Liz Truss urges official withdrawal from Stonewall diversity scheme

Sorry, I don't have a share token but www.thetimes.co.uk/article/liz-truss-urges-official-withdrawal-from-stonewall-diversity-scheme-9df7pvsrn

Basically, Liz Truss "is pushing for all government departments to withdraw from Stonewall’s employment scheme following a row over transgender rights." because "she shared the concerns raised by the EHRC over the scheme’s value for money, particularly as the civil service has its own in-house workplace diversity programme."

Whether or not the reasons stated are true (I have my doubts) this is a good thing!

Does anyone have a share token? Pretty please.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 31/05/2021 03:15

This is absolutely brilliant. I only hope it happens. Thank fuck for Liz Truss.

NiceGerbil · 31/05/2021 03:22

Wow. Blimey.

And publically as well.

Fallingirl · 31/05/2021 03:55

I am not sure how some government departments can have left the scheme, while this article says the coordination of membership of the champion scheme rests with the cabinet office. Who makes the decision for each department?

NiceGerbil · 31/05/2021 03:58

The minister responsible for that area I assume. And whether they say ok or not will be informed by the civil servants they work with.

In the end it's shall we keep doing this and an ok I would guess.

FindTheTruth · 31/05/2021 04:54

I think this all started with women on here FWR, from Grassroots women's rights groups that started with posters finding out about injustices on FWR here, to thousands of determined women taking action publicly or behind the scenes.

FindTheTruth · 31/05/2021 04:59

'250 government departments and public bodies ... pay for guidance on issues such as pronouns and gender-neutral spaces'

I hope this extends to the police forces recording male rapists as female

crumpet · 31/05/2021 05:12

Fingers crossed this rooting out takes hold 🤞

FindTheTruth · 31/05/2021 05:16

Deft move by Liz Truss, timing it just after Stonewall CEO Nancy Kelley, likened disagreeing with Stonewall to anti-semitism.

All schools, universities, NHS, military, police, official charities and all public services should be independent of lobby groups.

HumphreyCobblers · 31/05/2021 05:22

This is excellent news.

TheHandmadeTail · 31/05/2021 05:49

This is great news. Liz Truss is not letting up.

WineAcademy · 31/05/2021 05:58

Oh wow!! Schools shall be hard pressed to justify being a part of this, now.

Whinginadeville · 31/05/2021 05:58

Liz Truss is a woman on a mission and as a previous poster said I like to think we've helped. I've emailed her office several times following information given in these threads.

Oh that clapper board would be really funny but did not need a bloody Hitler reference!
(Springtime for....)

Great news on this. Much as I think one person cannot have (or at least should not have) that much power to effect something as large scale as this; and we really need to be examining how Stonewall membership has influenced govt departments, what changes and policies have been brought in following Stonewall advice, and we need to be saying out loud the part where Stonewall is advising on how Stonewall would like the law to be rather than how it actually is, not just hiding behind budgets. I don’t think most of us on here are usually supportive of Tories cutting budgets and for anyone who is still stuck at “be kind” this would just be more Tories defunding things.

BluePorchAwning · 31/05/2021 07:00

Thanks for posting and for the share token. The comments are amazing - people are waking up.

Sophoclesthefox · 31/05/2021 07:03

Watching with interest.

No wonder Nancy Kelley has been spooked into making unfounded, alarmist statements invoking anti semitism, as presumably she’s very much aware of this action, and many others like it happening in the background, on her watch.

I’m sad that it has come to this for Stonewall, I really am. It’s an ignominious fall for a once praiseworthy organisation.

FindTheTruth · 31/05/2021 07:04

Thanks @Cwenthryth, I didn't know about the hitler reference.

"Quite right. Police and Judiciary next too. Also, IPSO, because the effect of trans activism is that Male crimes, including sexual and violent crimes are being reported and recorded as if they were committed by women. And the MOJ, because intact male criminals are being placed in women’s prisons."
"There should be a public inquiry into how Stonewall was able to infiltrate these public bodies and many others so easily, and use them in a way that resulted in real detriments to women, girls and to free speech"

Leafstamp · 31/05/2021 07:11

we really need to be examining how Stonewall membership has influenced govt departments, what changes and policies have been brought in following Stonewall advice

And now reversing any policies and cultures that incorrectly stated the EA protected characteristics or mistakenly made one protected characteristic more important than another.

'Next? Can the police forces across the country please remove themselves from the insidious influence of Stonewall? The harassment of people who have been accused of hate crimes for merely stating woman- adult human female on social media for example has got to stop. Stonewall have taken many police forces down the wrong road. Stonewall are anti-woman, anti-science, anti-lesbian (lesbians must now include men with penises), and have strayed very far from their original remit. In fact I'd go as far to say that they have turned their back on the LGB in favour of just one new money spinning goal which is the T. Transgender is their current top trump card. Let's hope many more organisations leave this insidious group of harmful ideologues.'

northstars · 31/05/2021 07:20

Excellent news!

PandorasMailbox · 31/05/2021 07:31

Lots of good comments under the article. People really have had enough.

Stonewall is a lobby group that campaigns to: remove single-sex spaces and resources from Equality Act 2010; promote self-ID with no safeguards; remove the spousal exit clause from GRA04; remove the rape by deception offence; and to redefine same-sex attraction as same-gender attraction, all while promoting a culture of silencing women who disagree with these stances. And they are paid hundreds of thousands of pounds by organisations whilst promulgating these ideas. How they have become so entrenched in our official bodies whilst actively undermining legal protections for women and LGB people and facilitating the notion that conformity to sexist stereotypes is in any way “progressive” is beyond me.

rogdmum · 31/05/2021 07:34

This is fantastic news. Hopefully schools will start to wake up to the issues as well.

Leafstamp · 31/05/2021 07:34

So many days in a row that we have been getting good news reported in the Times!

It’s really gathering momentum - surely Stonewall’s days are numbered now?
