That's it really.

For a woman in her position to go on Glinner's channel .. that's bravery ... that's ovaries of steel.

My admiration for her grows daily.

And I would definitely recommend seeing @MargaritaPie other thread - replies from other posters are very informative.

NewMutiny · 30/09/2021 14:54

@RoyalCorgi

Shame on you, MargaritaPie. That was a paranoid schizophrenic male who attacked an escort, also male, after arranging online to meet for sex.

More than anything, this illustrates how vulnerable prostitutes are to male violence. While I see lots of feminists try to address this problem, I don't see many trans activists doing so, oddly enough.

Just remind me. Is there anyone on this thread who always turns up to bang on about legalising 'sex work'?
CharlieParley · 30/09/2021 15:26

Regarding the women who was sadly attacked, the media does make it clear it was a "targeted hate crime". This would suggest to me the problem is hatred against transpeople.

The media makes whatever they want to out of this case.

The fact is a paranoid schizophrenic man arranged to meet a male escort for sex online. This person then stabbed the escort on the doorstep. The court committed the perpetrator to be held in hospital so he can get help for his severe mental illness. The victim thankfully recovered.

The type of targeted hate crime you're alluding to with your comments is not what happened here. This wasn't about opposition to the doctrine of gender identity and its political implications. This was the act of a mentally ill man whose reasoning was severely impacted by being a paranoid schizophrenic.

@AbandonedCharacter

I'm glad you brought up your thread *@MargaritaPie* - are you going to return to answer the questions?
Which thread is it, please?
toomanytrees · 30/09/2021 15:50

Back to Rosie. She answered the questions without being evasive, and made clear, calm, coherent arguments. She also explained how she came to her positions. Whether I agree with her or not, this is what I expect from a politician.

Waitwhat23 · 30/09/2021 18:45

This thread?

If I were you, I wouldn't be directing people towards that thread, Margarita. It is a marvellous example of your lack of knowledge regarding Scottish politics and culture and beautifully proves my previous comments on this thread.

She really was excellent.

The whole episode is really interesting.
Speaking of Glinner...

grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/just-had-a-visit-from-the-police
Women are being murdered and the police have time for this blatant harassment of an innocent man.

Deliriumoftheendless · 30/09/2021 19:39

There have been Pie skits on the subject before. And of course Andrew Doyle discusses it frequently, too

Is Jonathan Margarita’s brother perhaps?

Abhannmor · 30/09/2021 19:50

@NecessaryScene

Watching this now, and I think Rosie just made Graham's year:

Can I just say to Helen actually - she's saying that I've brought this to the world stage. It is incredibly important that people like me, who've come along now, acknowledge all of the things that you guys have done. Because you're incredibly... I mean, you know, all of the stuff that you've said and done has led me here and, sort of you know, you've walked through the streets on your own with a kind of torch going "look at me", and it's terrifying.

And it's scary for me in Parliament, kind of looking behind me and going "Oh my god, everyone hates me and no one's backing me up", but you guys were there first, and you taught me what was going on, and you were much braver. And Graham being completely, you know, obliterated by Twitter must have been pretty horrible.

By the look on his face, I think she's just secured a number one fan for life. Grin

(The cynic in me thinks that politicians are a bit too good at that sort of flattery + telling people what they want to hear, but I'm happy enough to see it directed at Helen+Graham+Arty).

I think it's lovely she credited the Mess with ploughing this lonely furrow all these years. Because you just know , when the wind changes , all the phoneys , croneys and celebs will just slime over to the GC side. Yet ppl like Graham and Gillian Philip will struggle for work. Bravo to Helen and Arty too.
MargaritaPie · 30/09/2021 19:55

"the police have time for this blatant harassment of an innocent man."

Who, Glinner? The guy who has previously received a police warning, banned from Twitter, and banned from a lesbian dating app for being a transphobic troll. I also saw a video of the 6 and a half foot tall man on Twitter point his finger in the face of a woman who doesn't agree with his transphobic views, and need to be moved on by a police officer.

