Well it's all kicking off at the spa. An amazing woman behind the desk standing up for women and telling a man where to take his penis. I fear she will lose her job over this but it's a glorious way to go.

What age do they have to be? I assume you will have quite a few five-year olds who used to believe in boys and girls (quite simple, I know) and now believe that girls will turn into boys if they like the colour blue.

Does it matter if they also believe in unicorns and Santa Claus?

WoolOfBat · 29/06/2021 10:59

Sorry, I wrong thread.

Datun · 29/06/2021 11:00

What if this man was a known offender out on licence who realised it was a way to get close to little girls? I don't know that but neither does anyone else because nobody with any authority was willing to ask any questions or investigate.

And it wouldn't matter, anyway. There is no ruling that says just because he's a convicted paedophile, he can't identify as a woman and use women's spaces.

Karen White was a self-confessed paedophile and multiple rapist.

I mean, let's face it, every single sex offender on the planet can now do this.

Every paedophile, every rapist, they can all go into this bloody spa.

hazandduck · 29/06/2021 11:03

The patronising bloke asking (as if it’s any of his fucking business) a distressed, part undressed woman if the person in question is transgender, then calling her a dick makes my blood absolutely boil.

This for me just amplifies how the trans movement is just misogyny and oppression in plain sight; you have vulnerable, upset women of colour trying to defend their rights, being talked down to, belittled, and actually called names which is abuse, by a smug, fully-dressed white man, whilst a group of other fully clothed smug men smirk and laugh at the undressed, distressed women. Nothing has changed. It just goes by a different name. And it’s cleverly done, because the oppressed speaking up are now the bigots, so are easily silenced again.

How can anyone watch this video and say it’s ok. How.

I feel so sorry for the staff members. It’s not their fault.

OvaHere · 29/06/2021 11:11

I feel so sorry for the staff members. It’s not their fault.

No it's not and it's dreadful that people in the service industry are being put in this position by politicians and lobbyists.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/06/2021 11:11

@highame

Doesn't it strike you as odd that someone who might be transgender, a transwoman, wants to display their masculinity? That flies in the face of any arguments that TRA's make, doesn't it? My apologies if that thought has already been discussed
Yes. Hence my rather flippant poem in my previous post. If you truly want to be a woman, or to be seen as woman, you start to address having an operation to remove male parts. Surely you would either lay low in the meanwhile, or go in the mixed areas of the spa. This is just flashing, by any other name.
adviceseekingnamechanger · 29/06/2021 11:20

I hope this is the start of more women calling this shit out. We have a right to single sex spaces without male bodies in them, regardless of gender identity. I don't see how being transgender makes this any different to flashing. Women being exposed to an unwanted penis in a public area has nothing to do with him thinking he's a woman. He isn't. He has a penis.

It's not fucking ok, and fuck being kind.

VortexofBloggery · 29/06/2021 11:22

NiceGerbil I think you may have invented SpaBook 😁

@OvaHere

Not that many, I think. In my experience, the argument goes in circles from 'be kind' to 'okay, that one's bad but you're cherrypicking' and then back to 'be kind' again.

From what I saw on Reddit the current favoured argument seems to be.

" You're all so prudish, why does it matter if a little girl sees an adult penis, she won't melt at the sight"

Which is a huge pushing of the Overton window of what is acceptable conduct around little girls. Makes it much easier IMO to make the jump to "why does it matter if a little girl touches an adult penis, it won't do any harm".

Reminds me of the PIE campaigns of the 70s, arguing for the 'liberation' of children, specifically their sexual liberation.
thinkingaboutLangCleg · 29/06/2021 12:55

I asked my gym, Nuffield, to confirm if the female open plan changing facilities would be open to males who say they identified as women, and they said they would decide on a case by case basis.

I bet if you asked how they’d “decide on a case by case basis”, they wouldn’t be able to tell you. How could they? Just bullsh*t in other words.

nauticant · 29/06/2021 13:47

They'd look at each case, think about the social media shitstorm they'd face by refusing, and then would make the appropriate decision.

