The frustrating thing for me is that they keep framing it as trans rights rather than women's rights.

I even heard somebody of radio5 today describe Rosie Duffield's comments as 'provocative'. Describing people with a cervix as women is 'provocative', but calling our current government 'scum' and so effectively calling the people who voted for them 'scum' is 'passion' but people with cervix's = Women is provocative and anti trans.

I don't know what is going on in the Labour Party I really don't. With the current government we have this should be a walkover for them but they seem to be determined to make themselves as out of touch with the electorate as possible.

I was listening to something else today about many people now being employed in media especially news are very young and used to sharing their opinions on SM so find it really difficult to be impartial or see other people's POV and it seems to me that politics is having the same problem which doesn't bode well for the future.

@MujeresLibres

David Lammy was the minister driving the GRA legislation back in 2004. He was wrong then and is still wrong now, I expect he's so enmeshed with it he couldn't possibly admit he was wrong even if the consequences were staring him in the face.

Oh, I didn't know that.

So we've had Keir Starmer, Rachel Reeves, Emily Thornberry (gutted as I really liked her) and now David Lammy all showing the Labour party really isn't welcome to women and they don't want to be elected.

Back in the days of black sections, this question was asked. Who qualifies.

After some anger at the question being asked, they came up with the same formula applied in Apartheid South Africa: A black person was a person who looked black in the opinion of a police officer party official.

I honestly can’t believe the Labour Party can get any worse than this. They’re going to prove me wrong aren’t they.

Oh dear god, I'm tired of this. It never ends, and just when there's the tiniest glimmer of hope, we get dragged back again. Sad

Where are all of you hoarding your rights? I've stuck mine in my Preppers cupboard.

I've also identified as a stegosaurus- for now, at least.

Dinosaurs for thinking locking convicted rapists up with women is a bad idea? '

Dinosaurs for thinking that female victims of rape deserve a male free environment to recover?

Dinosaurs because we don't want to to see men beating the shit out of women and calling it ''sport''?

Wish they'd be more specific when throwing these accusations around. How are any of the above examples ''anti-trans'' or unreasonable? Do us a favour and just spit it out fellas, show everyone what you really are.

"Rights hoarding dinosaurs" - apart from the inherent ageism here, he is basically admitting that he views women's rights as some kind of toy the men permitted us to play with, but now it's time to hand them over, to a small, special group of men. Then he wants to increase privileges (not rights) for another group of men via positive discrimination, which is rather undemocratic, if nothing else. He is a nasty piece of work, and surprisingly stupid for such a well-educated man (a Masters from Harvard I believe?).

Luckily Labour are unelectable, for this and many other reasons, too many to mention really. Which tells you something, when your competitors are the incumbents.

@Keyboardkaterina

How fucking dare he. Women who reasonably wish to maintain their boundaries in a world of male violence are dinosaurs???

Between him, Starmer, and Thornberry today, surely they must have peaked thousands.

Oh, NOW I understand. Dinosaur men are going to modernise. Yay!!!

Modern right-thinking Man is willing to step aside and give up Gents Toilets and Male Changing rooms so that transwomen can have them and be safe (and still enjoy all the exclusive godgiven privileges and space they used to have when they used to be men).

Why didn't we think of that? It's so , er convenient; all the conveniences already exist and all they need is a teensy new sign on the door turning it into NO Gents, NO Males.

REAL men won't mind at all. Perfectly happy to piss up a hoarding right there in the car park, or get changed in their car. Dinosaurs just used to crap where they stood; so Modern Man will always have some poohbags in his pocket.

Glad you explained it all, Lammy.

RARRRRRRR! 🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖

Seriously though, that’s an appalling thing to say. It’s not even grimly humorous any more. My only hope is that this whole debacle wakes the wider public up to what has been going on.

Thank you for that lovely lift to the spirits from the icons.

Me, I'm a velociraptor about women's sex-based rights. In no way, shape or form am I Raquel Welch in this scenario:
