It appears she said at the BAFTAs 'I am here for all of the witches... bar one'

Disappointing but not unexpected.

If you are going to claim that people aren't having their intelligence questioned, it might help your point to not then go on to accuse people of being stupid.

LaTisaniere · 17/03/2022 13:06

That seems okay. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't feel welcome on 99.99% of all discussion boards on the Internet (they're mostly male-dominated, for starters.) I'm not sure why this should be the one place on the Internet that everyone feels welcome.

You do realise that the "people" I'm referring to are feminists who hold similar values as you, right? You don't care that they don't feel welcome? You're fine with a bunch of sub-communities because no one can actually fucking get on?

@OldCrone Are you SERIOUS?

  • "Prove it to me"
  • person proves it
  • "yeah well it's deserved"
Jesus Christ this is dire. Just so you know, I did go back and copy the posts that were insulting people's intelligence, but clearly, it wasn't fucking worth it - as someone already anticipated, you'll refute the lot anyway because it was "deserved".
Waitwhat23 · 17/03/2022 13:12

Except I read them and their insulting content

I've have found many of your posts on this thread and other threads, extraordinarily insulting. I haven't ever reported them because, despite your insistence on another thread, many regular posters will very rarely report posts as they view it as a good thing for such posts to be allowed to stand to show other posters how a conversation has gone and because, and this is critical, this is a discussion board where dissenting views can be discussed.

If your argument is poor, it will be questioned. If you do not like being questioned, you will probably view this as a 'pile on'.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/03/2022 13:13

Has anyone verified what EW said yet or are we still all guessing?

I have no idea what other thread you could possibly be referring to. I have no recollection of discussing reporting posts with anyone on any thread.

And if you would like to report my comments on this thread, please feel free.

SamphiretheStickerist · 17/03/2022 13:40

Wait! Why the hell was I deleted - again!?!?!

I didn't use any of the "naughty" words. Made no personal slurs, didn't call anyone anything. NOTHING - no words, no ideas that weren't included in the couple of posts immediately above it!

What is going on?

OldCrone · 17/03/2022 13:46

What did you prove?
SamphiretheStickerist · 17/03/2022 13:49

@LaTisaniere

I don't get it, neither of you wanted to discuss what is was meant by 'being trans' and now you are shouting 'gaslighting!'?

Because they have both repeatedly said that this thread isn't even about that, it's about Emma and the Baftas, they didn't come here to debate whether or not TWAW yet you're just pushing and pushing them into doing it, then throwing toys out of the pram calling their posts incoherant and derailing when they repeatedly state "I didn't come here to debate about that".

How many of these did I miss when I went out?

That the thread has oved oon is one of the joys of Mumsnet, isn't it?

And given the very determined efforts to ensure derailment, diversion, additional inserts by many posters I am not sure what point is being made - other than an attempt to police a thread!

As for the "I won't debate that" statements, well fine. Scroll on by! But coming back to repeat that, to divert, subvert by that repetition and then call it some sort of proof of something!?

Weird. Utterly bemusing. And becoming ever more par for a certain course.

LaTisaniere · 17/03/2022 13:55

@OldCrone Really? Go back one page. Just one. @BlindGirlMcSqueaky pointed out a very recent post saying there's an astounding lack of intelligence on display.

People can search and see on this thread.
Intelligence HAS been questioned to put it mildly.
Probably because there's an astounding lack of it on display.

Oh, and then you immediately said that someone deserved to be called stupid. Hope that helps Smile

EeeICouldRipATissue · 17/03/2022 13:56

And given the very determined efforts to ensure derailment, diversion, additional inserts by many posters I am not sure what point is being made - other than an attempt to police a thread!

The diversion is those going on and on changing the subject to define trans, I just want to debate single sex spaces!
Why won't you etc etc etc
As I said like going into a litter tray topic about someone wanting advice on a certain brand of pet food, and others going no!
I want to debate the best way of training a dog to sit /lie down whatever!
Why won't you?!
😭😂
Poster wearily, yet again, why not start a thread on that then?!
All threads end up the same.
This is a thread about Emma Watson and her Baftas appearance.
It's like some posters think if they bonk people on the head with their opinions repeatedly they'll eventually wear them down to nodding along and agreeing.
Hmm

People came to the thread to talk about Emma Watson at the Baftas, as you can see from the title. People started talking about Emma Watson at the Baftas. The conversation moved on, away from Emma Watson at the Baftas. Is everyone who commented on Emma Watson at the Baftas obliged to talk about every other topic that comes up on the thread, just because they commented on the topic of Emma Watson at the Baftas? Or are they allowed to bow out of certain questions that they didn't come here to talk about?

