That's it really.

For a woman in her position to go on Glinner's channel .. that's bravery ... that's ovaries of steel.

My admiration for her grows daily.

Just listened. Rosie was so composed and reasonable - her courage is extraordinary.

I agree. Part of me is wondering if Rosie is pushing this to make Labour take a stand. She'll be well aware of the frothing at the mouth it will cause and it will point so many people to Glinner's channel. There will be much sunlight, all the political commentators and MPs worth their salt will watch it. If they remove the whip from her the shitstorm will be massive. I think she's clever and brave.

I expect that she's also aware that her time in parliament is limited. Her seat was won by a tiny margin usually occupied by Tories. She won largely on the back of students rallying for Corbyn. As soon as she got that first backlash for retweeting 'only women have cervixes' I'm sure she could see the writing on the wall.

So I think she's brave and clever to make the most of her remaining time as MP to push this into the sunlight at great personal cost. I for one am grateful she did because that sunlight has been illuminating this week with the sheer amount of supposedly adult politicians unable to use or define the word woman or give a coherent answer about female anatomy.

I suppose there's an outside chance she'll get reelected by angry women of Canterbury but probably unlikely.

Margarita, you've had your arse absolutely handed to you on every thread about Marion or the situation in Scotland due your embarrassing lack of knowledge. For someone seemingly so obsessed, you seem incredibly uninformed about all aspects of Scotland while holding it's people in complete contempt.

Which side of the debate is the hate and violence coming from exactly?

Really? www.terfisaslur.com

Greenmirrorbluemirror · 29/09/2021 21:58

Another really interesting guest Glinner had on was Skylar Gwynn and her interview . Fascinating woman, on coming out as a lesbian late in life and what she describes as "the new homophobia that calls itself progressive."

BeanieSue · 29/09/2021 22:07

[quote MargaritaPie]Above I mentioned Glinner had recently been visited by the police, which had been brushed off by another poster here.

If I may elaborate on this, 2 years ago he was given a police warning regarding his gender critical related behaviour.

I didn't know about that incident. But it actually says he was told not to contact a person. And that guardian report provides some interesting information about the person that he wasn't to contact. That person seems to spend their time suing people.

PronounssheRa · 29/09/2021 22:10

Oh do Google that person, there is much more than the one article, its not the gotcha MargaritaPie thinks it is.

MargaritaPie · 29/09/2021 22:17

"you seem incredibly uninformed about all aspects of Scotland"

Glinner is Irish is he not?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 29/09/2021 22:21

@MargaritaPie

"you seem incredibly uninformed about all aspects of Scotland"

Glinner is Irish is he not?

Yessssss

Thats not what the poster was referring to mind

Waitwhat23 · 29/09/2021 22:24

Marion didn't take her initial police visit seriously judging from her Twitter posts at the time and, well, now look where she is.

Your words. The first time in the thread Marion had been mentioned. Because you are absolutely, bizarrely obsessed.

And oh aye, Marion is Scottish, is she not?

Yet again, actually embarrassed for you.

JustSpeculation · 29/09/2021 22:26

I was surprised watching Rosie Duffield on that podcast. She spoke very freely. So freely that it's clear she isn't expecting much of a future in the Labour movement. But, good lord she's got guts! We need more of that.

somethinginoffensive · 29/09/2021 22:39

I agree justspeculation, I was expecting much more careful language. She was compassionate and thoughtful but also completely clear about how bad this situation is.

AbandonedCharacter · 29/09/2021 22:43

Thanks @MargaritaPie - I wouldn't have seen his subscription offer if you hadn't had linked!

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 29/09/2021 22:57

Yes, I'd like to thank Margarita for that link too, I'd been meaning to subscribe so it was great to see there was a special offer.

Rosie was truly brave and stunning.

Mollyollydolly · 29/09/2021 22:58

Yes I've just subscribed, been meaning to do it for ages. Thank you.

It's only 30 quid for a year at the moment. Bargain.

Is Glinner in need of cash or something? I would have thought co-writing something like Father Ted would have a half-decent pay.

Think we're his accountants or something?

Pathetic.

Your 'people' have ensured Glinner has been no platformed. Our people will ensure he and others like him will survive until this madness is over. You do realise MargaritaPie that you and those like you will be 100% responsible for the backtracking of any rights for transgender people?

No idea .. I'm paying for the content. Worth it to listen to Rosie talking so much sense.

"You do realise MargaritaPie that you and those like you will be 100% responsible for the backtracking of any rights for transgender people"

Meaning what exactly?

EdgeOfACoin · 30/09/2021 03:22

@PronounssheRa

This.
MidsomerMurmurs · 30/09/2021 06:23

Meaning what exactly?

Before all the self-ID related vicious activism, open misogyny and homophobia started (thanks Stonewall) - so really before about 2015 - most people were willing to go along with things like the GRA. Look at the Hansard records from 2005 of people like David Lammy on another thread, about how there were approx 5000 transsexuals in the UK and people had to have a “diagnosis” (his word) of gender dysphoria and there was no way this system could be abused. It was all about being kind to a tiny number of vulnerable people.

Now, once people see the vicious women-hating bullying, the “kill JKR” banners, the absolute insanity of “gender ideology”, some people are suggesting that the GRA needs to be scrapped and replaced with something that works. Those people are not wrong.

Does that help?

NecessaryScene · 30/09/2021 07:14

Watching this now, and I think Rosie just made Graham's year:

Can I just say to Helen actually - she's saying that I've brought this to the world stage. It is incredibly important that people like me, who've come along now, acknowledge all of the things that you guys have done. Because you're incredibly... I mean, you know, all of the stuff that you've said and done has led me here and, sort of you know, you've walked through the streets on your own with a kind of torch going "look at me", and it's terrifying.

And it's scary for me in Parliament, kind of looking behind me and going "Oh my god, everyone hates me and no one's backing me up", but you guys were there first, and you taught me what was going on, and you were much braver. And Graham being completely, you know, obliterated by Twitter must have been pretty horrible.

By the look on his face, I think she's just secured a number one fan for life. Grin

(The cynic in me thinks that politicians are a bit too good at that sort of flattery + telling people what they want to hear, but I'm happy enough to see it directed at Helen+Graham+Arty).

NancyDrawed · 30/09/2021 07:19

Thanks for the link to Glinner's Zoom thing.

I agree with a PP, it was striking how freely Rosie Duffield spoke - truly stunning and brave. She will be preparing herself for the backlash, I'm sure. Also interesting that Glinner said that there were a higher number of trolls than usual, could it be that the TRA lobby don't want more people to hear what RD has to say on this? Surely not!

It clearly showed what KJK said a few days ago - when you are sure of what you are saying and BELIEVE in what you are saying, the words flow easily, as demonstrated by RD's ease and coherence talking about this issue compared to Rachel Reeves's blustering and inability to speak when asked a direct question earlier in the week. Heck, even Emily Thornbury's 'I know a man with a cervix' was direct and non blustery, because of her link to a transman.
