@Twitterwhooooo

A few weeks after the LGB Alliance Conference, Women's Place UK held a meeting at the QE2 conference centre.

That meeting was characterised by two men outside hurling racist and misogynistic abuse not only at attendees of the WPUK event, but at the black security guards and attendees of the Black People into Business event being held in the same venue.

Maybe those men should be held up as the public image of the MRA/TRA movement?

Ah yes, I had forgotten about that one too - there are literally just too many examples!

Wow I hadn't watched the video through. Really thought the guy must have been shouting really foul stuff at Ives for all the hookah. I'm slightly disappointed.

I'm sure this will be deleted but did anyone else notice the way Ives was standing with toes turned in?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2022 20:19

Or how about the male TRAs outside the Filia women's conference in Portsmouth? With signs encouraging the women going in, many of them survivors of sexual violence, as that was one of the focuses of the conference, to "Suck My Dick You Transphobic Cunts"

I know, right? Compared to what women are putting up with constantly - physical violence, death threats, threats of sexual violence, losing their jobs.
Clymene · 23/03/2022 20:21

And the Jam Jar where men and women were screaming abuse. And at Grenfell where the panda lot set off flares.

Not to mention the death threats and the doxxing. Calling someone an AGP and having st go at them for using Women's toilets is pretty tame.

CatherinaJTV · 23/03/2022 20:23

@justaftb

The man addressing Jen in both videos that Jen has posted online is stating, albeit heatedly, the truth. He calls Jen an adult human male, he accuses him of being there to provoke, he accuses him of using female spaces.

Let us not forget the women who have been PHYSICALLY ATTACKED by males who identify as trans at various events. PHYSICALLY ATTACKED.

The video documents a transphobic attack on a woman who just stands there and indends to use the loo (at one point, you can see that she is squirming). I cannot stress enough just how bad this looks and there is no excuse for such behaviour.
HermioneWeasley · 23/03/2022 20:24

I was at the conference. Ives was spoiling for a fight all day, going up to people, getting in their space. I’m disappointed that someone gave Ives this ammunition. When Ives used the womens toilets I think the organisers should have had Ives removed - there was never going to be a “win”.

none of this excuses that man's behaviour. If has a problem containing his rage in public he should not be in public.

To put it in context, things are not going well for the Rainbow Brigade or Pronoun People.

Maya's trial, Women's Aid statement, JK Rowling, the Nolan Report, Allison Bailey up against Stonewall next month (with Ben Cooper as barrister!), organisations dropping out of the Stonewall diversity scheme like flies, packed WPUK meetings outside London, huge Filia conference, GC books being best-sellers, the Cass Report.....

I think they've found a little crevice to hold on to as the wall comes crumbling down tbh.

I am looking at the video of a man screaming at a woman who just stands there.

There's a post from another LGB Alliance conference attendee up on Ovarit. Hope she won't mind me posting an excerpt here:

So- back in the toilets at the LGBa conference, I pulled myself together and thought 'Don't worry, you're in a safe place, you're among women who will respect your experiences concerning homophobia and misogyny'

For the first time in my fcking life I felt secure and able to speak out freely.

And now I know that there was a male, wearing a 'wire', boasting about visiting those toilets, specifically looking for things to record and publish online.

It's disgusting. This boundary-breaking rape-culture behaviour couldn't be a bigger sign of male socialisation. But nobody sees it. Observers are so okay with it that they don't even stop to think about what effect that person being in there in the first place could have on women especially women experiencing some kind of vulnerability- women with stories of abuse, newly-come out lesbian women, differently-abled women, or absolutely any woman at all. Because all women have the right to say NO!

Forgot, Lia Thomas peaking the world, followed closely by the Welsh Cyclist whose name escapes me, Posie Parker doing her thing, Stella O'Malley's podcast and book out soon, CQC report into GIDS, GRA reforms being kicked into the long grass, EHRC's statement, Laurie Penny sinking like a stone.

Sure there's more.

OvaHere · 23/03/2022 20:31

Two males. Neither covering themselves in glory. Nothing to do with women.

Exactly, what does this have to do with women or feminism in terms of this board? This wasn't a specifically feminist event and no women were involved.

Well. I am telling you that's not how most people (especially women) will read this. This looks really bad.

Then I'm sure you and your friends will be very happy. Good for you. It's got nothing to do with any of us. We are more likely to get screeched at by TRAs and I expect most of us have.

CatherinaJTV · 23/03/2022 20:35

I have said my bit. This looks bad. You defend that? You look bad. That's it.