RonniePickering · 17/03/2022 13:58

Dear God, I mentioned the astounding lack of intelligence on display because it had literally just been mentioned.
It's like pulling teeth this 😑

SamphiretheStickerist · 17/03/2022 13:58

[nods along agreeing]

Happy now Grin

SamphiretheStickerist · 17/03/2022 14:00

You are welcome

OldCrone · 17/03/2022 14:02

Oh, and then you immediately said that someone deserved to be called stupid.

I did not. I said If you say something stupid, I'm not sure why people aren't entitled to point out that you've made a stupid comment.

Saying you've made a stupid comment is not the same as saying you're stupid.

Exactly Grin
(and you've typed the words Emma Watson that many times in that comment it's starting to not look like real words anymore 🤣
Wonder if we say her name often enough does it invoke her presence kind of like a Beetle juice thing?! Grin

Saying you've made a stupid comment is not the same as saying you're stupid.

Alright then, I think the majority of the comments you've made are stupid. That's ok, right? You're not going to feel like I'm questioning your intelligence in the slightest if I word it like that, right? Because I'm not actually calling you stupid, right? And if a handful of other posters join in and call your comments stupid, still don't feel like we're questioning your intelligence? Glad we've cleared that up, I'll remember that for future, it's handy, thanks.
SamphiretheStickerist · 17/03/2022 14:12

Oh my word!

Could I draw a comparison without upsetting anyone's sensibilities? Or wil this too be deleted for not being polite enough?

Let's see...

Emma Watson's dig at JKR
LaTisaniere · 17/03/2022 14:12

@EeeICouldRipATissue I hope it does, I quite like her!

LaTisaniere · 17/03/2022 14:14

Don't worry @SamphiretheStickerist , the thread will soon be full and you'll have your board back, I'm sure no one will disagree with any of you for a few days, at least. Then you won't need to post dementor pictures Smile

IamAporcupine · 17/03/2022 14:17

@OldCrone

Yes, I meant someone who is undergoing some type of transition.
I was mainly focusing on the idea that to 'be trans', you have to do something. It's not just a feeling or an idea in your head.

But your question made me think, actually. What would be the 'minimum' transition 'required' to be considered trans? I guess this in theory would not be a problem per se if said transperson then didn't claim to be the opposite sex, and demand access to their spaces/rights/awards/etc etc.

SamphiretheStickerist · 17/03/2022 14:39

@LaTisaniere

Don't worry *@SamphiretheStickerist* , the thread will soon be full and you'll have your board back, I'm sure no one will disagree with any of you for a few days, at least. Then you won't need to post dementor pictures Smile
You don't get it. It isn't funny. It isn't my board.

And, like most posters here, I like disagreement, it gives everyone involve opportunities to develop their idea, opinions, thoughts, beliefs.. But to do that it has to have some kind of inherent logic.

I hope your amusement lasts. I hope you have enjoyed the thread. Mostly (please read this in the most poe faced tone you can manage) I hope that at some point you revisit some of the points made and wonder why so many women are so passionate about keeping men out of women's spaces and identifying, remonstrating against those who choose to give away the rights of women so easily.

Meanwhile, just so's you understand why I am being so poe faced about this. Ask yourself why Google gives results like this when asked to list people murdered by a transwoman. And then ponder why you accept that the world is like this. So many organisations, individuals captured by the same people who also influence programmers to re-write Google Searches to give such skewed results.

And also the people who use such results to position transwomen as the most vulnerable everywhere.

2021

375 transwomen killed worldwide 70% in Central/South America in the sex trade; 0, possibly 1, transwomen in the UK killed

141 women in the UK killed by a partner, numbers still rising as cases become known

Stopped smiling yet?

Emma Watson's dig at JKR
LaTisaniere · 17/03/2022 14:43

@SamphiretheStickerist I think that earlier on in the thread it was you who said that I presumed something about you (correct me if wrong) but in this instance, you're presuming something about me. I haven't spoken about my views on anything you've brought up in your previous post. You have absolutely no clue whether I agree or disagree with you about any of that. You've no clue if I have any personal experience or traumas with anything you've said, so please don't presume.

I started posting on this thread because I saw the sheer hypocrisy and double standards going around. I made my opinion clear in my many posts and haven't spoken about pretty much anything else, nor has anyone else (bar you) presumed my thoughts on the matters in your post. So I really think that you should direct your latest message to someone else.

SamphiretheStickerist · 17/03/2022 14:54

I presume nothing. I hope a lot!

LaTisaniere · 17/03/2022 14:56

Oh, and why would I enjoy a thread that's half-filled with demeaning and spiteful insults being thrown at one woman and the other half with "outsider" posters having their intelligence questioned?
