Gel clings from the dollar shop, I am going to pave it in hummingbirds or something. Or that sticky plastic which makes it opaque.

A translucent obscuring film and then the hummingbirds (if they'll stick to it) and/or pot plants houseplants in front to break it up visually (if there's a window sill inside) maybe?

There is no window sill in the kitchen. I don't want to bore you with my window dressing troubles. What lovely problems to have! The kitchen looks out onto the fire escape, with a sheer drop. No one can see in unless they are in the building and on the fire escape. Gel clings and some film will do. There is no kitchen door - it is open plan into the living room, so you can see into my living room. Might get some of those Japanese hanging curtains and a tension pole over that doorway so my living room isn't visible from the kitchen window.

On the plus side, I can get some used curtains in the right length, a lamp and bedframe from the permanent flea market. Very nice woman there is going to put them aside until I can get up there.

Anyone have any clue how to fix venetian blinds? My bathroom ones are sagging at the top iykwim. I have a bathroom!

After your many trials and tribulations I'm bloody loving the normality of discussing windows etc.

The venitian blind diagnosis would probably require diagrams and experiments pulling different bits of its strings.

I can manage photos and experiments...but really really...terribly boring for bluestocking pub talk! The saggage is worsening. I have almost scrubbed the black dirt out of the crevices of the textured glass...but please promise not to judge on the state of that glass! I spent an hour trying to get what looks like paint off the inside of the window!

Hello Detroit! Wonderful you are finally home (and dry). Congratulations. Never mind exploding lampshades or broken blinds. Such things are normal. We have broken doors that ought to hide the washing machine and tumble dryer but don't because they have been broken since, er, 2015. The door to DH's bathroom doesn't close properly. The loo paper holder fell out of the wall in the upstairs bathroom shortly after said holder was installed in 2009 and it is still lying on the floor. And so on. These things are all part of life's rich tapestry.

Well, maybe not the exploding lampshade... I draw the line at exploding lampshades.

I will have to get some fishnets to wear over the sushi socks! Lol! I am wearing my giraffe socks today. I am very fond of cool socks nowadays. It is like my luxury.
No dog yet! I have to find a day when I can get up to the shelter and meet some. I also have to get 'emotional support animal' certificate for the landlord. It might be out of my reach, but I am going to try.
