That's it really.

For a woman in her position to go on Glinner's channel .. that's bravery ... that's ovaries of steel.

My admiration for her grows daily.

@EdgeOfACoin

I feel this thread is being seriously derailed...
Yes, in a really ghoulish,manipulative manner.

TRAs are already incandescent that Rosie attended the Labour Women's Declaration meeting (David Paisley was leading the charge - what exactly it's got to do with him I don't know and has he left Scotland yet?). They are going to EXPLODE.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/09/2021 07:34

It clearly showed what KJK said a few days ago - when you are sure of what you are saying and BELIEVE in what you are saying, the words flow easily, as demonstrated by RD's ease and coherence talking about this issue compared to Rachel Reeves's blustering and inability to speak when asked a direct question earlier in the week. Heck, even Emily Thornbury's 'I know a man with a cervix' was direct and non blustery, because of her link to a transman.

Absolutely. I was nodding along when she said this.

Greenmirrorbluemirror · 30/09/2021 08:33

To be fair, it's not a particularly skilled attempt at derailment. This thread has produced frenzied leaping from one amazing 'gotcha' moment to another, including:

  1. A link to Glinner's own account on how he's been harrassed and targeted.
  2. Bringing up a live legal case that the poster has previously been warned not to discuss.
  3. An incident clearly showing the dangers of male pattern violence in society.
  4. Introducing people to Stephanie Hayden, that is a fun google for anyone who is interested.
  5. Trivia fact: Glinner is Irish!
  6. Providing free advertisment for the subscription to Glinner's substack, currently only £30 a year or £3.50 per month.

From a TRA perspective, I wouldn't consider this to be the most efficient method of diverting attention from the matter at hand.

However, from a GC feminist viewpoint, I say rock on MargaritaPie. Keep it up, I'm rooting for you.

@NewMutiny

I don't agree with all of anyone's approaches and tone. Do you? Hmm
If I'm talking about a public figure, as I am, I may comment on their publicly expressed views, how they approach them and the tone they use.

It's a fairly usual thing to say that you agree in part.

I've no idea why this surprises you or causes a Hmm emoji.

TinselAngel · 30/09/2021 09:18

I'm convinced that the main reason the TRA's really hate Rosie Duffield is because she is so pretty and they are jealous.

prudencepuffin · 30/09/2021 09:25

Rosie is obviously one tough cookie and thank god for that. Glinner speaks up for women at some cost to himself - he is not expected to achieve sainthood in everything he says.

MaMaLa321 · 30/09/2021 09:27

GL has put his livelihood on the line to support women, as I don't believe he'll be commissioned to write a comedy series again, sadly. I would love to see any of the figures in the entertainment world who people DO approve of saying anything about this.
I applaud courage when I see it, and, as a woman, I'm grateful for it.

MaMaLa321 · 30/09/2021 09:31

Personally I'm waiting for Jonathan Pie to do something on this. After all, his USP is being outspoken. But no, it's obviously on the too difficult pile, which is strange, given that it's an open goal.

Bambooshoot · 30/09/2021 10:00

@Stealhsquirrelnutkin

Yes, I'd like to thank Margarita for that link too, I'd been meaning to subscribe so it was great to see there was a special offer.

Rosie was truly brave and stunning.

Another thanks to @MargaritaPie, I've subscribed as well!
SpringCrocus · 30/09/2021 11:29

Gosh, that was good!
Brava, Rosie, brava.

Jaysmith71 · 30/09/2021 11:33

When the dust settles and Glinner can write the autobiographical sitcom about this, I hope Helen Staniland will be played by Pauline McLynn.

Separated at birth.

CharlieParley · 30/09/2021 11:38

@MargaritaPie

And this from just yesterday...

www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-birmingham-58718183

"A transgender woman was attacked on her doorstep in a "horrific" targeted hate crime, police said"

Which side of the debate is the hate and violence coming from exactly?

Shame on you, MargaritaPie. That was a paranoid schizophrenic male who attacked an escort, also male, after arranging online to meet for sex.

