These people are just so pathetic.

The pictures and videos from FiLiA today are absolutely fantastic, wish I could be there!

RainbowCrossing · 16/10/2021 20:33

How misogynistic do they have to be before people stop calling them TRA and refer to them as Anti-women activists?

We only need to say TWAM for it to be 'anti-trans' but apparently all this 'bitches', 'suck my dick', 'cunts', that's all fine because blah blah oppressed minority.

It's so fucking blatant now. Angry

Yes - I've seen the posts on FB and I'm feeling properly envious!

Portsmouth is a bit far for me, but I'm hoping to make it in future years.

Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet · 16/10/2021 20:39

I know.

Purple and green ribbons warrant police intervention because they make people feel 'unsafe', but signs they say 'such my dick you transphobic cunts' and #killjkrowling are not only apparently fine, but also coming from 'the most marginalised and oppressed in our society'.

Please.

What a load of shiiiiiiiiiiite.

PaleGreenGhost · 16/10/2021 20:48

Amnesty was supporting the misogynist protests Shock

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 16/10/2021 21:00

students are currently being given permission to trot out mantras, and adopt Orwellian opinions as opposed to engage in critical thinking.

This is unnervingly on-point and a useful extension to the current commentary about the Nolan podcasts from people who are condemning the unheard programmes using the ready-to-dispense mantras of those to whom they've outsourced their opinions and decision-making.

Redshoeblueshoe · 16/10/2021 21:07

BingBongSong they hold it in different places every year.

Amnesty are not the charity they used to be. They're full-blown misogynists now. Lots and lots of threads here on FWR over the years if you run a search.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/10/2021 22:34

Isn't it odd how they're so proud of openly voicing threats of dreadful sexual violence against women? And they never wonder why women see people like this as a danger to women and girls?

LobsterNapkin · 16/10/2021 23:39

Amnesty lost the plot when they stopped concentrating on prisoners of conscience and instead started to try and impose western ideas about everything else on other nations and cultures. Which is ironic for a group supposedly invested in freedom of thought and expression.

It's a neat little vignette of what has gone wrong more generally.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 17/10/2021 09:38

infuriating

imagine telling people to 'suck my dick' and thinking you're the good guy. how closed down can people be?

Cardiff next year.

Good camping and campervan parking in Sophia Gardens, which is an oasis in the city centre, and the usual hotels, lodges and AirB&Bs. Good transport links.

BingBongSong · 17/10/2021 15:22

Cardiff! I have a friend there who may or may not be interested in going.

Was gutted to miss Bradford, but it always falls in half term and I end up having other commitments. Will definitely try to make it next year.

Cwenthryth · 17/10/2021 17:02

Does anyone know the venue in Cardiff?

I’m on the train home now. What an exhilarating weekend. A lot to take in. And a renewed determination to get back in the fight and take action that will make a positive difference.

SocialConnection · 17/10/2021 18:23

Probably the most helpful and telling photo from the protesters at Filia this weekend. I wish I was there. Same day as the little anti-Stock student strop-in at Sussex Uni.

Kendodd · 17/10/2021 18:32

Are any of the talks available on YouTube?

ArabellaScott · 17/10/2021 19:03

During my session on the themes in my book on feminism, trans activists positioned themselves directly outside the windows, and attempted to drown out my words with “Blow jobs are real jobs”

Shock

And sadly the protesters had left by the time the dinosaurs arrived!

Maskless · 17/10/2021 22:56

A few things that have made my blood boil!

  1. Portsmouth Council decided this weekend would be the perfect time to fly the "trans flag" from its building(s).
  1. Amnesty supported the anti-democratic, woman-hating mob.
  1. An art lecturer from Portsmouth Uni tweeted how proud she was to have helped the WHM with their chalking and banners.
  1. Reclaim the Streets Portsmouth praised the chalkings and the WHM hating women for meeting for a conference.
  1. The entire vile protest was the brainchild of an elected Portsmouth City councillor.

I know, it's so ridiculous. They are protected by their 'special' status, so their aggressive and abusive behaviour is excused and even celebrated.

And somehow we're the unreasonable ones Hmm.

Maskless · 17/10/2021 23:03

Portsmouth City councillor Claire Edy.

Female lecturer.
Female councillor.
Females amongst the WHM.

Wtf?

SpindelWhorl · 17/10/2021 23:03

@Maskless, do you have the Twitter link? Her arts quite ... shit. I'd love to admire more of it.

For a brief, unspectacled moment, I thought that was a chalk drawing of Toothless.
Athenajm80 · 17/10/2021 23:06

Amazing! Thanks for letting us know. I will be there, hopefully with friends, but if not I will be there on my own. 🙂
