Great article in Spiked Online about Mridul Wadwha's latest shenanigans:

www.spiked-online.com/2022/02/01/the-thought-police-are-here/

To briefly summarise:

  • Mridul was born male
  • Mridul is legally male with no GRC
  • Mridul is the CEO of Edinburgh Rape crisis
  • Mridul claims women who want female only rape crisis services are bigoted and should 'reframe their trauma'
  • The CEO of a domestic violence charity Nicola Murray stopped referring women to Mridul's rape crisis service due to Mridul's misogyny
  • Mridul reported Nicola Murray to the police for committing a hate crime
  • The police actually visited Nicola Murray to question her thinking

The sad thing is Mridul could have pioneered specialist sexual violence recovery services for trans survivors.

If Mridul was as passionate about helping trans survivors as Mridul was about forcing themselves upon vulnerable women then Mridul could have made a real, progressive change to sexual violence services.

Mridul could have been a bloody hero.

Instead Mridul chose to alienate hundreds, perhaps thousands of female rape survivors.

@PurgatoryOfPotholes wait, what? MW actually compared themselves to the Hindu Goddess Kali? The Hindu goddess associated with death, violence and sexuality? The Hindu goddess often depicted holding a bloody knife?

Mridul has got to be trolling us.

Yes, Mridul did.

DomesticatedZombie · 05/02/2022 15:28

Posted that picture on Twitter, I believe, with something about enemies.

I find it always interesting who defends MW. This is a person who seems to have no issue progressing their own agenda to the detriment of females.

I cannot imagine a person being so incensed because a law was passed that allowed females to ask for female medical examiners and expect a female medical examiner. And that law had an amendment that meant a transitioned male would not be acceptable.

Once you realise this is the ceo of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre, and all the other things Wadhwa has done and said and tweeted, it must take some strength of devotion to trans activism to continue to support them. And to attempt to put any positive spin on their actions.

IamSarah · 05/02/2022 16:08

DomesticatedZombie That Twitter thread is excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Helleofabore I can tell you who defends MW - the rape crisis service in Brighton. Survivors Network.

It's hard to understand the motivation for this. It's especially hard when Mridul is so obviously trolling women and getting a kick from it.

survivorsnetwork.org.uk/solidarity-better-sector/

'We want to extend our solidarity specifically to Mridul Wadhwa and the team at Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre who are doing extraordinary work supporting survivors while also facing transphobic abuse.'

@BernardBlackMissesLangCleg

are we allowed to say yet that it's incredibly fucking creepy for a man to move heaven and earth to have a career which gives him power over vulnerable and traumatised women?
There are plenty of male identified men who work in VAWG services, why aren't you attacking them?
BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 05/02/2022 17:20

I started typing out a reply to the poster above, but stopped

they talk such utter mince that I can't even be bothered engaging

Or perhaps you don't understand the relationship many Hindus have with Kali. Would you attack a Christian or Jew for discussing their religion?

Am starting to wonder if there's more than just 'genuine concerns' underlying these attacks.

MW had a hissy fit and dumped the SNP, & joined the Greens over that issue, which is appropriate as The Greens are absolute misogynists now. Thank goodness for Jo Cherry and the others who stood up for other women that day. It would have been an absolutely tragedy if MW & their ilk had prevailed.
Rhannion · 05/02/2022 17:25

Oh barley you really are off the charts now.

Why, Kali is thought of as the Mother Goddess, there's nothing unusual about the way Mridul refers to her in a Hindu context, she is probably the most revered deity and many people have statues of her in their homes.
Goatsaregreat · 05/02/2022 17:35

What's a male identified man? Grin

I think a deity figure holding a severed head and weapons is pretty clear. I believe that this was posted on the next tweet on 5 Nov 2020.

The goddess Kali destroys evil and she is violent. Evil can be destroyed without violence which is what I do. Kali is just the manifestation of that
energy. Your racist, transphobic, islamophobic trolling only keeps me going. keep at it, the hate burns you not me.

I think posters trying to spin this as not intending to send a ‘message’ are either disingenuous or ignorant of the twitter history of the person they are intent on defending at all costs.

Kali is a manifestation of Parvati in many Hindu traditions, Parvati transforms into Kali to protect her son Shiva.

Are you obecting to an Asian woman being angry about racism now?
bishophaha · 05/02/2022 18:14

I don't know what a "male identified man" is but not sure why barley is equating MW with one.

Helleofabore · 05/02/2022 18:19

Are you being your normal ‘rhetorical’ self, barley?

I think everyone sees your post for what it is. Playing down the actions of a person who professes to be working for protecting women when they are clearly not.

I am not sure why you are so determined to do so, that is your business. But I think many people when they see this person’s interviews over the years and their tweets and their actions can make up their minds whether they agree with you. Or not.

I'm sure they can. And I'm sure many people will come to their own conclusions about why an Asian women is being attacked for talking about her religion and being angry about the racist abuse she receives.
