I wilted in the heat so missed the pub afterwards. But PP's comments on the 'fawning' I'm finding interesting. Because even at a meeting of women who are fighting for their rights, and the right to say no to any male, irrespective of identity, being given access to female only services/space/provision/sport etc. it seems that female socialisation kicks in when a male wears a dress.

I've been involved in this fight for a number of years now, and I've witnessed how the inclusion of males, irrespective of claimed gender identity, often shifts the tone, the balance, the atmosphere for women & limits what they will say/do to further their cause. It also means that some women who really need that female solidarity can't access it.

I think the 'fawning' is something that we al need to reflect on & work out why this is how some of us behave over someone who (as far as I'm aware) has failed to acknowledge their part in writing guidance for schools that breach female children's rights under the UNCRC.

I think we all need to 'be more Posie' in life & activism.

Is there some kind of yearly ceremony where they compare willies and a league table is drawn up accordingly?

Is anyone going to volunteer to check with their DH?

TinselAngel · 16/09/2021 22:36

@RedDogsBeg

If anything I’d suggest smaller breasts can help you avoid looking a bit middle aged as you get, well, middle aged. So maybe smaller breasts confer status with other women. They’re certainly easier to dress stylishly with.

Imperative to avoid the Nurse Gladys Emmanuel shelf.

That's me these days. I've not found a randy shop keeper yet though.

I shared a flat with 3 lads at university and yes, I can tell you they they did compare tackle in the showers after playing their sport, and gossiped like fishwives about any that were larger/smaller/differently shaped form the norm.

It was extremely discombobulating when I'd meet the weird willy owners in social situations.

I was also in a sports club and we showered together but absolutely nothing similar happened (actually I found it a really empowering experience seeing female bodies of all sorts of shapes and sizes, all absolutely fine and normal.)

That could explain so much.

Do you think they assume we do that with boobs?

I honestly can't ever remember having a conversation with another woman about a third woman's boobs.

KimikosNightmare · 17/09/2021 00:00

@MiladyBerserko

We can with you anyway
And what would that be? I'm guessing you think male. In which case you are wrong. Born female, been pregnant, gone through menopause.
PlayYouLikeAShark · 17/09/2021 00:16

Aye, did ye?

MiladyBerserko · 17/09/2021 04:48

Er no. I dont think you are male.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 17/09/2021 05:08

I’ve only ever had that where the third woman had breast cancer. Maybe it’s in the same category as them thinking we have girly chats & swop lipsticks with strangers in the toilets. Or the whole teenage girls pillowfighting cliche. Stuff that women only do in men’s heads.

Datun · 17/09/2021 05:10

Me neither. I cant imagine a situation where you would.

Yes, except that.

IsAnybodyListening · 17/09/2021 06:17

Anyone know when Posie is next at speakers corner?

somethinginoffensive · 17/09/2021 07:11

26th September

At the reformers tree, a few mins walk away from speaker's corner.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 17/09/2021 07:12

26 September.

IsAnybodyListening · 17/09/2021 08:15

Thanks somethinginoffensive and EmpressWitchDoesntBurn I think i'm going to head in. If anyone else is interested please feel free to PM me.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 17/09/2021 08:25

The post-talk gathering at the pub is also wonderful. The choice of pub is quietly specified after the meeting to avoid TRA backlash.

Re PMing, usual warning that you don’t know which misogynists are reading the thread etc etc…

IsAnybodyListening · 17/09/2021 08:28

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn Good point about who might PM me! I'm normally not naïve, but you are absolutely right.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 17/09/2021 08:29

If it helps, when I went along last time I got chatting to loads of women I’d never met! The atmosphere is great. You’ll love it.

My Mum calls it her shelf. I view the encroachment of mine with concern

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 17/09/2021 16:13

It's encroaching??? That sounds a bit worrying.

RedDogsBeg · 17/09/2021 16:46

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 17/09/2021 17:07

Think how important you women with encroaching shelves must be.

somethinginoffensive · 17/09/2021 17:28

I'm probably going, we need a mumsnet signal.

RedDogsBeg · 17/09/2021 17:59
