'Protestors are now outside the Mechanics Institute where the Woman’s Place UK group are holding a conference on ‘single-sex provision in policy and law’.'

This is Andy who felt he had to travel to shout at women. Odd habit that is

@littlbrowndog

This is Peter. Who travelled to Manchester. To abuse women. But that’s ok cos he called them terfs.

Just another way to,abuse women with not actually saying word women

A prime example of someone who gets high on their own supply. Theirs is the odour of sanctity and the intoxication of inhaling the gases that they are putting out.
Toseland · 24/03/2022 23:25

This make me so angry - every time a politician disrespects women by pretending they don’t know what a woman is, it gives these protesters permission to act like this towards women. Politicians are enabling violence against women.

littlbrowndog · 24/03/2022 23:25

Ok his name might be Peter 😣🤦‍♀️

Worrysaboutalot · 24/03/2022 23:27

I was at the meeting tonight and it was brilliant. Uplifting and tearful at times.

We were laughing about the protesters, who's noise did not stop the excellent speakers from keeping the focus where it should be, on women!

The police should have disbursed the protesters from the start, they were not holding a peaceful protest.

But the men failed and women spoke the truth in that room!

littlbrowndog · 24/03/2022 23:32

Awesome work. You all fucking doing the work 🍷

BingBongSong · 25/03/2022 00:12

I'm glad you're safe. Videos of men screaming against women's rights, they're emboldened by our useless politicians Angry.

NitroNine · 25/03/2022 00:13

Peter is an oral historian, working with the NHS.

I am slightly worried my views about him undertaking this role would be deleted, so I shall leave it here.

Am very glad attendees were able to leave safely; but how deeply disappointing that protests like this (ie aggressive, calculated to intimidate & utterly unpeaceful) are STILL being allowed to go ahead (& get out of hand) in this way. Police Services need to remember the basic underlying principle of “without fear or favour” & then start applying it to their work at all times.

Labour losing women again, I see. This is a female Labour councillor and trade unionist saying this meeting should never have happened and she will be investigating. FFS.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/03/2022 07:29

What did happen with Manchester Resisters and Make More Noise?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/03/2022 07:53

Brace yourself, Eresh, it looks like they were also allowed to book a public meeting room so that women could talk about issues relevant to women! The horror.

Beefcurtains79 · 25/03/2022 07:57

I had a bit of a cry this morning. They hate us so much, and politicians are telling them to go ahead, shout us down and if that doesn’t work attack us.
What is happening? It’s terrifying.

ChopinBoard · 25/03/2022 08:13

Both sides though, amiright?*

Every so often I remember how fucking insane it is that women can't meet to discuss our rights - in 2022(!) - without being intimidated, shouted down, PROTESTED AGAINST and I want to weep. Every single anti-woman protester was born of a woman. How can they hate us so much?

*no, obviously not

SierraSapphire · 25/03/2022 08:17

There were a few people on Twitter saying the protesters weren't northerners due to how they shouted bastards.

Lots of well-off southern students at University of Manchester.

I’d love to go to a meeting, but with a medical condition I feel too scared.

And this is the angle that the Manchester evening news have decided to go with.
I’ll never read that paper again.

ResisterRex · 25/03/2022 08:27

I just caught up with this. I'm stunned.

  • Shouting down disabled women
  • Shouting down refugee women
  • Drowning out the speeches on FGM and forced abortions
  • Chanting "all cops are bastards"

What the fuck?!

That GSpellchecker account states all the speeches inside were recorded and will be uploaded. It should be very interesting to listen to those when they're available.

Someone could easily do a very good documentary about this event - and others like it. Oh for the days of Roger Cook!

Waitwhat23 · 25/03/2022 08:30

That whole ridiculous, biased article has
just one, small paragraph quoting Women's Place UK.

Nothing like balanced reporting, right?

Worrysaboutalot · 25/03/2022 08:31

@SierraSapphire

Don't let fear of the protesters stop you from attending. That is why they do it!

  1. The protesters meet elsewhere first as the venue location is released very last minute (for this very reason) So you can get straight into the meeting with no problems.
  1. The women organise and help each other both before and after the meeting. If you email and explain your needs, someone will help you.

For instance my DH was meant to.be picking me up at the venue but the police wanted us to all to leave the area, so I had to redirected my DH to the after meeting pub and another volunteer made sure I got to the car ok!

I went in my wheelchair. I volunteered to redirect women from the nearest road to the building and many brave women came on their own to this meeting!

Having been to this meeting, I will definitely go to the next one. Such a wonderful atmosphere.

One of the audience in the room made this very point. In a few days when the YouTube videos are released, anyone can watch the talks themselves and see the compassion and hope to improve things for women and girls rights.

I guess the correct term for those making noise outside is anti women protesters, as that is what they ARE actually protestering, whatever they THINK they think they are doing.

334bu · 25/03/2022 08:46

Has now protected Tweets. Obviously her willingness to shut women up earned her some criticism.
Well done to all those brave women within the hall.

WeeBisom · 25/03/2022 08:51

I know I shouldn't be surprised, but it's rage inducing that women gathering to discuss their legally enshrined rights is equated with hate speech.

DomesticatedZombie · 25/03/2022 08:59

@yourhairiswinterfire

Look at this fine chap. Abusing women is 'legendary'.

twitter.com/pdkmitchell/status/1507091047301758986

Wonder which woman he and the mob thought was the biggest 'wanker'?

The woman talking about being left disabled due to domestic abuse?
The woman who is a childhood sexual abuse survivor?
The woman who is an asylum seeker, talking about FGM, forced abortion, and her work with refugee women?

Hurling abuse at these women is fucking hilarious, but it's those women that are the ''hate movement''?

They're showing everyone exactly what they are, and exactly what their 'movement' is about, and it sure as shit isn't ''trans rights''.

There's Peter on the right side of history, I see. What a lovely chap.

I'm sorry, but this is breaking me.

This isn't right.

Women can meet to discuss the law and their rights in 2022.

We can do that without fear of being attacked.

We can meet to talk.

We can.

We should not have to book a meeting in secret and be fearful of talking to each other. We should not need police protection to discuss our rights. We should not need security for feminism.

I am still struggling to understand how people can be so awful. It's wrong. It's so wrong.

Jesus Christ:

One protester, who asked not to be named, said: “There are people who are campaigning against the legal protections for trans people which will make it so that trans people can’t be legally hate crimed against, which is f*** up."

WPUK "will make it so that trans people can't be legally hate crimed against"

We're dealing with real brains of Britain right here aren't we? They haven't got a clue about what all this performative protesting is for.

Worrysaboutalot · 25/03/2022 09:05

Certainly I will be making an appointment to see my local MP (not Manchester) and asking why the police let this hate filled protest continue when it is completely the opposite of a peaceful protest.

Why not print a leaflet with their counter argument to why women should not have rights and not be allow to talk together!

Then peacefully hand out the leaflets to the women leaving the meeting. It would give us something to laugh think about.

But ironically their mindless screaming with no logic, beautifully illustrates why women and girls need single sex spaces for safety and dignity.
