For now, wake up and smell the coffee (house blend is Atkinson's prototype, from a shop which looks as though it belongs on Diagon Alley) and tea...well, that doesn't smell much tbh though I may brew up some nice spiced chai later.

Sounds like my kind of cocktail Highgame as we're still in the AM I'm serving Tea No Sugar which is tea with a generous glug of whats good for you. Alternatively Smell the Coffee - coffee with a shot. Yum

Tomorrow we'll be drinking Golden Snitches which is basically a Bellini heavy on the Prosecco, the juice is just for colouring. No socks.

Ooh, that sounds delicious. I was wondering how to do a cocktail with the suffragette colours which wasn't a lurid, weird tasting set of layers. Even at this time of year I'm sure we've got some purple and white violas in the pub garden, and suitable edible foliage.
And this being the Bluestocking (its the refreshments analog of the room of requirement, with added livestock), despite me unaccountably never having heard of elderflower liqueur before, lo and behold there's a supply back here with the gin and vermouth.

Is everyone too busy IRL to drop in here? Well, I suppose that's good!

Hello! Happy holidays everyone...this is a tough one for me. I lost my oldest friend who was still on the streets, a few months back. Too many missing people. I feel very guilty bring safe and warm

Your friend wouldn't begrudge you being safe and comfortable. We alway make a toast at Christmas 'to absent friends' so I'll raise my teacup with you to do that.

(Not sure where everyone else is - some of course have kids and will be doing surreptitious stocking stuffing about now!)

Hello Detroit, I always think of you when the Bluestocking thread pops up, and wonder how you're getting on. Sorry to hear about your friend. Is there a nice way you can remember them this Christmas, maybe play some of their favourite music or something? I'll raise a glass too, as I've just lost a dear family friend in the last couple of days. It'll just be a glass of water for now as I'm off to bed.

I haven't found my way here before, but I am wandering around on my own today and it is BRILLIANT. My partner is working until 5pm, so I am having a very leisurely day of preparing Christmas dinner at a slow pace. DD worked until 2am, so not expecting her to surface until lunchtime.

For newcomers, I should point out that the Bluestocking livestock collection began with a goat.

The cat is looking offended... having recently shoved several sprigs of rosemary up a chicken's arse, I shudder to think what 'sprucing the cat' entails. (I've got sticking plasters and antiseptics back here if you need them, prudencepuffin)

Errol - I dont think the cat is a-mewsed. Sorry!!!! We may need some sticking plasters later. Enjoy your elderflower liqueur.
