YogabirthUK cancel event after Freddy McConnell flounce

Saw this on twitter this morning but can't see a thread here.

Milli Hill was supposed to be appearing at an event run by YogabirthUK entitled 'Gender and Birth: A space to listen.' Milli was lined up to appear alongside Freddy McConnell and another speaker, but Freddy pulled out after the event was announced, on the grounds that Freddy could not appear 'alongside/after/in the same remote vicinity' as a birth specialist who recognises biological sex.

Full tantrum available here. twitter.com/millihill/status/1498060037536714752

The YogabirthUK Instagram link is worth looking at too. Lots of support for Milli Hill and regret about the cancellation of an event that was literally supposed to be providing 'space to listen', but the TRA input is interesting and very telling. (Spoiler alert: TRA claims MH is a disgusting transphobe for being exclusionary to transwomen when - crucially - Freddy is a transman. And excluded Freddyself.)

I am having one of those days when my patience with all this feels very thin. Very thin indeed.

@Datun

The male individual who managed, after a cocktail of drugs, to squeeze a bit of liquid out for their baby confessed to a frisson of excitement during the experience.

I seem to remember it was in a rather coy, 'yes shucks, you got me' kind of way.

Here's 'I got off on it' person. Says both parents were nearly 40 when they got together, whereas the one in the article was 30, so I think two different people.

"Having breasts was great, but using them to feed another human being? That was magic. Specifically, it was mom magic. I might have been my daughter's sperm donor, but breastfeeding was how I knew I was going to be a mom. It validated my womanhood as much as any surgery ever could."

Sick.
No other words.

@DobbyTheHouseElk

Thanks.
Freddy crowdfunded to have the second child in Sweden as they allow the mother to be called father on the birth certificate. Unfortunately, Freddy suffered pregnancy complications (which may or may not be related to testosterone) which meant the baby was delivered early as the placenta stopped growing.

Freddy has refused to say what sex this new baby is, instead referring to them as Little Bird. Freddy's older child is a boy.

I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

RVN123 · 02/03/2022 18:05

Well it doesn't matter if Freddy refuses to assign a sex to the baby.
Nature has already done that for them.

RVN123 · 02/03/2022 18:07

Actually, scratch that.
Assign isn't the word I should have used.
Nature has given a sex to that baby which be with it it's entire life.
Soz about that Freddy.

KittenKong · 02/03/2022 18:37

I wonder if Freddie screens the interactions the babies have with family and acquaintances who does agree with Freddie’s view on sex?

Rococococo · 02/03/2022 18:51

Freddy’s fundraiser is still active. I can’t believe they were going to try to get the NHS to pay Freddy’s medical bills in Sweden 🤢

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/03/2022 19:13

I’m glad I watched the seahorse documentary. It was really powerful. I do wonder how Freddie’s children will grow up. It must be very confusing to be told your father is the same sex when the body looks so very different.

I wonder if he will homeschool his children so he can protect them from people who might have different views.

I remember he went to court over the mother/father issue. I feel so much sadness and confusion over this issue.

ChateauMargaux · 02/03/2022 19:22

Anyone else struggling to read the word 'transparent' these days...

ChateauMargaux · 02/03/2022 19:33

As in .. All speakers were invited to participate openly & transparently..

You what! The NHS which is on its knees at the moment as we slowly emerge from a pandemic, the NHS which needs every penny it has for essential services?

You think you've heard everything, and then ...

Rococococo · 02/03/2022 19:57

Yup.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/03/2022 20:06

So what are they doing with the money raised so far??

RVN123 · 02/03/2022 20:07

If the NHS fund this, when there is perfectly good maternity care in this country, then they are off their heads.

Entitled, arrogant, self obsessed.
Poor poor children.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/03/2022 20:13

It’s a huge vanity project imo.

Did I read correctly that the eldest child still hasn’t got a birth certificate so the birth isn’t registered? How does that work with schooling/health care?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/03/2022 20:15

Ordinary people who don't register a birth face criminal proceedings, don't they?

RVN123 · 02/03/2022 20:44

What Freddy and their ilk fail to realise or acknowledge is that a birth certificate is a true record of the child's birth and is FOR THE CHILD.
It's not a validation exercise for the parent.

It usually states who mothered and fathered the child in a biological sense.
It was the same with the trans couple I mentioned up thread. Footage showed them discussing how upset their parents were that they were refusing to reveal the sex of the baby.
God knows why.
It's almost as if the baby is an extension to their fantasy role play.

Can you imagine? "Oh I'm a Grandmother now!"...
"Great! Is it a boy or a girl?".......
."F**k knows".........

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/03/2022 21:14

So that child has no record of birth. How does that work for accessing healthcare? Poor kid.

OperationDessertStorm · 02/03/2022 21:52

And what precedent does that set for other groups who want to conceal a child. We keep reading about ‘ghost children’ who have fallen off the radar (out of school, healthcare etc) during the pandemic.

This is so weird. Freddy’s children apparently need birth certificates that “reflect their truth”.

Surely birth certificates are intended to be a public record of THE truth? Hmm

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/03/2022 22:22

As far as I understand it, for a child to have a passport, they need permission from their Mother, not their Father. That must have annoyed Freddie as well.

RVN123 · 02/03/2022 22:37

If birth certificates can reflect everyone's personal truth, can I knock 20 years off my age please?
If not...WHY not?

NitroNine · 02/03/2022 22:59

Do you think there’s ANY way FM genuinely didn’t understand that “having a baby” is clearly not, in any way, what the S2 route is for?

Or is “seeking clarity” just code for “having a massive tantrum & making unreasonable demands of the NHS with the expectation they will do as I want as soon as I Say The Magic Word”. The NEW magic word, obviously: why would you ask & say “please” when you can instead make demands & use accusations of transphobia to get what you want, after all?

WinterTrees · 02/03/2022 22:59

If we're all about 'my truth' now, court cases are going to get quite confusing.
