That's the fucking Malcolm Tucker spirit! Grin

I mean, I'm sure the Green Party are nothing like Malcolm Tucker.

Anyone else do surveys for YouGov? I got one today that asked me if I was a member of the Green Party (I am) and then went on to ask me about my voting record (General Election and Green Leadership elections) and about the trans debate:

  • whether I thought TWAW & TMAM
  • should legal gender change be made easier
  • should trans people be allowed in the sports, changing rooms & toilets of the opposite sex
  • should TW who are the victims of DV be allowed in women's shelters.

The questions made it clear that TW were born male & some of the questions asked about trans people who hadn't had surgery.

I wonder who commissioned this survey?

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 27/08/2021 23:10

Ooh. I do YouGov but haven’t had that one. Hope it comes up.

WhoEatsPopTarts · 29/08/2021 10:26

I’ve joined recently and received an email today from GPWomen with a reminder to vote in the GPEx election, the deadline is the 31st Aug. It’s worth looking at some of the candidates including Kathryn Bristow.

ChristinaXYZ · 29/08/2021 12:06

The Green Party is a complete lost cause. Time is better spent on pushing those politicians and parties who have any chance of getting anywhere near power and who are on the fence and could be made to see the gender critical point of view has a point. The so called greens also pretty useless on the environment.

I have been bewildered by people joining them to vote for a different leader when they have no real power. Money is better spent joining or supporting Sex Matters or ForWomenScotland. Energy is better spent pressurising your MP or police and crime commissioner or writing to Ofcom about them still being on Stonewall's equality index, or any of the other more useful actions you could be doing.

The only thing that will stop the current iteration of the Greens in England is running out of money and attention. Leave, don't join, ignore.

Perfectly possible to do all of these things as well as joining the Greens.

GreenandCommon · 30/08/2021 16:51

That is a very mature response Arabella. I was going to go with "You're not the boss of me." Hopefully Christina will now be so busy walking the one true path she will not look back in to be further bewildered that people are different.

I think SA's hopes may depend on whether the TRA vote splits between Denyer/Ramsay and Womack/Ormond or coalesces round one pair. I will be staying on whoever wins as my local party does good things. I ignore the endless begging from party central and hand money directly to locals.

I do like what I've seen of Tina Rothery in action and if circumstances were different would vote for her and the other guy as first pref.

Lysistra65 · 30/08/2021 18:54

Green Party desperately needs to concentrate on climate change & ecological disaster. Green Party needs to base it's policies on peer reviewed science & reality, not 'feelings'. Humans are mammals, we are sexually dimorphic, males make small gametes (sperm) & females make large gametes (ova). Thats the reality, human beings cannot change sex & it is not 'transphobic' to state reality. The Green Party uses STV voting system. I will vote for Shahrar Ali, as he defends women's rights & focuses on climate change, then Tina Rothery & Martin Hemingway, who are really good on climate change & environmental activism. 3rd I would put Ashley Gunstock even though he is not very thrilling he is not a gender bully. Then Reopen Nominations (RON) as I can't vote for the others. Tamsin & Amelia are just embarrassing & obsessed with 'transwomen are women', which as the majority of transwomen retain male genitalia, is bonkers. Carla Denyer & Adrian seem saner, but in a pink news article they say they will 're-educate' people who don't think people can change sex. A bit Stalinist. I don't wish to be re-educated & I am not a 'transphobic'. I just don't believe in the religion & certainly not when it comes to giving hormones to kids & young people that damage their bodies & minds.

I disagree. Labour, Liberals, WEP, SNP and Plaid Cymru are also pushing the gender nonsense & punishing people who speak out. Greens are the easiest to change because they don't have so much power. And their policies on the environment are far better than the other parties. We can do this & it will give women in the other parties hope & strength. We can do it & all the things you suggest.

Im new to mumsnet, im glad i found this board and this thread. Im a green party member, have been a candidate in the past actually! Its changed a lot towards a TRA organisation of late, on the national scale, so its amazing to see women joining and wanting to vote for Shahrar

GreenandCommon · 31/08/2021 22:54

Oooh, Bright Woke must see AG as a threat. What a headline!

bright-green.org/2021/08/30/leadership-candidate-suggests-hes-best-placed-to-lead-green-party-because-hes-a-white-cisgender-man/

Sian ever helpful, telling us who to vote for, another cracking headline:

bright-green.org/2021/08/31/sian-berry-calls-for-green-members-not-to-vote-for-three-leadership-candidates/

But apart from that, let's all be kind and respectful.

CircularReasoning · 02/09/2021 13:09

Voting is open.

OhHolyJesus · 07/10/2021 22:14

At least one of the defeated candidates has found something to occupy their time.

Has anybody ploughed through the proposed constitution changes to GPW? Given they have to allow men to be members is there much difference in the amendments apart from feelz?

Also does anyone know if they are going to be voted on at the GPW conference? That is at a really awkward time for me but I would rearrange if I thought voting on the day would make a difference.

If this is a sample of the new Green Party:

However, there are some notable new additions. Raphael Hill has set up in front of the hall with a large placard reading: “Trans people are human beings”

No - well bugger me - I always thought they were aardvarks. Dont know whether to cry, laugh or throw a brick.

FindTheTruth · 23/10/2021 13:37

I know it's ridiculous. Calling LGBA a hate group is discriminatory and he clearly hasn't actually read what they've actually said. Disagreement isn't hate and wanting children who grow up to be lesbian, gay or bisexual to be happy isn't hate.

Grin Because no matter how enraged they get, they can't stop our laughter.

Green feminists leaflets at the Green party conference. Removed by gender ideologists for the scary ideas they contain.
A security guard has been assigned to watch them.