"Innocent" ha, you crack me up.

SpringCrocus · 30/09/2021 20:32

I'm proud to have dug, supported, bought, posted, talked to friends and generally done what I could to support the GC cause.

SpringCrocus · 30/09/2021 20:33

And particularly Glinner. He didn't need to do any of this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/09/2021 20:44

banned from a lesbian dating app for being a transphobic troll very effectively highlighting to the world that their supposedly lesbian site was full of male people.

FTFY, Marg

TheMarzipanDildo · 30/09/2021 21:56

Rosie was fabulous, and I love The Mess We’re In.

MidsomerMurmurs · 30/09/2021 22:10

@MargaritaPie I also saw a video of the 6 and a half foot tall man on Twitter point his finger in the face of a woman who doesn't agree with his transphobic views

Oh you saw it on Twitter did you?
How about the homophobic behaviour of the TRAs eh? grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/welsh-feminists-face-down-homophobic

You can’t let women, and especially not lesbians, have any right to speak can you? Misogyny and homophobia in action. Own your viewpoint. It’s a free country. People are allowed to be misogynistic homophobes, but they should stop lecturing the rest of us.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/09/2021 22:14

Glinner did NOT receive a police warning.
Fancy promoting the antics of Stephanie Haden to try and paint someone else in a bad light Grin

Anyway, yes Rosie was and is fabulous. I wonder if she's decided to go out with a bang. This cervix nonsense seems to be one of the big take aways from the Labour Parry Conference (along with Angela Raynor being Angela Raynor). I can't help being a little amused. What a disaster Labour are.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/09/2021 22:17

@MargaritaPie I also saw a video of the 6 and a half foot tall man on Twitter point his finger in the face of a woman who doesn't agree with his transphobic views

I also saw on twitter a large man charging at a woman screaming "Witch! Witch! Witch!"

And people posting porn to JK Rowling's thread about a children's book.

And more threats of violence from TRAs than I can count.

metro.co.uk/2021/02/23/graham-linehan-joins-queer-womens-dating-app-her-stunt-14130662/

It would appear his little stunt didn't go to plan. He was removed and a statement for the app clarified the app was for all women and expressed their support for trans...

"A statement from Her on Twitter shared the app’s support for ‘all women and queer folk’, and while it didn’t mention Linehan by name, it said that the offending user would be removed from the platform.

The statement read: ‘Let’s make this clear: HER is an app for ALL WOMEN and queer folx. It is not our, nor anyone else’s place to question or invalidate another’s identity. We are here for ALL WOMEN, including the trans community"

Further info- Glinehan complained about the above Metro article to the IPSO. His complaint wasn't upheld.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 30/09/2021 22:36

I can’t work out if its good for marian that there is a new fixation on glinner?

yourhairiswinterfire · 30/09/2021 22:37

What was the difference between Graham's account on the app and the other ''lesbians'' with penises on there? Genuinely? Why is one ok and the other not?

Special feelings?

WeeBisom · 30/09/2021 22:54

Well, I’m really upset that I go onto “her” and encounter clearly male profiles. If glinner was banned then all the other males should be banned too.

MargaritaPie · 30/09/2021 23:02

"If glinner was banned then all the other males should be banned too

I'm sure the app's mods are perfectly capable of differentiating between transwomen and pathetic trolls out to cause trouble.

And if an app is upsetting you so much then noone's forcing you to use it.

OldCrone · 30/09/2021 23:04

I'm sure the app's mods are perfectly capable of differentiating between transwomen and pathetic trolls out to cause trouble.

Go on then, explain how you can tell the difference between a 'transwoman' and a man pretending to be a 'transwoman'.

No explanation is necessary. All the hateful diatribes Glinner writes about transwomen and his behaviour at anti-trans events makes his intentions perfectly clear I think.
