Thanks all. It was a training course where a man started on about wokeness in a really tone deaf/offensive way.
I hate that the likes of piers Morgan/Katy Hopkins etc have made it so these people feel like their views are totally acceptable to air in work.
Don't want to say more because it's work, company handled it well, but I'm just in despair at the world

It's so hard to tread a middle path in anything at the moment (I was about to type 'these days' like a proper fogey, but I live in hope that sanity will return).

If the Left won't speak up for more moderate voices, then only the Right-wing ones get heard, so it makes it easy to paint anyone not into the woke 100% as a raging fascist. Plus it makes it harder to voice the more moderate position as you have to explain everything.

to you all. It's early but I've done more than my fair share of parenting this week, sent in some work before a deadline and got through The Transgender Issue without banging my head against a wall (although my notes in the margin got more, ahem, irritable as I approached the end). I'm on my hols so haven't been listening to anything. But I'll raise a with you anyway.

I'm sitting outside our holiday cottage, next to an orchard with ripe apples and seven rather peaceful alpacas. It's very much as I've imagined the Bluestocking's paddock to look like, though that would of course have donkeys, goats and the camel too.

I am envious. I was up just after 6 today to walk the dogs before going to work...

Plus I am on the wagon till the Christmas parties start, or I get invited out, so I can't even drown my sorrows.

Watch out for the alpacas though. They are spitty little bastards

It's hard. I feel guilty about being inside. I'm missing people who should have made it through too. I had a bad bang round the head a couple of days ago. A delivery driver slammed door on my head and knocked me out

I am not great company as I am tired and grumpy. I will isolate myself in the corner with an elderflower cordial until I am fit for man or beast and let myself be soothed by the ambience if that’s OK.

Mmmm...I've had worse, but have a cracking headache, nauseous, and feel dazed. One eye is bruised worse than the other. Hit on top of the head. I bent down to pick up the parcel he out down, he slammed the door on my head. Parcel wasn't for me. He had thrown my masks and lap desk in the hallway. I'll be ok. Not going to hospital - delta plus no insurance. I know they have to give emergency treatment but I know they will just send me home..

I'm very grateful and I love my home. I'm also terrified of losing it...

My alpacas seem quite benign and calming.

To be fair, the alpaca in question had been snuggled by too many small children and had bad enough. Altacka's they were called for a while after that incident...your darlings look adorable.
Men smashing things over my head is about usual. It's ok. I've stopped puking and feel less dazed now.
