great Times article, @WanOvaryKenobi!

334bu · 25/08/2022 08:15

Thanks Dadjoke for that article by Elaine Miller, it was a well written piece. However, where was the transphobia? Could you elaborate ?

WanOvaryKenobi · 25/08/2022 08:50

Thank you for all of your support 💗

@TheLassWiADelicateAir it was more than just being on his own.

So what? From your post all he did was sit there tried not to laugh and bolted like a whippet (presumably to report back) the second it was over.

So what? From the clips posted I would have no difficulty not laughing at Miller either. It's been said repeatedly in relation to Ives that not laughing isn't a crime.

He came to see it- there's plenty of criticism on here about making a judgement about the show without seeing the show. He did nothing other than be there. He didn't inconvenience you or Miller. He didn't interrupt or heckle.

As for "Bolting like a whippet" - sorry but get a grip. What was he supposed to do? Stick around and fawn over Miller?

Edinburgh Fringe 'hate crime' row as show from trans comic accused of 'bombing'

After audience members failed to laugh during a show called Peak Trans, supporters claimed it had become the victim of a 'hate crime'

Did you hear the one about the transphobic Fringe audience?

The comedienne said she was a lesbian with a pen!s.

Half the audience laughed and half didn’t laugh, and all of them were arrested for it.