How dare you create an equivalence between our evidence-based largely respectful, legal and human rights-focused debate and the actions of a severely mentally ill and violent man.

MargaritaPie · 30/09/2021 11:41

"A link to Glinner's own account on how he's been harrassed and targeted"

He's been "harassed and targeted" because the police asked to speak to him? Ok sure, whatever.

@PronounssheRa

Oh do Google that person, there is much more than the one article, its not the gotcha MargaritaPie thinks it is.
Yes, and if you do, here's an interesting judgement delivered against that person here: www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/QB/2020/3291.html

It was an astonishing and delightful read. (If you like that kind of thing Grin)

TheWeeDonkey · 30/09/2021 11:59

Thanks for sharing OP, it was a really good episode. RD came across as compassionate and knowledgeable which is more than can be said of other Labour Party members recently. I thought it was interesting the amount of heckling they got too but as they said and as demonstrated here, they rarely engage with what is being discussed or make an interesting contribution.

IsitM · 30/09/2021 12:44

I was fortunate enough to meet Rosie Duffield on Tuesday, at the brilliant LWD meeting. She spoke from the heart and was clearly emotional, as did Tonia Antoniazzi. Both those female Labour MPs stayed and spoke to dozens and dozens of people afterwards.
I’m not a Labour Party member, I’m a member of the Conservative party, and I know for a fact that those two women will have support at the next election from a very large number of women whatever their politics. Sadly, I can imagine many in their party will attempt to get them deselected.
Even career politicians need to wake up; women are not going away. We’re really only just getting started. Women like Rosie and Tonia have other MPs standing with them in the background. Their bravery will enable more to speak out eventually. I would advise any MP to speak out now, because it will soon be too late and you will be seen for the bandwagon jumper you are.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 30/09/2021 12:51

Thanks for the Glinner Substack info. I just subscribed. £30 for the year is bargain. Grin

There have been Pie skits on the subject before. And of course Andrew Doyle discusses it frequently, too.
RoyalCorgi · 30/09/2021 13:17

More than anything, this illustrates how vulnerable prostitutes are to male violence. While I see lots of feminists try to address this problem, I don't see many trans activists doing so, oddly enough.

Greenmirrorbluemirror · 30/09/2021 13:20

@MargaritaPie

"A link to Glinner's own account on how he's been harrassed and targeted"

Once would be unsettling or just annoying, depending on your viewpoint.

However, having the police sent round three times to your own home for holding views that some people online don't agree with seems a bit much. Down with that sort of thing!

By the way, I think you should ask Glinner for some commission. That link has definitely brought him at least 7 new subscriptions from this thread, including me.

I genuinely thank you for letting me know about the sale, I wouldn't have known otherwise. Grin

MargaritaPie · 30/09/2021 13:35

Subscribe to the Glinster all you want. Give him tips or even buy him a new car I don't really care lol

Regarding the women who was sadly attacked, the media does make it clear it was a "targeted hate crime". This would suggest to me the problem is hatred against transpeople.

There's a reason why some Universities (see thread I recently made) are taking action to try to stamp out transphobia and hatred on campus. Hate, especially against a vulnerable minority group, is potentially dangerous and it has to be nipped in the bud before it flourishes into a big weed that's hard to get rid of. IMO.

yourhairiswinterfire · 30/09/2021 13:44

Yes, well instead of policing women for defending their rights and knowing what a woman is, they should concentrate on actual transphobia then.

But that transphobia, mainly rooted in homophobia and coming mainly from men, isn't as fun as being able to unleash the misogyny by bullying, harassing and intimidating women is it, so it won't happen.

yourhairiswinterfire · 30/09/2021 13:47

And now you've mentioned weeding out dangerous, hate filled people at Uni, you've reminded me again that I've heard nothing more about the trans person posing with guns, threatening to kill women.

And nothing more about the trans person that gave a speech, fantasising about holding a knife to women's throats and ''turning them on''.

🤔
