A quick google shows this:

Edinburgh Fringe comic spat on and shunned by colleagues as a 'transphobe' for show about women

No one has a problem with shows about vulvas and vaginas - the headline is wrong.

The issue is that she is gender critical / transphobic.

I notice you’ve kept quiet about Jen Ives, also at Edinburgh who received transphobic abuse, and bunch of transphobes booked out the front row and sat in silence with their arms crossed.

So basically the problem is that she is an infidel and thou shalt not suffer sinners.

Which is beyond tedious and I cannot be bothered to engage with any more than the drunken twit who used to grab people in the university bar thirty years ago to tearfully demand "Are you saved?"

Your religion is your problem mate. Demanding that others genuflect at your personal altars is a bit daft really.

DadJoke · 24/08/2022 11:22

No, the problem is the headline implies people had an issue with a set about vulvas and vaginas, when, in fact, they had an issue with her transphobic views. It’s really not that complicated.

TheKeatingFive · 24/08/2022 11:25

when, in fact, they had an issue with her transphobic views.

There's nothing transphobic about her views and anyone who thinks there is, simply can't cope with scientific reality. Not her problem, our problem or anyone else's but their own.

littlbrowndog · 24/08/2022 11:30

How’s she transphobic?

PSKeyboardwarrior · 24/08/2022 11:31

@DadJoke what views is it you found transphobic?

I swear one of these days this question will finally be answered. I am determined!

You can’t reserve seats at the Fringe.

When people on Twitter pointed this out, and added that the show was filmed & included shots of the front row, the person posting about it said that it wasn’t the front tow but definitely another row. So... they weren’t there.

An Ives fan who’d actually attrnded then commented that they’d been laughing but not many other people were - which they seemed to think was definitely evidence of a transphobic plot.

We can conclude either that TERFs very generously decided to financially support a trans performer at the cost of a ticket & an awful full evening ... or that the person starting the story (who admits they weren’t there & got a key point wrong) has another agenda.

I note they also tweeted a request to vote for Ives for a comedy award which apparently you can vote for even if you didn’t see the show.

Sazzasez · 24/08/2022 11:34

dull evening.

WanOvaryKenobi · 24/08/2022 11:45

Let's see what the general public says, shall we?

yougov.co.uk/topics/lifestyle/articles-reports/2022/07/20/where-does-british-public-stand-transgender-rights

Well, would you look at that. Most people believe in reality. That includes sex based rights.

And yet.... you have not yet provided any evidence of her 'transphobic' views....

Nor acknowledged that you have no evidence that anyone in that front row had ulterior motives for attending Ives' show which seems to be not doing very well looking at those reviews.

You can keep on repeating that she is 'transphobic' but unless you provide evidence, we will continue to point out your credibility is very low.

littlbrowndog · 24/08/2022 09:39

Watching that clip of Ives. So not funny

and you can’t book seats at the fringe. The ushers tell you which place to sit mostly

They don't really have ushers except at the bigger venues and the show has sold out. You can't book a seat but it wouldn't be difficult to get front row if you wanted at this sort of show.

Helleofabore · 24/08/2022 11:58

or that the person starting the story (who admits they weren’t there & got a key point wrong) has another agenda.

Yes. I suspected this as soon as I read there was absolutely nothing else on twitter about this 'transphobic abuse' Ives was alleged to be receiving. And the final tweet rallying up support for Ives' show.

But hey, any old stick will do for some posters won't it?

Please could you outline her "trabsphonic views"? Screenshots and/or links would be helpful too. TIA!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/08/2022 12:05

Apparently the Friend of Jen Ives tweeter misunderstood about the row, it wasn't the front if anything happened at all

PeriodBro you are very naughty Grin

PeriodBro · 24/08/2022 12:16

So - where are we? A whole row of Jen Ives' audience failed to laugh?

As I said, has anyone reported this hate crime?

Bindayagain · 24/08/2022 12:27

There were ushers at both shows I have been to see - at Summerhall and also the one discussed on this thread. I didn't get to pick a seat.

viques · 24/08/2022 12:35

WanOvaryKenobi · 22/08/2022 19:46

Ok so I have heard back from my complaint.

I did not even get an apology.

They are not taking any action against the member of staff despite multiple reports of abuse and clear breaches of their code of conduct. They have apparently moved him to a different venue.

I am furious.

Isn’t that what the RC church used to do / does with troublesome priests who are caught fiddling with their parishioners. It’s a dangerous and dishonest way to deal with behaviour that you know is wrong. It gives the behaviour legitimacy, it gives the person involved the sense that they are the one being victimised. By simply moving the worker to another venue they are colluding in the behaviour.

TheLassWiADelicateAir · 24/08/2022 12:40

Ever try to sit through a funny comedians show and force yourself not to laugh?

It's not easy to purposefully not laugh at a proper funny person

From Twitter. That's very true.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/08/2022 12:50

Yes I can imagine how it would be easier not to laugh at Jen Ives. Perhaps it is true after all.

viques · 24/08/2022 13:05

Really? Just the one row? Clearly there are a lot more be kind people around than I would have expected having watched that sad clip. If I was paying to see an hour of that lacklustre effort I probably wouldn’t have walked out ( unless I was sitting at the end of a row) but I wouldn’t have laughed either.

How’s she transphobic?

Well, she's been on Graham Linehan's show and thats always a good sign.

Sazzasez · 24/08/2022 13:11

Anyone know how many seats in a row?

It’s £12 a ticket so it’s very generous of the Terven to support a stunning & brave comedien like this.