ShagMeRiggins · 29/06/2021 14:01

I asked my gym, Nuffield, to confirm if the female open plan changing facilities would be open to males who say they identified as women, and they said they would decide on a case by case basis.

And my immediate follow up would to ask whether that decision would be made before or after the males who said they identify as women were allowed into the changing facilities.

Do they plan to ask for GRC upon arrival? No. Do they plan to eyeball upon arrival and decide if the person “passes?” No. Do they plan to let in anyone who says so and hope no one complains? Probably. Do they have protocol in place to immediately secure the women in their facilities upon such a complaint and eject the case-by-case person? Three guesses on that one.

Laurie Penny, who has been telling everyone on Twitter how to feminist properly, tweeted this response to someone asking what her 15 year old should do if there's a male with his penis out in a changing room with her:

"How am I supposed to know how she would feel? I haven't met your daughter, and I'm not her parent. But I'd advise her not to stare at other people's genitals without their permission, because it's rude."

Don't be rude girls. First rule of proper feministing.

I think we can condense that further to don't be rude to anyone with a penis.
toffeebutterpopcorn · 29/06/2021 14:25

I’ve read that. They really are... not quite bright...

littlbrowndog · 29/06/2021 14:26

Avert your eyes from that dick girls

Wonder if girls will now get reported for staring at strange men’s dicks 🤦‍♀️

AmericanSlang · 29/06/2021 14:29

That's the next item to be added to the hate crimes list! "This child rudely stared at my dick". No doubt the police will be right on it

RoyalCorgi · 29/06/2021 14:37

"How am I supposed to know how she would feel? I haven't met your daughter, and I'm not her parent. But I'd advise her not to stare at other people's genitals without their permission, because it's rude."

I find that unbelievable, and also chilling. What did she think a fully grown man was doing in the women's spa other than staring at their genitals?

How is it possible to be that stupid? That gullible? I actually cannot fathom it. A man puts his genitals in a female child's line of sight, and her response is to say the girl shouldn't stare? What is wrong with her? Does she have no moral compass at all? Or is she just unbelievably thick?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 29/06/2021 14:39

Because a naked man parading around - exactly who you should take your eye off..

AmericanSlang · 29/06/2021 15:05

RoyalCorgi I could almost excuse it if she was thick, or if she was some basement incel. She's a journalist, a writer, a woman. I think she, and many others, have painted themselves into such a corner defending this ideology that they have to come out with horrific statements like this, because the awful results of that ideology are now coming to pass and they find themselves unable to back down.

Interesting comment that was on the Laura Solomon issue but feels apt here:

Channeling Sun Tzu, there's no honourable retreat from TWAW/TMAM/NBAV. You have to die in that particular ditch, which is why the struggle is going to have to be attritional.

twitter.com/mcdonnelljp/status/1409831006924836865?s=20

I'd like to think that there is still an honourable, face-saving path back for people - am I mistaken in that?

DeRigueurMortis · 29/06/2021 15:22

Well it's not going well for her on Twitter

AmericanSlang · 29/06/2021 15:37

Embarrassing I'm not sure if there is a way back for people who have been saying this stuff for literally years, and refused to listen to any counter argument or look at evidence being shown to them. I know that I personally will never read The Guardian again, for example, because they called women bigots for asking questions and threw journalists under the bus for not toeing the ideological line. And there's a lot of professional feminists and supposedly feminist organisations who I will not financially support or listen to ever again because the things they have said and done in support of this bullshit are unforgivable.

I think you're absolutely right. It's also the case, of course, that she had an expensive private education followed by Oxbridge, and like all - almost all - people from that kind of background, she has a vastly inflated sense of her own abilities and very little awareness of how much advantage her private education has given her. I can guarantee that if Penny had attended a comprehensive school like most people, none of us would ever have heard of her.
