That's it really.

For a woman in her position to go on Glinner's channel .. that's bravery ... that's ovaries of steel.

My admiration for her grows daily.

Whatever that violent man was, I think we can be pretty certain he wasn't a feminist acting under the malign influence of too much Mumsnet.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 29/09/2021 20:03

@MargaritaPie

The article did call it a "targeted hate crime".
I sometimes think that MSM workers lack basic comprehension skills and operate in a culture of impunity and lack of accountability for their misrepresentation. But, to be fair, those notable phenomenon amongst others.

I might not agree with Duffield on several matters and I nonetheless know that I might have a respectful discussion on those points of disagreement with her.

Duffield exhibited integrity, grace, and compassion. She demonstrated a willingness to listen and to sensecheck and fact check for herself which is how she had made the journey to where she is today.

@MargaritaPie

And this from just yesterday...

www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-birmingham-58718183

"A transgender woman was attacked on her doorstep in a "horrific" targeted hate crime, police said"

Which side of the debate is the hate and violence coming from exactly?

The attack was by a transphobic man. I see no evidence feminists had anything to do with this?
yourhairiswinterfire · 29/09/2021 20:08

@MargaritaPie

"Men…pretty usual really"

And whose side was this man on?

That's not you trying to insinuate that male violence (and this particuar man's mental illness) is the fault of women, is it Margarita? On a feminist board? To score a cheap point?
Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 29/09/2021 20:09

Yes, I'm sure that man has been reading GC feminism on MN, and dcided to take action because of that because men always listen to what women say....and it's always women's fault when men are violent.

Anyway, by that logic 'your side' think that threatening to murder JK Rowling is perfectly fine so 🤷‍♀️

Is this really the level you are debating at by the way because if so, it's absolutely fucking dire.

Thanks for flagging Margita as it’s very obvious that the hate and violence is not coming from women
PenguindreamsofDraco · 29/09/2021 20:19

Is this somehow intended to link Rosie or Glinner in with a (shocking) attack by a paranoid schizophrenic man on a transgemder sex worker? Cos that seems like quite the jump. Could Margarita explain the connection?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 29/09/2021 20:21

Could Margarita explain the connection?

I doubt it

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 29/09/2021 20:22

Oops sorry you meant for margarita to answer that

Apologies…you go margarita

NewMutiny · 29/09/2021 20:30

@MargaritaPie

"I don't think anyone takes those kinds of visits from the police seriously anymore, do they"

Marion didn't take her initial police visit seriously judging from her Twitter posts at the time and, well, now look where she is.

That sounds a bit...threatening?

I'm certain you didn't mean it to.

anothermansshoes · 29/09/2021 20:33

For the dumb here what is "Glinners channel " ?

Graham Linehan has a YouTube channel where he interviews guests and holds panel discussions:

I'm sure Margarita was just taking the opportunity to remind everyone of the very real dangers of male pattern violence in society but just accidentally posted on the wrong thread.

It is certainly not at all strange that this weeks episode had a higher number of trolls in the live chat and then the initial posts on this thread are obvious attempts at derailment. Hmm

Anyway, I thought it was a good episode and Rosie came over very well. I appreciate the efforts made by Glinner, Arty and Helen to speak up on this issue and raise awareness on what is going on. They also have had on some very interesting guests over the last year.

anothermansshoes · 29/09/2021 20:39

Thanks , I was getting lost in the noise , and wondered what noisy people didn't want me to see /hear

Margarita! How nice to see you! Here about Marion and her upcoming trial, are you? Again? Even though you know it's a live court case, have been told many, many times and been deleted for posting about it?
NewMutiny · 29/09/2021 20:44

I must remember the power of the grey rock.

Deliriumoftheendless · 29/09/2021 20:54

Margarita there is already a thread about the attack, you’re very welcome to pop over there and add your sympathies.

donquixotedelamancha · 29/09/2021 21:13

Wow. I agree that is a very brave step for her.

I'm always taken aback at the adulation he gets here.

I think he's sometimes a right dick on SM. I can tell it's because he's absolutely had it with the abuse and harassment he gets- it's clearly taken a severe toll.

He's admired because no man has risked and endured as much to stand up for women- not because everyone agrees with him about every word.

MaMaLa321 · 29/09/2021 21:26

I think GL is bloody marvellous, especially after last week. Like Posie Parker, I just don't understand why people are so sniffy about people who are so brave.

I agree. Part of me is wondering if Rosie is pushing this to make Labour take a stand. She'll be well aware of the frothing at the mouth it will cause and it will point so many people to Glinner's channel. There will be much sunlight, all the political commentators and MPs worth their salt will watch it. If they remove the whip from her the shitstorm will be massive. I think she's clever and brave.

Above I mentioned Glinner had recently been visited by the police, which had been brushed off by another poster here.

If I may elaborate on this, 2 years ago he was given a police warning regarding his gender critical related behaviour.
