@Waitwhat23

From what I understand Bristow was dropped from as a Green Party candidate for the UK’s 2021 local government elections because they lied about their sex on their Census return, declared this openly on social media (and I believe encouraged others to do the same) and there were complaints that such behaviour brought the party into disrepute.
Is that all? Jeesh
WarriorN · 25/08/2021 07:53

So is Emma chair of gpw again? Or no chair as she was suspended?

FindTheTruth · 25/08/2021 08:01

Emma Bateman @letterem... said the complaint would not be heard until at least the end of July.

Hi ,
I have just seen this thread from Facebook, and thought I would say thanks for the support from commenters.
I am still suspended from the green party, and the complaint against me for asking 'are trans women female?' is yet to be heard, and won't be heard until at least the end of July."

SA on twitter commenting on Marions case:

"@ShahrarAli
I honestly cannot fathom, but despair, what has become of society. A woman facing imprisonment for expressing "offensive" opinions based on her beliefs about sex and gender, then her family being targeted & terrorised while she awaits court. This is not justice; it's persecution"

KB is still very much around and standing for the GPEx election. Fae seems to have wiped the inconvenience that is faer co-chair from faer memory.

Here's an extract from faer bio for the election statement:

Kathryn has worked in management, ensuring smooth day to day operations, overseeing the work of employees and volunteers. Fae excels in facilitating different elements of organisations to collaborate, rather than having parallel efforts that contribute to wasted resources. With Rachel’s complementary expertise, Kathryn would bring together what works well with the party’s publications and build on the party’s successes. Kathryn is the chair of Green Party Women

Like turning off comments in the women's group.

Message today from CARLA DENYER AND ADRIAN RAMSAY:

"Ultimately we would love to see LGBTIQA+ rights not be a party political issue and in Scotland we’ve got a brilliant example of that. The SNP and the Scottish Greens have come together to ban conversion therapy, reform the Gender Recognition Act and invest in preventing gender based violence. That’s our ambition for progressive politics in England and Wales."

Notagain20 · 26/08/2021 16:42

It's not a party political issue. It's about power, so it's a political issue.

ArabellaScott · 26/08/2021 16:46

Holy fuck, Truth.

'not a party political issue' = we've got rid of all the women who disagree.

Fab.

ArabellaScott · 26/08/2021 16:49

They're holding the Scottish Green party up as an example of best practise. That's ... well, that's bold. Confused

Those two (Denyer and Ramsay) are favourites to win, aren't they?

Scary. Absolutely scary.

Hi,
Thanks for the mention on this thread , sorry I have not checked in for quite a while. Someone asked what is happening with me being suspended from the green party and the complaint against me.

I was unsuspended at the end of July, however the complaint is ongoing and there is as yet no date for the hearing. I have been told that I will be re-suspended if I put a toe out of line, and there have been attempts to oust me again already, though as yet they have been unsuccessful.

I am really pleased to say that lots of people have signed up to vote in the green party leadership election , and though of course everyone will have their own reasons for doing so, the prospect of a leader who recognises the importance of women's sex based rights has definitely been a motivating factor for many.

I believe that this election will be pivotal whichever way it turns because the narrative thread that has been pushed in the green party, that everyone is singing from the same hymn/her/they sheet apart from a miniscule number of “screeching sirens,” is running out of line.

Women are raising their voices in the party and if you want to join to vote for some excellent candidates, the deadline to do so is Midnight on Friday August 27th

Join the party here: (its about £3.30)

Cheers, Emma Bateman , (co chair of Green Party Women)

ArabellaScott · 26/08/2021 22:02

Glad to hear you are hanging on in there, Emma. I've joined, and joined my partner up, too. Good luck!

Kettledodger · 27/08/2021 02:06

With all the coverage here and on Twitter I thought I would maybe join up so I could vote on the leader election. I decided to first go look what policies were actually in place because one good leader does not make the party.

Unfortunately I see the trans women are women and trans men are men mantras are written. Also very much advocating a push for invasion of single sex spaces including sport.

I don't think I can come out of my political wilderness yet Sad

ArabellaScott · 27/08/2021 09:21

Bumping to remind people that you have until midnight tonight to join!

GrandmaMazur · 27/08/2021 13:41

I’ve rejoined. It’s got to be worth a try.

OhHolyJesus · 27/08/2021 14:01

Thanks for the bump! I've rejoined too.

ArabellaScott · 27/08/2021 15:34

You have til midnight, everyone!

Honestly, for me I think it’s all the more reason to join, irritating though it feels to part with money at this point. Parties can be changed from within. If we all sit back and let politicians ignore us, we’ve already lost.
TuttingMaud · 27/08/2021 16:33

I joined 5 minutes ago.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 27/08/2021 16:55

I have just joined - when do we get to vote on the leadership?

FindTheTruth · 27/08/2021 17:11

Emma 💐for hanging in there. Although 'unsuspended' it sounds like you're curtailed.

Just wondering if anyone else has been looking at the Agenda for Autumn conference. I was looking for something in those 179 pages and noticed there's an awful lot on party discipline and the complaints process.

I don't have enough background to know what it all means. I am hoping someone who loves this kind of stuff will do a precis, 179 pages in a 179 words would be good.
