Some bearded American pillocks are objecting to the idea of Mumsnetters talking about feminism. Hadley Freeman and other feminists are doing an excellent job of responding.

@LunaMoon24

I saw the Twitter thread this morning & immediately joined Mumsnet, downloaded the app & have spent most of the day lurking when I should be working!!

An ex-friend (beardy woke bloke - what a shock!) unfollowed me on Twitter because I followed someone he deemed a TERF. He would periodically put out threats that he would unfollow anyone who followed someone he considered unacceptable. He really didn't understand how controlling & weird that behaviour is either.
Good riddance!

A familiar story. I wonder how many women beardy woke blokes have turned to the dark side.

Go and say hi here too, if you like!

Should we get T Shirts emblazoned with Radicalised by Mumsnet?

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 24/03/2022 15:58

I agree Dendrite. Why are so many young women describing lia Thomas as ‘awesome’ for what LT is doing with no thought at all, not even a smudge for the actual women who have trained and worked being beaten by a biological man

GooGoooGaaGaa · 24/03/2022 15:58

Oh those concerned "bearded men" wondering things they don't understand out loud Grin Grin - this amused me so much.

PickAChew · 24/03/2022 16:02

Amused at the ad in this thread aimed at beardy woke bros (Gillette)

People can say what they like about the antiquated look of this forum, about the lack of Upvotes, Downvotes, Likes, etc, but the user interface quickly forces conversation and therefore arguments to be put forward, otherwise posters flounder as they’re unable to assert their positions effectively.

I have a theory that the restrictiveness of Twitter, FB, Instagram hugely contributes to the demise of debates. When you've only got 180 characters or you don't want a post to take up half a page, it very quickly descends into the exchanging of soundbites rather than nuanced discussion.

An ex-friend (beardy woke bloke - what a shock!) unfollowed me on Twitter because I followed someone he deemed a TERF.

I got a slating for reading a book by someone deemed a TERF. However, I'm still not sure if it was the author's beliefs or the fact that a woman was educating herself by reading (and therefore not taking his advice) that offended him the most.

GingerPCatt · 24/03/2022 16:12

It saddens and angers me that no one thinks about women and girls. We're just background noise and support humans.

I remember when I was about 8 or 9 and had just heard about abortion, telling my mom 'that's horrible - they're killing babies'. She looked at me and then ask me 'what about the mothers - their life and their rights?' I quickly shut up and understood; I hadn't even considered the woman in the equation.

I think this is true for a lot of people. They want to be kind, but they are so focused on the transperson that they forget to ask 'what about the women - their lives, their rights?

SunniDelite · 24/03/2022 16:13

I'm happy to have found Mumsnet and be "absorbing terf propaganda" according to wokey adult daughter :) She seems not to appreciate I'm doing this for her :)

SparklingConsequences · 24/03/2022 16:17

@WeeBisom

It's absolutely hilarious to hear people say that Mumsnet is a far right recruitment zone, and '4 chan for middle class white women'. Yep, someone had better call Prevent, there's an awful lot of women being radicalised.
When you see profile after profile of men and women who are only able to speak about their trans obsession, some for literal years, when a GC man gets a GC TTC as a tattoo, when you're celebrating the removal of trans adult's healthcare, when a GC man calls trans ppl 'evil' because we're so upset at losing two more of our community to suicide, when another GC man becomes so obsessed he loses his family, friends and career, when GCs post about all the people who don't want to be around them anymore ↓ - with stories after stories, when you sit with the Heritage foundation or you're reposted by actual fascists etc etc

..yes, 'radicalised' is about right. Here, Ovarit, Spinster, Kiwi Farms..it doesn't matter where, it's all just deeply unhealthy and when I see ex-GCs I will always suggest that they should get away from this toxic, vile 'debate' that has hurt so many.

Oh, we have a 'vile' and a 'toxic' on the bingo!

Take it away, Britney!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/03/2022 16:23

Did these things happen on MN? There's a clear reporting system, if you're not happy with an individual moderating decision you can email them.

PickAChew · 24/03/2022 16:23

@ScreamingMeMe 🤣

Rinatinabina · 24/03/2022 16:23

When women are locked in with rapists, when women have to describe their own rape in front of men, when women have to call their rapists “women” when womens safety and dignity is less important than a feeling in a mans head when women have to compete against men when men must have EVERYTHING they want and women must shout “oh so brave so beautiful” while a man sized high heel is standing on her back I see how vile and toxic the world is for women.

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 24/03/2022 16:23

Men are not, never have been or ever will be women

Single sex spaces are not for men no matter how they present

And as many PP have pointed out, if TRA hadn’t been given an inch (eg pronouns) and taken a bloody mile in return (eg biological men in womens sport) we wouldn’t be where we are today

ScreamingMeMe · 24/03/2022 16:24

Come on people, stop forcing men to get tattoos!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/03/2022 16:24

Funny how Twitter which has extremely poor moderation isn't being singled out.

SidewaysOtter · 24/03/2022 16:28

Ooh, a live one!

I was slightly baffled about the repeated reference to "GC men" but then I remembered that no-one cares what women think. Only the be-penised can do actual cogitating.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/03/2022 16:30

I haven't lost any family and friends, thankfully they're not that silly and blinkered to drop me for a difference of opinion on exactly one political issue and we managed to get to a position where we agree to disagree, like adults.

I realise it's harder for women like Ceri as she is immersed in a community that must pay lip service to trans ideology. I'm lucky in that I don't have to.

Indeed, all about the men, all "GCs" are men, as surveys say, and they have created an army of female appearing bots. That is, in fact, what the whole of Mumsnet is. It's the biggest AI community experiment ever. Something something far right Russia.

The first rule of misogyny:

Women are responsible for what men do.

@Floisme

Whatever I may think of the general level of TWAW discourse, I have to concede that the strategy of lobbying MNHQ for a separate 'sex and gender' discussion board, then patrolling Mumsnet to ensure that all threads on the topic are moved to this board and then complaining about the number of threads about the topic on here was actually quite clever.
It was genius. Of course we only talk about the sex vs gender debate on the sex and gender board, but there are multiple feminism boards!!!!

Pisses me off.
